We got a late start in booking a hotel for our granddaughter's graduation and Expedia advertised the Royal Inn as a place to stay at a reasonable price. Since there 65,000 additional people in town for Missouri Univ. graduations every place was fully booked except the Holiday Inn Express which wanted $289/night for either 2 rooms they had left.
We stayed in room 221 on the nights of May 10 &11.
The room was filled with the strong odor of an orange based cleaner. there was a large mold spot on the bathroom ceiling, the smell of sewer gas permeated the room; after the orange odor dissipated. Before we retired to bed I spotted bedbugs and other miscellaneous bugs crawling around the room.  I informed the front desk and they ostensibly sprayed   room. The citters are still there. In addition, it appears to me that the place is also as a house of prostitution.  I can't prove that, it's only my opinion.

Traveled to the area for an event and needed a budget hotel option. Royal Inn was the only spot around, so I opted for it. Rooms are small, but it gets the job done. Large refrigerator and microwave included. Only issue was the lack of outlets for charging, but I dealt with it.

No frills

We booked a room through Travelu 6 weeks before the trip. I confirmed it directly with the hotel the same day, 6 weeks before our trip. I received email confirmation. When we arrived they had no room.
Total pigs to deal with. Steer clear of this place.

Reservation was Not Honored

I would stay again for the 39.99 or $109 for 3 nights. Staff were friendly and tried to be accommodating. Property is newly acquired and manager reports they will be improving overtime. I stayed 4 nights. There are camera's that are monitored on each level. There is only a dead bolt on the doors, no other safety measure. Cleaning of property is done ONLY during A.M. Come early evening, trash starts to build up around trash cans. Someone's dog pooed on walk way and they didn't clean it up, but was gone the next morning. However, I think, if I had called the desk, they would have come clean it up. My pillows smelled of a man and a woman. Rooms are dated and furnishings/ bedding are well worn. There was food left in refrigerator from previous guest, but refrigerator and microwave were clean.. Outer edge of floor and baseboards were dirty. The phone and inside of trash cans were disgusting. The rest of the room was clean, decent and smelled nice. There were a few guests, whose character would be questionable, but contact with them, was friendly. Vending machines were mostly empty or not working. Elevator doesn't work. So that means, carrying your luggage up to the second and third levels. This was taxing. There is only one staircase to upper levels, so this could be issue if there were a fire. I'm a 49 yr. old female and felt 8/10 safe staying there by myself.  There were NO bugs seen during stay. Being in room 232 which is on front corner of building close to hiway, there was traffic noise. Windows don't open. AC/heating unit was in good working order and not too noisy. Flat screen tv with remote and cable access and free wifi. Pizza places deliver and motel is close to shopping and restaurants, several within walking distance. Safe area of city. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean. There was no cold water at the sink.

Decent, would stay again. NO bugs.

Royal taj provides great service. They have very good food.This place is always super busy. We barely get reservation for 5;30 two days ahead.
We always had great service and did in past. Manager is always wonderful.
