On 15th January 2019 we booked a three night stay at Albina House for September 2019 through booking.com, with the full payment of $450 being taken at the time of booking.  However, on 9th May 2019 we were contacted by booking.com to say that Albina House was overbooked and they were cancelling our reservation.  Following this, booking.com sent us a number of alternatives, all of which were entirely unsuitable.  We had booked the room eight months in advance to ensure that we got that specific room, which suited our purposes perfectly, so, we were somewhat distressed that it was unceremoniously cancelled.  We are planning to visit family in the area, and Albina House was in close proximity.  We have now really struggled to find somewhere suitable to replace this room, and have ended booking a room quite some distance from the area we are visiting, adding considerable daily traveling time.
I have written this review, although we haven't actually stayed at Albina House, to warn others about the possibility that a reservation will be cancelled without any suitable alternative being offered, and the potential for inconvenience that may cause.

Reservation Cancelled by Albina House

We spent one night here prior to flying out of Logan airport. It was the perfect place to stay.  The lady that runs the place (Albina?) was very nice.   We checked in earlier than most I think, around 3:30 after we drove up from Providence RI.  It was hard to plan for traffic.  She was accommodating.  The house is very nice and clean.  We had to room with the private bath.  The bed was comfortable.The house in a quiet residential area.  We felt very safe walking around the area.  Although the traffic wasn't bad at all within a short radius of the house, we chose to walk to some places. 
 Depending on your perspective, we were within relatively close  walking distance of some places to eat. We walked less than half a mile to a Dunkin Donuts for some coffee, then walked about a half mile to a pizza/sandwich shop (Giovanni's...very good), then it was less than half a mile back to Albina house.  Getting to the airport on a Saturday morning around 8:00 a.m. was VERY easy. We were at the airport within 20 minutes with almost no traffic. I recommend the "avoid toll" option if using GPS.  We could see our route had less traffic than the Interstate toll route.  As a matter of fact, since  the purpose of our entire New England Vacation was sightseeing and hiking, we used the "avoid tolls" option the entire vacation. Much better scenery than flying along on an interstate.

Quiet, Convenient location; Nice Room

Albina is fantastic, kind, available and prepares a wonderful breakfast. A large, comfortable and clean room but with shared bathroom. A large patio where to relax. 20 minutes from the airport. Everything is perfect. Thank you. I forgot she has some cats, but even though I am allergic, I have no problems.

It's perfect.

The hostess is very nice and helpful, but it is difficult to understand everything she says because of her accent. We agree with the review "Clean accommodations, poor communication," especially about the neighborhood. It is an unusual location for a B & B. Our greatest concern was that four guest rooms upstairs share one bathroom.  It was a challenge for all of the guests to get in and out in a timely way at the beginning of the day.  This was also a very unsanitary situation with no cleaning supplies--antibacterial wipes, paper towels, Kleenex--to wipe down the sink, counter, or toilet in between guests.  Also, there were no amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, lotion.  The breakfast was made to order and tasted fine, but there wasn't anything special about it, such as you would expect at a B & B with some homemade breads or egg dishes.  Our bedroom had a noisy window air conditioner, and the TV had only local stations, no cable. The hostess is working hard to run this house, but there are some deficits. For the price, we were disappointed.

A Different Kind of B & B

We generally enjoyed our stay here. The Hostess Albina was very sweet and keeps her home very clean. The window AC keeps the room cool, and the free parking was great. The neighborhood is quite dirty and the closest restaurants are in strip malls. I asked some questions about our stay via booking.com, and did not receive correct answers. I asked Albina to book the room only if it had a queen sized bed. She did not answer directly, but booked the room for us. Turns out it was a full sized bed. Not enough room for us! When we spoke to her on the phone a couple of times the language barrier was too large. Not very productive conversations! She usually asked us what we’d like for breakfast the next morning and was very accommodating! Our last morning, however, we were served hot dogs and plain macaroni on a plate for breakfast. Very interesting!

Clean accommodations, poor communication 

What a wonderful place.  My boyfriend has ALS (Lou Gehrig's) and we frequently have to go to Mass General in Boston.  Because today's appointment was early, we opted to spend the night.  About 6 miles from Mass General  (30 minute drive in the rush hour this AM), the cost was probably $150 less than a hotel within the city limits, especially if you factor in parking.  This is what attracted us along with the positive reviews here and on other sites.

We chose the studio available because it had a private bath .  Spacious and comfortable, it also had a private entrance/exit.  The bathroom was big and clearly just renovated.  It had nice lighting fixtures , a beautiful glass bowl sink with interesting faucets,  and an enormous shower with bench (no bathtub if it matters to you) .  

The beds included one twin and a full.  Rather small, but SO comfortable.  Our towels were shaped into swans. I loved their attention to detail.   In the corner was a desk for a laptop along with a comfy office chair.  There is a mini fridge stocked with spring water bottles,  and a keurig in the room with a selection of Starbucks pods.  

The headboard on the full size bed was fuzzy and fuchsia with rhinestones.  We got a kick out of the decor.  Very fun.  

Breakfast!  This was amazing.  Albina, the proprietor, is very welcoming and attentive.  She asked us what we wanted for breakfast the evening before and what time we would like it.  We told her of our appointment, and she arranged our omelettes for 7:30AM.   Very tasty, fluffy.  Wonderful.  The breakfast table, like dear Albina, was very European.  There was toast, fresh cherry jam, slices of cheeses, yogurts, and beautiful dishware.  The teacups had a lovely butterfly motif that complemented the butter container with a crystalline butterfly on top.  

Albina cautiously took away my paper cup full of Keurig coffee,   asking if I would try hers.  Freshly ground beans.  Strong but flavorful. I take my coffee black so I'm fussy -it was amazing coffee.  

There is a friendly tabby cat on the loose in the house.  He/she (I meant to ask for its stats and name) visited us outside at the patio outside our door and then gazed affectionately at us in the common area.  If you're allergic, this is a good detail to be aware of!  

I highly recommend this wonderful place.  It's immaculately clean and the service is supreme.   If you add up the price per night, the breakfast and coffees, as well as the free parking (that you'll pay $50 for up the road anywhere at all) this is a bargain. 

I actually want to delete this because we plan to go back and I want there to be vacancies for us!  Ha.  We had a lovely stay.

I Couldn't Wait to get Home and Tell You All About it!

We just spent two days at the Albina house in Malden, near Boston. We are very satisfied with our stay. The place is clean and well maintained. We had a room with a private bathroom. The breakfast is excellent and cozy. The house is about five minutes' drive from a metro station to Boston. And besides, Mrs. Albina took us back there for two days. I highly recommend this place.

The house is very large, with a large garden equipped for you to relax. The owner is very good and very generous and prepares great and abundant breakfasts. It was nice to talk to her, she gave us many encouragements and suggestions
