I don’t even know where to start. Had booked a room to come there and study for a test. Needed to get away from home for a bit because of too much commotion there. I had booked a room a day or two before with confirmation code and everything and when I got there to check in the two clerks started whispering to themselves as if I wasn’t even standing there. After about two minutes of whispering, one of them turns to me and said they had given my room away and made up some lame excuse that walk-ins take priority. Um duh, I had RESERVED the room and was there at check in time. Just as well, the place is a dump, the parking lot is HORRIBLE, and the clerks were terribly unprofessional. I had driven a little ways only to get there and be told that my room was given away. Doesn’t matter anyway. I passed my test and learned a valuable lesson. You get what you pay for and I saved my $50. Never ever again will I stay at this place. 

Exit! Stage, NEVER AGAIN!!!

This property has been shut down by the Michigan City Fire Marshall effective May 1, 2021 and has been condemned.  It needs to be taken down from all the travel sites.  The occupants were cooking food in their rooms and setting off the smoke alarms and were being pulled out of the walls.

According to the Michigan City Board of Works, this venue is due to be condemned for multiple unresolved long standing violations. It is dirty, poorly maintained and has been known to have infestations. We stopped at night and as soon as we saw the place we went elsewhere. BEWARE.

We arrived, and were surprised to see that the desk clerk had trouble finding our reservations. He eventually did, and we drove around to the rooms. The lot was potholed, and other residents were hanging outside their rooms looking like longterm tenants. My room had a hole in the window, the lights did not work in the main room and bathroom, and there was a strong stale smell in the room. The carpet was nasty looking and smelly; I kept my shoes on. When I went outside to the car, the door would not lock. My friend had the opposite issue; after opening the first time, the door would not unlock a second time. My friend went to the front desk to report the problems; the clerk came by, forced the door handle in the opposite direction, and got it open. He then asked,'How come it worked the first time?' as if it was our fault the door was faulty. I asked for a different room, and he said there were no more rooms. He then said he would give me a room on the other side. So, there WERE other rooms; he lied. At this point, we decided to not stay there. We demanded a refund, and the clerk became combative, telling us we were dealing with a booking agent, and not him. We went to the car, called the booking service, and got them to cancel the second night. They called the 'hotel' and told us that the manager refused to refund the first night's money. They got a night's income from us for nothing. A total low-class, unscrupulous, rude clerk/owner. If you want to be disrespected, insulted, and to sleep in a dirty, unsafe place, by all means stay here. You may be sick afterward; it is not clean at all. Stay away, for the safety of your family and friends. I cannot say that strongly enough!

DO NOT STAY HERE

Located on the south side of Michigan City, this was the cheapest hotel I found when looking for a room for my Thanksgiving trip. It didn't have very good reviews, but I thought perhaps people's expectations were too high. After all, I just needed a bed and a bathroom, right?

So... the first thing I noticed when I found the room was that the tv was already on. At first I worried that someone was already in there but as I looked through the window it looked vacant, and the keycard worked, so I figured it was ok.

When I opened the door I was almost knocked over by a smell of cigarette smoke. This was distasteful but it was late and I was tired so I just figured I would get used to it. I'm not allergic, I just don't like the smell.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a small refrigerator in the room. I made good use of it.

I discovered, after flipping channels and then turning the tv off, why it had been on when I got to the room: it turned itself back on. I had to unplug it to get it to go off.

No shampoo was provided, but the towels were clean and the bathroom not bad. The water was nice and hot. The heater was nice and hot.

Many gas station stores are within a block, and Walmart about two blocks, so it was very convenient.

Bottom line: I've stayed in worse. The price was right. There was no reason to reserve ahead, even during Thanksgiving week the place was maybe 15% full. I'd stay there again if I didn't find a better deal.


It's cheap...

The lady at the front desk checking me in was a complete idiot. She asked for my last name and instead of asking for my confirmation email or drivers license or asking the spelling of my last name she just assumed she found it because someone else had a similar last name. After telling her no that wasn't my first name and that I didn't make the reservation on Expedia and I was only staying one night she than asks to see my drivers license and email.  Finally she gets it straight who I am and I check in and the room isn't even ready when I arrive. I sit and wait and finally it's ready. It wasn't a terrible room. At $39 a night don't expect a Hilton. There were burn holes in the quilt which was gross but overall it was fine for the night. Some shampoo would have been nice and some hand towels but again I made do. No tv remote that I could find anywhere in the room. Shower head could have been installed a little higher I kept hitting my head on it. 
Otherwise Room was fine for myself and my 8 year old son who were in town for a family funeral.

Don't expect a Hilton

This room we got was booked on-line only due to weather conditions, we got there and it looked like an old run down apartment building.. We checked in, checked out the room. The sheets were old, dirty, stained, burn marks, Tv did not work at all, no remote, frig was dirty with mold and grime in it. The bathroom light did not work, the phone did not work, there was scum in the bath tub. It was a filthy, disgusting, dirty, looks like a crack house. Read the other reviews, this should not be allowed to be advertised on the sites, there apparently is no inspection for this hotel, if there was it would be condemned and burnt to the ground! TOTALLY NASTY. THE CLERK WOULD NOT GIVE US A REFUND EITHER, HE SAID THERE WAS A 15 MINUTE RULE AND WE WERE NOT EVEN THERE 15 MINUTES. WHAT A JOKE!

THE HOTEL IS A COMPLETE FILTHY, NASTY, DIRTY, SLUM ! SAVE YOUR MONEY

This is a hell hole. Run run, Run.  this is a known drug spot in the area.  They have people selling Meth/ Crack.  You may get killed in this spot, people will try and come in on you as well scam you out of money.  This place is the worse hotel I've ever encountered in my 35 yrs.  This is a TRAP SPOT/ Drug spot.  Stay away. They will not refund you.  If you have any standards about yourself you will not want to stay here.  This place is a mess.

Trap spot

My friend and I book 2 rooms but on the day we arrived, my friend were told they don't have her in the system even though she receive an email confirmation for the booking. As for me they have a smoking room for me even though i have booked a non smoking one, I even show them my confirmation. The lady at the check in told me they don't have any other room available as they are fully book. After going back and forth, another guy say he will show me the room, i followed and once he open the door, the cigarette smell hit me in the face and once again I told him I book a non smoking room. He was annoy and start yelling at me. He claim that the room is non smoking and am not sure what I was talking about. He say either I take the room or leave. So my friend and I were both kick out of the premises even though it is not our fault that they mess up, instead of being apologetic, he tried to intimidated me into taking the smoking room and when fail, he kicks us out.

Would have given no star at all if that is an option, rude customer service!

The motel is located on the southern edge of Michigan City. It's Spartan-style, like almost all American motels. The lady at the service was very nice and helpful, checking in and out went fast and smooth. Nearby, about 500 meters away, there's a Walmart supermarket where you can shop.
