Comming from Shenandoah national park, we spent a night here on our way to Pittsburgh. For such a purpose, it is an ideal place. The rooms are clean and well equiped with a refrigerator and a microwave. Walgreens and Walmart are nearby. The whole motel is a comfortable and cozy environment.

A tip for travelers who move a lot.

My family stayed at this motel for two nights. I thought the place looked cute from the outside. The front sign displayed two funny sayings which gave the place even more personality. Our room was extremely clean! The beds were pretty comfortable. The shower had lots of hot water and excellent water pressure. The adjoining diner would be super convenient. Next time we’ll have to try it out. The motel was conveniently located close to many great restaurants. It was our first stay in the area but discovered not one but two delicious places - Don Patron’s for amazing Mexican and Brenda’s for crazy good New York style pizza. Deep Creek State Park and Swallow Falls are only 16 minutes away and it’s also only 38 minutes from Blackwater Falls, WV. I’d highly recommend this motel to anyone looking to stay close to Deep Creek, MD without breaking the bank. I’d definitely go back in the future.

Amazingly, Clean and Comfortable Stay

We were in town for a funeral service and needed somewhere close to stay in Oakland. This motel was perfect. The rooms only have full size beds but that wasnt a deal breaker for us.  The room was exceptionally clean and beds were very comfortable. We also appreciated the fact that the parking lot was very well lit at night. During the night, it was pretty quiet so sleep was not interrupted. 

The 3rd Street Diner attached to the motel was very good as well. Great food and great service.

Would Definitely Stay Again

We had room 21, about three doors from the highway.  Parking was right at the door.  The woman at the registration desk had the personality of a potato.  The lady the next morning on check-out was very friendly.

The room was small, but clean.  My wife said the bathroom had the best lighting she ever had encountered in a hotel or motel.  The sink and shower water pressure were excellent.  There were two double beds and only one night stand with light between them.   Internet speed was pretty good at 25 Mbps down and 24 Mbps up.

There was no cell service though supposedly AT&T has it in Oakland.  There was a large screen TV, the usual small fridge and a microwave.  There was no coffee maker.  There were few plugs for charging devices or plugging in a lap top at the table.

A pocket door is used for the bath.  Because there is a lock in the middle of the finger grip to open and close it, it was difficult to do so.  In addition, the door stuck and was very noisy when opening or closing.  The bath towels were rather thin and there were no extras, only two hand towels, two bath towels and two wash cloths.

Light poured in around the window and door to the room.  In addition, traffic on the main road as well as those hotel a/c units in other rooms could be heard going on and off all night (we kept ours turned off). Neither of us had a very good night's sleep because of the noise and the light.

It's a shame the associated diner does not open for breakfast except on weekends, as the only places for breakfast were Denny's (in the opposite direction from where we were headed, plus we do not like them) and fast food restaurants, such as McDonald's.  They were too crowded to stop and it was over an hour on the road heading south before we reached somewhere to get coffee and a bite.  A locally produced Oakland restaurant guide listed at least one restaurant that we saw that was permanently closed.

Bad Night's Sleep

My wife and I love to visit Garrett County at least once a year and this motel is certainly one of the best priced. It has some age on it but the room was clean and we appreciated the refrigerator and microwave. We would have loved a coffee maker but the restaurant on premises was good for early AM coffee. The only negative was the musty smell when we arrived but we took care of that with an air freshener. We would certainly return here in the future.

Western MD Getaway

I had a reservation.  Check in was okay.  The lady could have smiled!!  I have stayed here numerous times.  They have remodeled the rooms. Very nice I might add.  The only negative is NO breakfast.  The office is only open certain hours.

MD Travel

Stayed while on a ‘covid-safe vacation’ in summer 2020. Management was very nice about my special request not to enter office as a precaution and have a contact-free check-in. After I paid online, they unlocked the door for me and left the key in the room. Room entry from parking lot, so no need to walk through hallway or ride elevator.

Nice older motel.. Check in was easy, great rate, clean room, refrigerator and microwave.  The only problem was I could not get their WIFI to connect.  They do not have a free breakfast but there is a nice dinner connected to the motel.  Great food!!

Sunday night in Oakland

My riding group (motorcycles) stays here once a year, over-night, as we head down into WV for the mountain roads there.  The breakfast is wholesome and inexpensive.  The rooms are clean and comfortable.  The staff very friendly.  The WiFi is OK, but not particularly fast.  But we don't stay here to stay connected, but to get away.  Good parking, too.

Cozy, clean, with a great little restaurant!

Stayed here last night.  On the outside, a typical 1950’s motor inn. Got to the room and found it to be floor to ceiling recently remodeled.  Great TV channel lineup, rock solid 10MB(measured speed) WiFi. Spotlessly cleaned. One of the cleanest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. Much cleaner than any of the national chains.  Small diner attached with great locally prepared food. If looking for a place to stay in the area of Oakland, this is a great bet. Close to attractions.
