I give this place 4 stars because it doesn't have all the frills of a fancy hotel, but it is QUIET, it has always been SAFE and SECURE for us.  You can park right outside your room and parking is free.  The facility is only 1 story tall so nobody is stomping around overhead.  The rooms have a fridge, microwave with turntable.  Bathrooms are small but have plenty of hot water that arrives quickly when you turn on the faucet or the shower.  TV is adequate, the furnishings are adequate with a 3pc dinette in our king bed room; and a long dresser to set out bags on.  We have stayed here many times and been pleased just the same as on our most recent stay in May 2023.  One thing that is especially nice is the LOCATION and ease of access to Hwy 1 when traveling southbound towards Monterey or going north towards Santa Cruz.  Close to several fast food restaurants and we have safely walked down to the corner of Reservation Road, to Grocery Outlet.  The liquor store just across the parking lot is nice for snacks and sandwiches, too.  If you want to drive out to the Marina State Beach, its just at the west end of Reservation Road with a nice parking area, picnic tables and restrooms.  Happy trails and safe travels, ya'll!

Nice, quiet, safe and secure stay in May 2023

This isn’t the type of establishment that you go to for a destination hotel, which is just fine. Only two pillows on the bed, but luckily I had one in my vehicle. Internet was spotty, but that is not a dealbreaker for us. Clean and comfortable.

Friendly Motel

We had a nice stay at this motel, the room was big and comfortable.  There is a Coffee maker and refrigerator in the room.  The only criticism I have is that the internet was not consistent.  I would stay here again

Clean and friendly

So it was cheap, and we knew we wouldn't get perfection with that kind of price. But there is definitely a strong smell of damp going into the room. We couldn't use the AC as it would sporadically bang like a gunshot and scare us to death. The bathroom door was so warped it wouldn't close. The pillows were so thick and firm we all left the next day with sore necks. The walls had okay sound proofing (for a motel) but you can hear constant thudding from neighbouring rooms' footsteps and some rowdy children kept us up til midnight jumping off the beds until we asked the parents to control them. It wasn't the worst ever but honestly I would look elsewhere even if it might cost you a little more.

Not great..

This is a genuine "Mom and Pop" owned property, they take great pride in their facility.  Staff is very pleasant and friendly.  Despite a nearby busy liquor store, a casino and bar with dancing around the corner; the neighborhood is very quiet.  We heard no sirens, screaming late at night, nor loud music.  Now, the drapes in your room do not match the bedspread and the carpet is an older style but there are NO stains on the carpet.  The bedside lamps have been updated and have an electrical outlet in the base for charging your electronics.  The bathroom is small-- but the shower tile/grout has no mold. They must have in-line hot water heaters--shower gets hot real fast!  I think because this facility was originally built to serve families visiting old Fort Ord, they used to have more than 1 bed in the rooms.  Nowadays, we had only a queen bed, very comfortable.  Much 'elbow' room, with a table and 2 chairs, desk has phone and coffee maker, next to fridge/microwave.  WE WILL STAY HERE AGAIN.

Quiet neighborhood, large room

Honestly it's fine. It's on the older side but it's clean and roomy enough. Bed was comfortable, nice coffee machine and fridge. There's a bunch of restaurants and bars close by and a 7-11.  The owners we're nice to deal with. The area seemed fine to me.

It's perfectly fine

Probably ok for 1 night only.  Expensive but cheaper than average for the area. Bed was very old and saggy - no support provided.  Clean with 50/60s vibe.   Very basic amenities- crummy soap and shampoo.  Great WiFi. Would not stay a second night. 

One night only

The motel was quaint and the owners very helpful in locating nearby restaurants.  I was in town during the U.S. Open Golf Tournament and apparently the only person there disinterested in golf.  The room was nicely outfitted.  Refrigerator and coffee pot were clean and ready for me!

Cute little motel!

If you are staying for one night this place is okay. It has a fridge and microwave basic shower facilities and a comfortable bed. The area looked a bit dodgy and there was no Safe in the room. As it was the US Open Golf tournament we had no choice but to stay here but I wouldn't have stayed here under normal circumstances. If you want to be in Monterey stay in Monterey.

Short stay recommended

Needed affordable place to stay while visiting Monterey.  Searched online found the Old Marina Inn.  Owners
are always on site, very accomodating lovely people,  rooms are large, clean and beds are comfy.  There's a small fridge, coffee maker, large TV, table and chairs to sit and eat! This is 15 minutes from Monterey, I would definitely stay there again.
