The location is the best in Frankfort, downtown, near the beach.  Understanding that this is an old hotel, the charm is in the unique layout and rooms. The staff was friendly and check in was easy.
However, the restaurant was closed one night for some reason, i assume it was worker related. The power went out on the day we left, and nobody could figure out how to turn it on.
I gave it five stars because it met our expectations.

Location and Charm

Excellent location on main street surrounded by dining options and beach within walking distance. My room was perfect and even had a second floor with a sauna (and not overly expensive as compared to what you might pay for that amenity elsewhere). It is a quaint hotel, not a chain, so keep that in mind. The staff was great. Super friendly, flexible, and helpful. If staying in the area, I'd recommend Hotel Frankfort.

Great experience

Beware room 103. (World Traveler). Recommended to us when we booked the room directly with the hotel. The room overlooks the front porch which becomes a cocktail lounge when the restaurant is open. One of our two windows actually looked over the back of the bartender's head. Happy diners stayed until 10:30 at night. Very noisy. Had to pull our curtains for any privacy. The room has no closet to hang clothes. Only 4 hooks. The ventilation system emits a constant drone that never stops. We were informed at check in that our $327 a night room wouldn't be cleaned during our 3 night stay. On a positive note the front desk staff were very helpful, friendly and supportive. Management less so.

Beware room 103 (World Traveler)

The hotel staff were very helpful and obviously care for the property. The room we stayed in was very quirky as these older hotels can be (sauna above the bed and spiral staircase at the foot of the bed - watch your head!). The room was very clean and had everything we needed. The only real issue was the bed was very much in need of replacement. Squeaky and soft and lumpy. We both had achy backs in the morning. Also a faulty lamp but we did let them know about that. The room was pricey for what it was but we were just appreciative of finding one of the last rooms in town at the last minute. The attached restaurant provided quick service at our request and we had a sufficient dinner there - just very salty.

Caring staff, uncomfortable bed

We stayed at the Frankfort Inn for our wedding anniversary and
 it was fantastic, as always. My wife and I stay here a few times a year and always have a great time. EVERYONE that works at the hotel is amazing and you can usually find Judy, the owner mingling with the guests. This hotel has some “regular rooms” that are really nice and some really special rooms that you can relax and loose yourself in. The bar and the food at the restaurant make it so there is no reason to leave the hotel. I recommend this hotel to my friends and family. You would be missing out if you didn’t giving a try. 👍🥰

An exceptional place to experience yourself

It was a very nice room and nice shops to visit in town.  My husband and I like to relax after shopping and wondering town so it was very nice to have comfortable furniture to sit on in front of the fireplace.
I did think the room and the food was a bit over priced since we stayed out of season in October.

Beautiful room

What a charming  hotel!  We needed a one night stopover for my husband's business meeting and it was perfect.  We arrived just as the sun was setting over the lake, making for perfect photos just a hop from the hotel.  The hotel was very clean, well cared for, beds were comfortable and the staff was amazing.  They seemed so happy to be there and to welcome us.  We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant, which was good.  We even tried a Michigan wine - fun experience!  Again, our server went out of her way to help us...I would highly recommend this as a stop along Lake Michigan - the beach is within walking distance and is beautiful! 

Perfect stopover sleep!

Well where do I begin? 
First the young lady at the desk was dressed like she just got out of bed. She gave us the room key and pointed out the many rules that needed to be followed, and the prepackaged muffins if we wanted to munch in the morning for a 300+ dollar a night room. 
Then pointed to a hallway that looked like it was out of the Shining with what looked like scaffolding boards for a ceiling. 
Then the cheap door lock that opened into the cheesiest decorated room I have ever seen. But the best part was a spiral staircase in the floor that lead to a dark room in the floor ( No heads up ) 
The railing was loose, but we had to find what it was, and if there was anyone down there. Well after braving the stairs we found a two person spa with used towels in it and a couple of lounge chairs that looked like they come from a pimps house in the 70's. Needless to say not much sleep was had wondering if the ghost of Sugar Bear was going to come strolling up the stairs. 
The TV looked like it may fall off the wall at any moment. The 70's brass style canopy bed was super wobbly like it was never bolted together all the way, and the decorations looked like it may have come from someone's basement. And with the lack of quality craftmanship that was presented through out the building, I'm guessing it was.
Needless to say we were very disappointed seeing this was our last night of vacation, and I had remembered it from the past as a great place to stay. 
++ Suggestions++ 
Shut down and get someone that knows what they are doing and renovate from the front door to the rooms with decent building material, not wood you may have found at a defunct lumber scrap pile. 
OUR??? charge a price for the room that reflects what you are going to get, say 50 to 60 dollars.

Gimp Room Surprise

My buddy and I get away for a couple days once a year for a "Dad's Trip", if we're lucky (he lives out west). After camping a night in Northport and heading down M22, we were ready for a warm shower and a good beer. The shower was great, my queen bed was comfy (not sure about his :)) and the location was awesome. We hit the beach, Stormcloud and the shops, then the Market on Saturday morning (which was phenomenal). Thanks so much to staff for helping us with ice for the cooler, it made not having a fridge no big deal. This is definitely on the list for places to stay with the wife.

Dad's Trip

Excellent hotel ~ friendly staff, great location close to beach, restaurants & shopping.  We stayed in the Up North room and I was very impressed with everything about the room - clean, bed was very comfortable and we especially liked the sauna and hot tub.  I would definitely stay here again!
