I'm glad I had read reviews saying the rooms are good, because the front desk doors were locked at 5:00 p.m. on a Friday; you talk to the employee through a narrow window with thick (bulletproof?) glass. I would have left...

My room with a king bed was fine except for two minor things. One was that the (fairly large) refrigerator had no freezer, so I couldn't keep frozen food to microwave later. The other was that the switches for the bedside lights were about five feet above the floor! (See the photo.) That's my first tip:

I carry a couple of spotlight-type nightlights that I bought at a dollar store. The top rotates so you can point light where you want it. They were handy here, and they're also useful in any unfamiliar room that's pitch black. (An extension cord can help, too, if the outlets are inconvenient.)

The other tip is about the room key. It's the kind without a magnetic stripe. At most hotels, I tap the key on the door lock. Here, you need to hold a particular part of the key next to the lock -- not tap.

This place has better ratings than anywhere else around the same price. Although it's not near any freeway, it takes only 10 minutes to drive downtown.

Bring a night light, other tips

Booked a smoking room by mistake. I didn’t know you could get smoking rooms anymore. But the woman on reception managed to find us a non-smoking room which was good. But she did say the bedside lights weren’t working – they did. But we did need to get some extra towels. Overall it worked but was a bit rough around the edges. Air conditioning sounded like a jumbo jet taking off. When checking out we mentioned to the guy on reception that the fridge was leaking. There was a pool of water on the floor. He never apologised or said he was going to get it fixed. I suspect not. Some people really should not be in the accommodation business.

Rough Around The Edges

We were very pleased staying here. It was a low foot-traffic industrial area with a police station next door and state national guard station across the street, so we felt Very Safe. It was also quiet and clean everywhere. It's a no frills place, but we value A Great Room at a Great Price much more. The management was super polite, the coffee in the morning lobby was tasty, and  I was so happy and surprised to find a perfect little corner shelf midway up near the shower head. How many times did I WISH for THAT while staying other places! :) Oh and the vending machines downstairs in the center had lots of Tasty Options. (Yes, I'm a real person, and no, I'm not related to or being paid by this location. We just REALLY appreciated a lovely stay after a hard night in the VA ER suddenly while in Montgomery.)

QUIET & SAFE, VERY CLEAN OVERNIGHT HOME

I was looking for a place to stay ,last minute, while working in Montgomery. I’ve made it my go to place. The rooms are always very clean. No nasty hotel carpet 🤗! The staff are super accommodating. Love my housekeepers! Recently left a drawer full of stuff when I checked out. It was there waiting for me on my return. Brought it to my room,to return it.Very quiet for a day sleeper. Feels safe ,for a woman traveling alone.Well lit with no random foot traffic. Conveniently located near grocery stores and restaurants.

Work life

Big wet spot on bottom sheet of one of the beds. Supposedly they are doing extra cleaning during covid, but in actuality they didn't even change the bedding. Potato chips in air conditioner vent, food in microwave, hair (yes, seriously) in refrigerator, partially used roll of toilet paper on bathroom floor, towels old and stained. Main lightbulb in room not working, so very dark. Shower head broken and spraying water all over. Rude employee. Lobby closed (though every other hotel / motel has lobby open now). Our only expectation at a Motel 6 was a clean and safe room, and this was a total failure. Absolutely not recommended.

it was ok

Staff was pleasant but somewhat reactive not proactive. Our first room didn’t have a/c and it took almost 3 hrs to get a new room. The floors in the new room were very dirty and we had to keep shoes on for the duration of our stay. The bathtub faucet was broke and wouldn’t turn properly so we only had hot and hotter water available. The beds were surprisingly comfortable and the coffee in the lobby was strong.

One night stay recommend

I was hesitant about staying at a Motel 6 but just needed a quick and cheap place to crash while traveling. The hotel seems as if it was recently renovated. The landscaping was beautiful. The parking lot looked brand new, very clean, well lit, and made me feel safe. The overnight clerk was super nice. The room was clean and bed was comfortable. My husband and I slept well. The room and bathroom were oversized. It’s an old motel but I can definitely say it was an awesome value. 

Pleasantly surprised 

It is far away from any facilities; it needs a complete overhaul.
The manager was unhelpful.  I asked for a room away from the road. She refused
The rooms are dated, dingy and travel worn. 
The front of the air con unit was hanging off. It was TOO noisy to use all night!
There were NO hangers. 
We have paid around the same price for quite varying standards...... that's
acceptable​ IF you get service and satisfaction.

Go somewhere else!

First the door had to be forced opened & closed. The room was smelly, the mirror was nasty, there was dried liquid all down the dresser. There was huge strains on the carpet. The sink had hair in & around it. I did not even look in the shower. When I went door to the office the lady was VERY rude! "I must check the room to make sure you did not do dirty it." We were not even in the room 10 mins. While walking down to the office the handy man was pulling a mattress out of a room & had a huge spray bottle with bed bug killer spraying the mattress & room. When I said something to the lady "NO HE IS SPRAYING FOR OUTSIDE BUGS". I had JUST saw the ladies at that room when we were going to ours. They were putting their bags in their car leaving.
