Cozy and comfortable. Loved staying at the place. Right next to downtown and staff was very helpful. Parking was right in the front and ambiance was great.

Would definitely recommend to anyone going to Carmel.

So this is one of those small Indian places where the owner has renovated an old nasty motel.  I'm pretty sure all of the photos here are from before the remodel.  The remodeling work is nothing spectacular, but it's a whole new color scheme and surfaces are clean and in very good shape.  Unfortunately this place still has pretty small rooms.  The parking lot is a little awkward and there are now outside areas at all to enjoy -- not even a park bench.  The first time I stayed I was pleasantly suprised - really liked the brand-new bathroom finishes and fridge....especially for the price !  Second time I was really disappointed in a less-than-adequate bathroom cleaning job and maybe not the best bedding.

So...I dunno...overall, they deserve way way more than the two stars they're showing here.  I wouldn't take a date or family here, but for the low-budget traveler, it's ok for a short stay.  Close walk to a 7-11 and a few other restaurants.  NOT a close walk to beach or anything else.  I'm gonna give this an extra star in order to off-set the out-dated and unfair previous reviews.

Need to be fair

Very clean. Needs a clothing rack. Extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back again. Is close to my daughter and her family. Also close to Cannery row, Aquarium, wharf, shopping, and dinning. Not the best place for families with you kids....no pool or things for them to do.

This was a last min reservation so we paid way to much for this room . I would rather sleep in my car. We didn't have carpet in the room, thank goodness. The floors were fithy . I wore socks the whole time. i rub a wet cloth on the floor and it turned it black. Never AGAIN

Terrible VERY DIRTY

Cleanliness below standard, dark rooms, doors without security locks, unpleasant smell in the rooms, unhealthy pillow bites, laundered blankets, dirty carpets, dust everywhere.

Absolutely avoid it!

Long before the freeway, Fremont Street connected Monterey to Seaside.  This hotel was one of a few which people saw as they first entered Monterey.  Each room has a fireplace though no one uses them anymore.  

Like Route 66, staying here is a trip down memory lane, nostaglia.  Motel is quiet as little traffic uses this strech of road.  1960's style furniture which beatniks (google) would enjoy.  Rooms even have burners to cook.

What Motels Were Like

For the price you can expect nothing more than it really is, a hotel to spend just one night, nothing exceptional and nothing very bad, the shower until it's good and the reception at the time of check-in was very attentive.

Okay for one night.

Living homeless, dirty, horrible, smelly, you're going for a walk and you get the feeling that everything is going to be stolen from you!

My girlfriend and I spent one night here during our one-year world tour. Positive: - clean, what's most important - HBO TV - good internet - fair price Improvement: - furniture is older - pillows were dirty but were replaced immediately after complaint

For one or two nights, perfectly fine, it was clean...

Hotel was reasonable to spend the night, small and bad bathroom cleanliness ok reasonable beds and good location free parking and no breakfast on the website said continental, but it didn't.
