To any unsuspecting travelers: DO NOT STAY AT YELLOWSTONE RIVER LODGE!!!!!!!  

The scenery may be beautiful, but the owners are HORRIFIC!!!!

They advertised cabins at 6 person occupancy then charged us for children!  They wanted to charge us $100 a day extra for each child!  We talked them downto $50 a day for the first child, then $25 for the second.  Oh, and babies were free....(We brought our own portacrib!)  If we hadn't negotiated them down they would have charged us, on top of the advertised $215/night another $200/night, up to a whopping $415/night!!!!  The fees went from $645 to $1245 for a three night stay!  This is FALSE ADVERTISING!!!!!

The cabins themselves were not cabins but tiny houses that they brought in and placed on cement blocks.  The view was good but to get to the river you had to traverse the tick infested overgrowth or walk down to the beach to reach the river.

We stayed at one of the four guest rooms for three nights.  We were given ONE towel and ONE washcloth for a three night stay!  The water smelled so bad that my husband said he could smell it in the other room!  It smelled worse that sulpher mineral water!  When I called up to the lodge to request more towels, NO ONE picked up!!!  SO MUCH FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!  
THE WOMAN HAD THE GALL TO TELL ME, "SOME PEOPLE NEVER SHOWER!"  Trust me I checked for bedbugs before I got in the sheets!

Right!  Like I'm going to a wedding smelling like river water....Oh wait!  The river water smelled better!!!!!!!

The man owner was ready to refund my kids the extra fees, but then his wife came downstairs and told me the fees were for double occupancy (Not the advertised sleeps 6!)  She was horribly rude, come to find out this was not the first time she has bait and switched customers!  

If you have reservations there, don't plan on getting your deposit money back!!!  We had planned to stay there 2 years ago for another wedding, put down a deposit, which she conviently couldn't remember even though we had the cancelled check, and never got credit or refund of the deposit!  
Covid kept us from attending the wedding. 

They have a check list for guest checking out, empty the trash, turn out the lights, turn off the airconditioning, turn off the fan etc.  I'm surprised they didn't want us to change the sheets!!!  I guess I should leave that part out since it might give them ideas!!!!

I am checking my credit card daily to make sure the woman is not charging my card any extra fees!  I have notified the company not to accept any charges from them.

YELLOWSTONE RIVER LODGE IS BAD NEWS!!!!!!  Take it from a customer who got TAKEN!  

It's a SHAME that such a beautiful property is so poorly run.  If they can't take care of guests, maybe they should sell it or hire someone to take care of it properly!

 

BAD!!!!!

They overcharged us, saying we didn’t indicate we had children. My receipt proved otherwise.  The garbage was full when we got there, and we got charged a dump fee of $216. Crazy. We had one night of pizza, and two kiddos toys boxes. Very bad experience.

Bad Experience

Although we just stayed the night on our journey from Glacier NP to the Black Hills, WY, it was so restful. Our room was steps away from the Yellowstone River and I was able to dip my toes in the fast moving flow. Just gorgeous views. The room was very comfy and quiet. Our hosts were gracious and helpful. There is also a nice fire pit with lots of chairs, along the river and open skies! Would definitely stay again but for a longer time.

Beautiful river views

Start by saying that of the 10 hotels we stayed in on our cross-country drive, this absolutely had the most comfortable bed!  The furnishings and toiletries were also wonderful- clearly real thought went into these.  The cabins were quite near the Yellowstone River, so you could go over at night and watch the stars.  Really “away from it all” with a small porch with a table and chairs where we sat and ate our meals while watching the river flow. Highly recommend.

Unique and Wonderful 

Due to my girlfriend's slower than hoped recovery from knee surgery, we aborted our MT camping plans and booked lodging accommodations instead. We luckily stumbled on the Yellowstone River Lodge and, man, what an awesome find!. Our "River Room" was perfect - king size bed, walk-in shower with a rock floor, A/C, and a very nice front porch area for tea in the morning and adult beverages in the evening - all at, IMHO, a very competitive rate. But, wait, there's more... just a few yards away from the Yellowstone River. Brooke, Jan and Dan are wonderful hosts. We're already planning next summer's trip into the area and will be sure to stay here for a few nights. VERY highly recommended!

My wife and I stayed here after visiting Glacier National Park. Our lodge room was one of the nicest rooms in which we’ve stayed. From the river rock bottom walk-in shower, the well appointed decor in the room, the great view of the Yellowstone River near the lodge, beautiful sunsets, and friendly hosts, Yellowstone River Lodge is a wonderful and relaxing place to add to your itinerary! Great location near I-90 if traveling to or from Glacier NP. This is also a perfect place to stay if visiting Red Lodge, Beartooth Highway, the NE entrance to Yellowstone NP, or the east entrance to Yellowstone via Cody, WY. We enjoyed our evening strolls along the river’s edge that offers a picnic and firepit area. This is a family-owned property that is obviously operated with pride and attention to the guests’ experience. 

A great room on the Yellowstone River!

Very nicely maintained cabin-style room in 4-unit bldg. Very clean. Nice decor. Great bed! Unique shower. Nice porch sitting area. No microwave unless asked for. Dan & Jan Sayer very nice hosts. No breakfast available. Easy stroll to bank of river...will stay again as opposed to other available options.

River tranquility

Wow! If you are debating just book it. We only got to stay one night on our way to Yellowstone but could’ve stayed a week. Stunning location clean and the owners are so friendly and accommodating. We stayed in the sunset cabin and the huge picture window and deck gave the cabin amazing views.

Amazing Stay

What a hidden gem!  We had a blast and the cabin was amazing.  Couldn't have asked for better during our stay in Montana.  The owners are super sweet and definitely make sure that you feel at home and have everything you need.  The views from the cabin are breathtaking.  The walk to the river is a very short walk and we loved seeing all the wildlife!  Such a peaceful and quiet location. We can't wait to return!

Dream Vacation!

Awesome location off the beaten path! CLEAN and comfortable!
Our cabin had incredible river views and a nice deck w a grill on it where we cooked a steak and enjoyed a glass of wine!
This is WAY more than a hotel......this is a destination for folks to enjoy Montana!
