The inn is simple with few amenities. It has fresh appearance (stated refurbishment is true), good space in each room and bathroom. Bed was comfortable, but would squeak. Room was very clean upon arrival.

There is no staff on site so it is self check in, arranged by text messages. On arrival getting into the room was straightforward and obvious.

There are limits on parking, it was not full (week day) so I had no issues.

Convenient location to the local bus stop, or a short hike to the Village Gondola. Restaurants and bars within walking distance.

The “continental breakfast” is nothing more than coffee and a few packaged snacks in the room. I would suggest picking up your own breakfast preferences at a local store.

Overall, don’t expect much more than a clean, comfortable room with a good location and minimal amenities.

Simple, quaint, and comfy

If they call this newly renovated, they’re smoking something. Worst experience, terrible manager. Stay far away! Plenty of things not up to code, and parking is a nightmare. Will never return and reporting to code violations.

Worst spot in Mammoth

Highway 395 was closed, could not get to Mammoth.  2 hours of trying to call them.  2 people finally had a long and same discussion, sent me up the phone chain to a person that really helped out, simply to cancel 3 nights at the Mammoth Inn.  That phone work took 1 hour.  Even with our 6 hour drive to try to Lee Vining...roads closed...Mammoth Inn charged us one night fee on each room we booked  Poor business, stayed there for years, never again.  By the way, we had another 6 hour drive back out.  12 hours driving, added hotel fees.  Yes, a big storm.  But we did our best and Mammoth Inn business practices did not.

Bad Mammoth Inn and reservation services

If you book one rate and they cancel your reservation the week of after the mountain gets snow so you can either pay double or not find a room else where… SCAMMERS! What terrible business practice to text at 9pm they’re about to cancel and can only rebook at a significantly higher rate… oh they’re going to accommodate my complaint with 10% off so it’s only $500 more? Horrible, terrible, no good. You’ve been warned and I’m going to try and share far and wide so others are not scammed either.

SCAM artist, book elsewhere 

Booked a room late at night, however didn’t receive a text or how to check in. Once I got to the inn there was no one at the desk and no one answers the phone. I called and messaged maybe 20 time. Had to sleep in my car. Customer service is the worst. Don’t waste your money.

Zero customer service

We stayed here for a short ski getaway. The front desk staff was nice enough but didn’t really provide any information or help like most hotel/resorts.  The room was clean but in dire need of some updates. The bathroom was the worst with a lot of cracks in the walls and ceiling, paint is peeling and it overall does not feel very clean. I would say it’s not bad for the price as long as you aren’t expecting anything besides a cheap place to stay. Personally I would rather stay in town if I was to come back to the area. I gave it three stars because it was basically the minimum i would be ok with staying in.

Needs updating

Worst place I ever stay. No receptionist, don’t pick up the phone, have to text to get your keys. No one to help parking the car, but if you park wrong they will have someone to tow you car away! What a service!! They “really” know how to pist off a customer.

Don’t spend your money

Mammoth is indeed a lovely place -- unless it's on fire! These guys say FREE CANCELLATION but if they have your money, all you'll get is a one-year $75 "gift code" and a stonewall from their rude manager. We were unable to arrange our stay around their rules, and lost $150.

Don't reserve in fire season

Mammoth is such a great place to be in the summer sunny days in California. With a variety of hikes to explore, lakes to cool off in, and many more activities to enjoy, Mammoth offers the perfect summer vacation for anyone and everyone. The Mammoth Inn is the perfect accommodation to enjoy all the amazing aspects of the town. Clean comfortable and cozy, The Mammoth Inn offers a pleasant stay for any visitor looking for a reliable and safe stay. Easy self-check in and self service for light breakfast options and more products, if needed. Located in a quiet and quaint neighborhood, The Mammoth Inn is in walking distance to great local shops and restaurants. A truly great stay for short or longer stays to experience all the magic of Mammoth.

Vacation/hiking/lakes

I appreciated the procedure for contactless check-in and self-service aspect. Understandably, the dining area and refrigerator were off limits due to COVID so I couldn't put my food in the fridge for the night.  However, the room I stayed in had malfunctioning blinds and one fell to the floor during the night, and the room was stuffy and had no ventilation, no ceiling fan, and no cooling/heating unit. Opening the windows was very difficult as they were almost inoperable and the screens had holes so mosquitoes could get in. Without the blinds there was light coming into the room from adjacent buildings and outside lights. Otherwise the room was clean, but not comfortable at all for sleeping. I stayed 1 night prior to back pack trip. My 3 friends stayed in a rented condo in separate rooms and I stayed at this hotel in order to avoid us all being in the same indoor space.
