The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable.

I left my Fitbit watch and charger in the room.  I called and asked for it to be shipped back to me.  I did say I would pay for the return and would like it back asap.   The manager called to say he would mail my watch and charger back and that I did not need to pay for the return.  I thought that was very kind of the manager to do that.  I would recommend this hotel.  It was nothing fancy but very clean, nice and a pleasant room.  ..... Anna

The Return of Fitbit and Charger

Reserved a room for one night (a bit overpriced for the area but was OK). The owner requires a $100 security deposit but you only get $94 back--and all of the deposit if you give them cash----when I said why, I was told it's a tax on it--NEVER hear of that. The 2 people at the desk (they were very helpful) had a hard time with my credit card--which made me even more nervous. In the end, the owner waived the fee because of the issue they were having putting it on my card, plus a line waiting to check-in.. The next morning i received a fraudulent charge notice from my credit card company. I went to the office to assure the deposit was not on the card--the owner started yelling at me saying I was unhappy about this and that--which was not true at all. Long story....NEVER stay at the Sanford Inn for any reason!!!  The owner yelling at me, issue with using a credit card. Best to find a nicer place in the area.  Just my advice.

STAY AWAY!!!

I googled pet friendly motels and hotels and this came up. I then paid through Agoda (as I am on a budget) . I then called to confirm my reservation and the guy yelled at me and said no pets. (I literally called within 5 minutes of booking) I asked for a reimbursement to my card and he told me to contact Agoda. I called Agoda and they told me no problem they just had to get confirmation from the owner. Well it am still waiting. You can’t advertise something, not deliver and keep people’s hard earned money. I am filing a claim with the bbb and whoever else I can. Never mind the rudeness. BEWARE!!!

BEWARE!!!!!

My fiance and I have stayed at Sanford Inn several times while waiting for our apartment to be ready. It is always very neat and clean and the staff is more than helpful. Our apartment is finally ready and I have to say that we will miss our weekends there. I highly recommmend!

Very Nice Experience

Leaving Portland we thought it wise to get some rest so we headed inland and found this independently operated motel. Despite our arrival past the posted check-in time the manager greeted us and provided entry key to our room. Large room with great beds. The decor is a bit dated but rather meticulously maintained. The shower is a stall rather than the traditional tub so a bit cramped for a large frame guest (like me). Still, the bathroom has far more space than most lodging does. Recommend this place highly.

Spacious Room, Quiet, Well Maintained.

Stayed for one night on a recent trip to Maine.  Room was basic.  It had some updates and was clean.
It would have been a better experience if the owner had been more helpful with a library book left behind.
Be sure to specify if you want a smoke-free room.

I stayed here twice, the second time the owner was not happy that I used a Trip Advisor or similar Hotel review, he said " If you stayed here before, its ok to use them, but the second time I have to pay them for booking your room. It isn't fair, you already like this place" Well if I can save $9.00 why not? I am on a fixed income. All in all I only slept at his Inn, I spent all the time at my son's place. I didn't go to office for coffee or even information. I was there to see my oldest grand daughter play field hockey, and celebrate her birthday. So, it got real cold on the night I left in November, but the room in the Inn was ok.

Price

We had a great stay at the Sanford Inn. From the very friendly gentleman at check in to the clean, spacious room we really had no complaints. It was a great price and value. The motel is not far from restaurants, shops, beaches and the Ogunquit Playhouse.  We'll visit again.

Great motel

The Sanford Inn is a dated 50's style strip motel. One floor, long and narrow. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. Since it's off season and there was no one else there, I was able to negotiate a price with him for one night. The room was small, but clean. It was very quite. The queen size bed was comfortable, but unfortunately we missed having extra pillows. Our room had an iron and ironing board but NO Coffee Maker. Get with the program people:-) Ironing went out when grandma was buried. Coffee is in. We didn't see any indication that hey offered coffee or tea nor any other condiments for breakfast.Thankfully, there's a DD 1/4 mile down the road that opens at 5am.
