Gorgeous renovations and upgrades! The Mercantile Hotel is such a gem, and now it's even better with newly renovated rooms that upgrade the rooms to a new level. Clean, comfy and home-like. You will love it here!

Best Hotel In McCloud Now Better with Upgrades and Refresh!

The owners clearly have a vision. Old West ambiance and modern hospitality. What an amazing place.

Rooms are spacious and clean. Great town. So worth the trip. Dropped my daughter off at her internship. Can’t wait to pick her up and stay here again. Thank you!

A very special place to stay

The rooms are comfortable and well equipped.
There are steep steps to negotiate but the service lift is available.
The old store has been refurbished at some expense and is interesting.
Sadly the on-site restaurant was closed mid week which was disappointing given the room rate however the food at the McCloud Hotel was first class.
The breakfast offered was next door and it was excellent, sadly the credit only covered the price of a coffee and muffin.

Could just try a bit harder.

I loved my little room that actually wasn't so little -- really, it was spacious and retained some historical character.  Bathroom so big I coulda had a party in it with an exceedingly nice night light.  Very comfortable chair and ottoman for curling up to read  ... or nap ... and individual temperature control.  Quiet.  My bed springs did squeak a little and the pillow was harder than I like.  Nice fluffy soft towels.  Big flight of stairs to climb but my bag was light.  All the rooms are upstairs over the first floor and there is a keyed entry door next to the candy shop.  Was disappointed I couldn't get a latte until 8:30. So it is a little unusual.  But

I really liked this place.

My boyfriend and our dog had a lovely stay at the McCloud Mercantile Hotel. We stayed one night in the dog friendly room. It was ground level and had easy access to the lawn outside. The room was wonderfully decorated and cozy. Breakfast included a meal credit at the in house cafe. Friendly staff. 

Lovely Stay!!!

We booked 4 days at $744 back in May 2021 for a fishing vacation on Aug 31st and they immediately charged the entire amount to my credit card. But 9 days before our trip, the state shut down all fishing sites due to all the northern fires. I immediately went to Expedia to cancel. It said this hotel will only refund 50%, yes $372!!! I completed the cancellation and immediately sent an email telling the hotel that our vacation was cancelled thru no fault of us and we felt we were entitled to a full refund. They have not answered 2 emails. I found NOTHING in their website letting people know you will lose half you room fee if you cancel. I also noted that their hotel is fully booked for the days we cancelled, so for two nights they are receiving double fees!!! Imagine how much money a hotel can collect if they only give back 50% of prepaid room fees. We are seniors on a fixed income so this is hard for us to understand. I'm not sure how this is legal.

Four Fantastic nights at Mccloud’s Mercantile Hotel. 

Kevin and Darlene have  done an unbelievable job at restoring this historical building with such a rich past.  The whole town is so quaint with such welcoming people.  The location between Shasta and the different local Falls is ideal, waking up every morning with Mt Shasta outside the hotel is a site to be seen. Again Kevin and Darlene are marvelous hosts with a world of knowledge about the area.  Don’t think twice about staying at the Mercantile Hotel in McCloud. BTW last night we had a wonderful meal the “Harvest” restaurant on the McCloud Golf Course one mile away from the hotel. Other restaurants in town are equally great.

Four Fantastic Nights in McCloud

We stayed at the McCloud Mercantile Hotel during a 4 day extended 4th of July Holiday Weekend.  We had a delightful time.  The hosts were attentive,  friendly and very helpful.  The location in town was perfect.  There was plenty of free parking.  Our room was very spacious, clean and well appointed.  The themed rooms were imaginative and complimented the character of McCloud and the small town atmosphere.   All of the rooms are on the second floor, which being sensitive to noise, we really found appealing.  Our room was amazingly quiet.  The credit for breakfast at several restaurants in town was a really nice bonus feature.  There is a choice of several restaurants, two of which are in the main building on the first floor.   This was not our first stay in McCloud but it was the first time at the McCloud Mercantile Hotel.  We enjoyed our stay very much.  When we return to McCloud we will definitely stay at the Mercantile Hotel.

Comfortable themed rooms compliment the character of the town

This was our second stay at the Mercantile Hotel in less than a year snd we couldn’t have been happier.  We stayed in the Arts and Crafts room which is enormous and beautifully updated. The walls and ceiling’s appeared to be freshly painted and were clean snd fresh. The tile in the oversized bathroom as well as the sinks and toilet all seemed to be relatively new. 

We enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the cafe on the corner in the morning. The pancakes are light and delicious. 

McCloud and the Mercantile Hotel are our new favorite stops on the road from Sonoma to Portland or Sonoma to Bend.

Fantastically updated hotel

We stayed as a family this weekend and the room was really nice, amazing jacuzzi in the bathroom, very clean. Friendly and nice people. Community kitchen with fridge and microwave. Get very comfortable and safe. Even tho people there do not wear masks. The breakfast place is delicious. Awesome coffe! :) would Defnetly be back
