I will not book with 101 Great Escapes  in the future .the place was old , parking was far from the Unit, I was not able to open the unit. I called the phone number provided no one was available till the next day  after lunch.

Over the weekend, we stayed at Sunstone Unit #104. Let me start by saying, that tMammoth Sierra reservations personnel gave us the wrong keys!! Luckily, we caught the owner's relation person just before he left. Honest mistake probably; but nonetheless annoying after a 5.5 hour car ride. The room was TINY and very cluttered. The pull out bed was unmade and insanely uncomfortable. I felt guilty making my kids sleep on it. Our king bed was hard as a rock. I notified property management of my complaints regarding the issue with checking in and the awful bed. Sara assured me "a manager" would call me the next day. No such phone call happened. I did find a bottle of wine and an apology note in my room when I got back from skiing. A few positives, guest ski lockers, hotel was truely ski in and ski out, heated garage, and was given a later check out time. Unfortunately, I don't advise wasting the money staying here. You could save a lot of money and have more space to stretch out at many other properties that are within walking distance to the slopes. Sunstone Unit #104 is NOT worth the money.

Sunstone Unit 104: Mammoth Lakes

On our very short-lived US trip we were looking for a place to stay for one night near Yosemite National Park. This is a shallow but well built wooden house with an apartment in the UK and one in the UK. What we got is a very well-equipped and generous holiday apartment in a residential area near one of the two golf courses in Mammoth, which was really bad for that one night. Great for a multi-day family vacation.

Had a room right over the top of the parking garage doors... the doors are either out of adjustment or something and every time a car comes in or out the gates screech and scream open. This continues throughout the night. Emails to the management company fell on deaf ears and my concerns were not addressed. I will never stay here again. Rooms were ok... sure wish I could have slept....

If you book at Juniper Springs through the Mammoth website, they will sometimes shunt you up the hill to the Sunstone building.  While location-wise, this isn't such a bad thing (still ski-in, ski-out), we have found on two visits that the Sunstone building is badly maintained and the units to be of poorer quality than those in the Juniper Springs building.

We are staying in Sunstone 124 this time.  Try to avoid this unit if you can.  Why?  Well, do you like hot water?  If so, you can't have much here despite repeated requests to the manager and the owner to fix it.  How about remote controls for the three TV's in the unit?  Nope, sorry.  Clocks in any of the bedrooms were non-existent, which makes it hard to wake up early for the skiing.  Want a sagging pull out bed with springs sticking out of it?  Perfect, this is the place!

But they did have nice wine glasses and the kitchen is well-equipped...

Great location, poor room quality & service - Beware Sunstone 124 unit

the place was nice and cozy but a few things were broken in there and kind of left for future to deal with them. :)  
Rooms were relatively OK size, but the whole getting the key, and dropping the key at a completely different location a few miles away was a bit of a drag.  plus they charge a $700 damage deposit right when you are checking in. this amount was never communicated in any of their booking pages so I was very surprised to see that.  Parking was an issue because there were fewer parkings than people again

great place

Sunstone at Juniper Springs is a great ski in/ski out property located at the south end of Mammoth Mountain ski resort at the Eagles Chair lift. This was my 2nd stay at this property and I will stay there again on future visits. The condo's are modern, well stocked, clean and comfortable. The spa is always hot and you can literally don your ski's right outside the pool gate and ski down to the lift. Doesn't get any better!!
