On the morning of Saturday, January 6, 2024 we made a reservation online for the Rodeway Inn in Westminster, Ma. There was a storm approaching so we decided to stay in the area overnight so we could ski at Wachusett on Saturday and Sunday. We paid in full online (directly through the hotel's site), and when we arrived at 9:30pm, the front desk told us they didn't have any rooms available. They stated that the hotel was now a shelter. So, we had to scramble to find a new hotel in the area. Since we were two hours from home, and the snow had started, we paid almost $400 for a room at the Leominster Doubletree (which is a wonderful hotel). In addition, Rodeway did charge our card and we have not received a refund of the $130 paid. I'm not sure how they can accept paid-in-full and non-refundable reservations when it isn't a hotel. We weren't expecting a lot with this reservation (just needed a place to sleep), but we definitely weren't expecting this!

Don't Make an Online Reservation!

Beware... the Choice brand hotels lets you book a room, but the hotel is no longer there.  My husband showed up, and it is now some kind of shelter.  The people there said it isn't a hotel anymore, and we'd have to contact the company to get a refund.  Beware, there is no Rodeway inn at this location anymore.

Hotel is no longer there!

So I got there and didn't even stay 5 minutes! Let me start with the service. I am still in shock the next day with how horrifying the little man that runs this place and his wife really are! The Patels. I asked for a new sheet (very politely) because the sheets had stains and pubic hairs in both beds to the room. He started to yell at me! And refused my request for just ONE sheet. Towels were disgusting too but I was tired and decided not to use their bathroom for how gross it was. I was stunned at how he treats his guests. So he made me go show him the stains while continuing to yell at me and actually shoved the blankets (which wasn't what I was even complaining about (if you'd like to call it that) and those were even worse but I don't use them anyway) IN THE FACE to smell them while he's still screaming how the stains are from rust. They definitely were not rust stains and even so, if that's the excuse he'd like to use instead of admitting they're a lazy and disgusting motel, then I should've been granted a clean sheet. I'm assuming they don't have extras because he told me that 3 people just left the room and he and his wife personally cleaned it. We switched rooms to next door at this point and he yells and demands me to check the next beds. There's a crowd outside the motel watching him treat me this way. And one of them told me that the temp doesn't even work in that room on top of it being nasty as well. No locks that are safe on the doors. They started to yell at me about giving me a refund. It took me 2 hours to get my refund situated and it was like pulling teeth. And I didn't even get the whole refund. These people are crooks. Bugs. Dirty. Horrifying. Awful awful awful customer service. I don't even care if it's old and outdated. But to be that disgusting is SO unacceptable!!! The lady should keep her rabbid dog of a husband on a leash in the back! Not to mention I paid for a king bed. They brought me to 2 double bed rooms. This place should be condemned!!!

Horrible!

We were happy with our stay at this hotel. It met our expectations in regards to pricing,  cleanliness and comfort.If you are looking for an inexpensive no frills stay, this is a  fine choice. The room was pretty rundown and dated but not dirty and it definitely provided a good night sleep. Definitely below the level of hotel I typically book, but  it met our needs in terms of the location and budget for our one night stay.

Comfortable and clean older two-star hotel

I will let the pictures speak for themselves.  Although, I think, the room was clean, the overall presentation was less than welcoming.  Choice Hotels should be ashamed. I paid $130.00 to spend the night. (The last picture is the bathroom window.)

Stay Away

Room was immaculately clean.  It had a small frig, microwave & TV with decent assortment of channels.  Good value.  Coffee and muffin breakfast was adequate with a tiny space to eat in the room.  Decor could use a refresh but was serviceable.

Better expericence

I wasn't expecting much but I never could've imagined what this experience would be like. The only good comment I can make is that the man at check in was polite. Otherwise, the room was disgusting: large cigarette burns in the carpet; potato chips on the floor beneath the bed; stains of 'who knows what' on the chairs; a heater that took until the morning to warm the small room; very sticky bathroom floor; visible grime on the telephone keypad; ancient bedspread that smelled bad. We'd have left but for that fact it was snowing outside and we were exhausted from an 11 hour drive. I slept very poorly and couldn't wait to check out. This old motel should be gutted and remodeled. I'd have been better off sleeping in my car.

Horrible

We needed a room in the area for 1 night, stayed here.  It was fine.  It is an older motel with some upgrades.  Room was clean, serviceable and fairly priced.  Very convenient location, decent restaurants in the area.  Will probably stay here again.

Fair deal

The Rodeway Inn looks iffy, like it could be just any boxy motel from the street. The reception office was hot, and we worried about whether or not the air conditioning would work. What we found was a really comfortable, spotless small room, a terrific refrigerator that really keeps food and drinks cold, and a very nice gentleman at the reception. You could not ask for better, especially for the price, in a last minute motel refuge from driving rain.

A surprisingly clean and comfortable stop on a road trip through Massachusetts

Stayed at the Rodeway Inn for 3 nights while at a business meeting in the area. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Owner was very friendly and it was a good value.  Wachusett State Park and ski area are a short distance away.
