So clean!  They literally reclean every area of this place every day between 10a and 5 p, so note that you are not allowed in during those times, but you can leave your stuff there if you are staying multiple days.  Victoria at the front desk and basically seemed to run the place is an asset to HI and should be recognized as such.  Helpful in everyway imaginable.  They offer a huge breakfast included in the price.  You make it yourself but they provide all the food.  Please clean up after yourself so as to leave it nice for everyone.  There is a great community feel among the guests.  The shared areas are clean and comfortable.  No reason not to try this place, you wont be sorry. 

First time at a hostel ever.  This place met my standards and went way above my expectations

I stayed in the female 12person dorm. My roommates were all hikers visiting the area. I may have lucked out on my bunch, but as hiking folks typically are, we all respected the quiet hours and had lights out at an appropriate time each night. The hostel is a great place to spend your mornings and evenings. It's closed from 10am-5pm during the day so visitors are forced to be out during that time. I can't imagine that being much of an issue for the folks that stay here. There's a nice porch to relax on should you need to be back earlier, as well as outdoor showers. The mornings are great for socializing. An amazing amount of food options are provided by the hostel and everyone pitches in to make breakfast a great event. Cook your own eggs and some for your bunk mate while some handles the pancake griddle. The hostel, while not in Harpers Ferry, is easily accessed from town by a short walk that takes you to and from the AT or the cute downtown. If you have your car, be sure to check out Shepherdstown about 20 minutes down the road.

Great hostel experience

I ended up staying in the Hostel for almost a couple of weeks after injuries from hiking. The girls running it made me feel like I was coming home to long lost friends. Making the atmosphere welcoming for everyone. I can count the number of relaxed open chats I've had there over meals. The hostel has a great breakfast, and all the amenities you need from a hike or cycle. It's super close and easy to get too from the AT and canal cycle. Couldn't recommend this place enough!!

Awesome hostel

This was the third time I've stayed in this hostel and it has been great every time.  We stayed over a Saturday night in one of the bunkroom with about 10 other people.  Everything was clean and well kept.  The best part, as in previous stays, was the helpfulness of the staff and interactions with other travelers.

Recent stay while doing the C&O canal

I discovered this hostel when I unexpectedly needed to spend a night in the Harper's Ferry Area. Friendly staff, and a really yummy breakfast: they provide pancake batter and a griddle, eggs, fresh fruit, oatmeal, toast, and more. Wi-fi works well, it's a popular spot for AT hikers, and there's a good amount of common area space and a nice kitchen. Also good A/C and comfortable, clean dorms. I enjoyed my short time there and would happily return. Only two drawbacks that I noticed:

1. You can't stay during the day (the hostel is closed from 10am-5pm), but if you plan to be out during the day, it's a fabulous place to be!

2. Each bed is provided with a pillow, fitted sheet, and a single fleece blanket (no flat sheet). Thankfully the hostel was pretty empty when I was there, so with the staff's permission, I appropriated two more blankets from other beds, and that was enough to keep me warm. But if the hostel had been fully booked and I'd had to make do with just the one blanket, I'd probably have been too cold to sleep--especially since the hostel doesn't allow you to bring your own bedding/linens/sleeping bag to supplement. Something to be aware of and check into beforehand if you tend to run cold while sleeping.

There's also space for camping at the site; the price for that (as of the time of this review) is $15/night, with a $5 additional fee if you want inside access (showers, wi-fi, and breakfast!)
