We booked this hotel because of the pool, when we arrived the pool was closed "due to covid". It was not posted on their website nor was it mentioned when I called and booked the room. When I expressed my frustration and told them that the pool was the reason we booked the room their only offer was to cancel our reservation. I would have canceled however all other hotels nearby were all booked. The rooms were not very clean, the beds were hard and the "breakfast was a joke, unless you enjoy sugary high carb food. I would not recommend this place nor will I be returning!!

Rude staff

We originally had reservations at the Eastwood Inn in Wadena. Which looked shady so we canceled. 
Long story short around about midnight we were looking for a hotel. We came cross the Eastwood Inn in Motley MN. Went in to get a room. The overnight guy was very rude. We got to our room and it had a horrible smell and the floor was dirty had to keep our socks on. They say they have a pool but it appears to be closed.....for years.
Wouldn't stay there again.

Horrible

We had a block of rooms setup for our wedding. Unbeknownst to us they canceled the block and all of the rooms people had already booked. Mind you this was within a month of our wedding. We only found this out when my fiancé called to see if they had any rooms left. We were told they called everyone and no one got back to them about keeping their reservation. We had a room booked under our name for a grandmother and they never called us to confirm. So here we are less then a month away with no place for family and friends to stay. I WILL NEVER suggest this place or use their services again.

Clean, decent sized Hotel for this area! Free Breakfast. Pool and Hot tub. Plenty of parking. Close to several restaurants, stores. Right on Hwy 10. Also close to Moreys fish house store.
Owners care and keep place in decent shape. Newer carpets, decent frigerator with small freezer compartment in room. I would stay here again and think most any traveler would like the place. Only  issue is pop machine is out of order but there is a convenience store about a block away!

Long term room renter in this Hotel.

We stayed here for a basketball tournament weekend with about 12 families. It was reasonably priced, clean and simple. It was perfect for what we needed. The pool area was very nice. The kids enjoyed that. The employees were kind and let us spend the evening in the breakfast room to play card games at the tables. The breakfast was nice. It was a wonderful hotel and we were pleasantly surprised! :)

Simple and clean!

The guy that checked us in had no idea how to charge our room to a different card than the one that was used to hold our rooms. The A/C did not work properly so our 2nd floor room was very warm and we couldn't open the window because the screen was missing. Mattresses were not comfortable at all. I was glad we had brought our own pillows. The hot tub was broken and the pool was very cold. The hinge was rusted and no longer connected on the door leading to the outside from the pool area. I would not stay here again.

Keep driving

we had a room on the main floor. didn't have as bad a stay as some of these other reviewers, but thought it was overpriced.. our room was clean, but slight musty smell. and AC worked.  the beds were OK. breakfast was lacking compared to other hotels in this price range. pool area looked OK, but we didn't have time to use it as this was a quick stop.  convenient to Moreys

I may need therapy after staying at this motel. We booked online ahead of time as we were going to be working in the area. This was one of the only hotels left available and the star rating on hotels.com was 4.5, Tripadvisor was a Good at 3.3, so I thought, okay this should be fine. This was nowhere near that. We arrived to a room that was filled with a musty/smokey/mystery (possibly crack or some other drug you smoke) smell. We traced some of the odor to the drapes, which we removed and placed in the hallway. The AC also had this aroma, so we were not able to run the air. The comforter on my bed had semen stains on it and the two chairs in the room seemed to have been urinated on them. We advised the front desk of our problems, but they were not going to give us our money back. The only option they gave us was a smoking room, which was not going to happen. I do not know who wrote those other reviews, but do not stay at this hotel unless you want to leave with a disease or you yourself like urinating on furniture. Otherwise book anywhere else.

Horrific Experience

Entire motel was filthy, carpets in the hallways and room hadn't been cleaned in a long time and smelled. The bathtub was gross and unusable. The bed was as hard as a rock. Couch was stained with what appeared to be human waste  We have a 8# yorkie is why we chose this dump and we were in Motley for two days for a family funeral. Four other member's of our family also stayed there and had the same unacceptable experience's. We will NEVER go back and anyone considering staying there should stay clear, it's "The Bate's Motel"            Patrick M.

DISGUSTING!!!!

My wife, step-son, and I booked a room to visit my wife's family and pick up kids in Staples. Closest hotel with a pool to Staples, so that was the choice. Pool room was overpowered with chlorine smell. As a volunteer firefighter I was extremely concerned about the level. Hot tub was torn apart with no safety warning. Our room had a burn mark from an iron that wasn't even where it belonged. Ironing board looked like someone had urinated all over it. Iron was in the dresser drawer with another burn mark. Bed was as hard as a rock. Didn't even stay for an hour. Booked a room in Baxter and left. Walked downstairs, handed the guy behind the desk the room key, just said "no" and shook my head, and walked out. The guy never even asked why we were leaving. He just watched us walk out. I will never stay there again. I will go to Baxter or Brainerd.
