The hotel is shabby and run down with old furniture and fixtures. The rooms are small and barely furnished. The carpets in the hall and rooms are grungy and the whole motel has a stale funky odor. The entrance from the road is tricky and the front of the property is  occupied by haphazardly arranged RVs. Go elsewhere .

Do Not Spend you time here

The person at the front desk was very rude, insulted me and my children, because my son is a mixed race. Asked if my son was really my son. Asked me if I really booked the room because I used the name I go by, as shown on my driver's license. Told me he didn't feel that was my real name. Had questions about a policy they had and because two of us were asking questions, the guy started shouting at us, telling my children to get out and as my son was saying I'll wait in the car, he told me he would not let us check in. 

Avoid at all costs

This was absolutely the worst hotel or motel we've stayed at for the past 30 years. Everything was cheap, cheap cheap. There are no coffee makers in the room for starters and only one in the lobby with the weakest tasting coffee. The bath towels were almost as thin as a paper towel and you could barely wrap one around your body. The blankets were ridiculously old, worn and thin. The through the wall air conditioner sounded like a B-52 engine on take off.  The photo shown on Trip Advisor is NOT like any of the rooms at this hotel. Stay elsewheres! 

Worst hotel we've stayed at in 20 years.

We booked here to attend a wedding for friends in the area. Besides us, to other parties that we know checked into this hotel as well. We all had aweful experiences.

1. On arrival, we were advise by one frtiend that saw in the parking lot to check our AC, because his didn't work and he had to have them get him another room.

2. When we opened the door we were hit with the mustiest smell you could imaginne. Our AC worked, but we had to open the window and leavit open sll night to clear the room of the smell. 

The second day as we prepared to head into Minneapolis to explore, she was in the middle of the shower, when they cut the water off. When I called the front desk, the gentlemen was apologetic and explained that there "was a bad leak and it needed to be fixed." I did mentioned that some warning would have been nice. My girl had to wait 30 mins for wter to come back on before she could rinse off. 

3. Our 2nd couple of friends came in the following day. We warned them of all of our experiences, and they were like...."oh neat, should be fun".  They didn't have to wait long, as they found that in THEIR room the AC and water were fine, but the tub would not drain.

 Just....pay the extra to stay in one of the other hotels in Hastings. If you can't find one, St Paul is only about 115 to 20 mins away. Avoid this place, I really do not foresee any changes to user experiences at the Coratel in Hastings.

Parting comment. The couple that had gotten married heard about our experience and demanded that we check out and stay in one of their guest rooms for our final night in town. I literally didn't care about losing my money to get out of that hotel a day earlier. 



Just...don't do it. Run Forrest Run!!

This hotel is terrible!!!  First the whole hotel has a peculiar odor.   Our room was very outdated but I could have lived with that.  The bed was terrible and broken.  There was a massive sag to the middle.  My husband said they must not have center supports in or they were broken.  Then the whole bed was slanted where your feet were much higher then your head.  The pillows were like flat rocks.  There was one bonus you had nice hot water and there was no shortage of that.  But when you dry off you get a small piece of sand paper!!!  I swear I took a layer of skin off when drying off.

Horrible experience!!

After reading several recent tripadvisor reviews, I was leery of staying at the Coratel Inn & Suites in Hastings but I thought I would give them a try and I am glad I did.  My room had everything I find important and at a very reasonable price.  The bed was very comfortable, wifi was excellent, in room refrigerator and microwave worked fine.  Bathroom was clean and well maintained.

While my room itself rated a 5, the somewhat shabby appearance of the exterior and surrounding property will force me to give an overall rating of 4.  Frankly, when I turned into the property from Highway 61 I at first thought that they were closed.  The outside signage is minimal, the front lawn is rather unkempt and there is a chain link fence in the front that seems to serve no purpose.  But overall, I will definitely stay there again next time I am overnight near Hastings.

Nice stay at the Coratel Inn & Suites, Hastings

The beds and pillows are terrible. The outside door doesn’t latch. So, anyone can enter the building. Also, there is no elevator. So, if you have anything heavy, you’ll need to carry it up stairs. The room darkening blind works, though.

Terrible

Check in was a problem as I had previously booked 2 days then called in to change it to 4 but apparently this did not show up on the computer.  Got to room, took a shower and the hair dryer did not work.  Someone came to fix it and gave me a different hair dryer, as he actually had to replace the GFCI as it was not working.  Problem is there are no mirrors in the room near an outlet, in fact we could not turn one of the lights on as there was no outlet near where the light had been placed.  At this time we also asked for extra pillows and extra towels. The towels are a joke, they are not even big enough to wrap your hair in after washing it and they only provided two.  The following day after the room was cleaned, they took the extra towels and only left us with the two again. There was building going on behind the hotel and work continued there until 9pm, so it was quite noisy.  We had to call and ask for WIFI password as it was not provided to us at check in.

would not stay here again

very clean comfortable place. The owners were kind and gave me the best rate possible. I stayed 3 days, felt safe. Small fridge and microwave in my room was an added feature. Close to great restaurants and easy access to all highways. The bed was very comfortable and room was adjustable heat was good. Will stay there again if in town, and highly recommend it!

Peace and Quiet

While our room was fine we were disappointed with the booking process. We were given a price over the phone for a non smoking room, but when we confirmed with cr card details the price increased, for no apparent reason. We felt a little deceived actually. As to breakfast, if 3 different pre-wrapped pastries (and they were lousy), juice and coffee is breakfast, I must be tough to please. No cereal, yoghurt, fruit, toast, milk...it was a joke. The small dining area located in reception had only a few chairs, and all food was gone before 9 am, management had turned off the juice and coffee machines and removed any pastries. Since the the desk was unattended (a sign was displayed giving a phone number to call) there was no one to talk to. A few other guests were as dismayed as we were. While inexpensive, we will keep driving pass this hotel in future.
