We arrived at 5:30 (check in starts at 4:00). Nobody was there. We waited downstairs for 10 minutes. Called them…heard phone ringing. Nothing. We saw the door to our room was wide open so we went ahead & put our stuff in. Nearly 30 minutes later my husband found a man (in bare feet) who said he didn’t have a reservation for us. I had called two days prior to confirm our reservation & ask some questions about the area. Once he located our reservation he said our room wasn’t clean & we would have to wait for 30 minutes. We said we were leaving for an event soon & he could clean it while we were gone. A few minutes later, we realized we weren’t given a key, Wi-Fi info etc. No check in at all. We went looking for him & calling again for several minutes & still nothing. When we came back at 11 pm, he was there, said our room was clean, breakfast was at 9am & he discounted our room. A few minutes later we got a text asking if 9:30 was ok for breakfast. We said sure. Beds were so hard so we barely slept. We went down at 9:25 looking for coffee which had just been put on & wasn’t ready. The keurig didn’t have water. Another couple joined us in the dining room. There was a fruit parfait for us. We waited. And waited. No contact. No “sorry it’s late can I get you more coffee”. Nothing. At 10:20 we had to leave to be somewhere. Still no breakfast. I went in the kitchen & told him we had to leave & could he just charge our room on the card we gave him when we made our reservation. He got very agitated. I just looked at my charge & I don’t think I got the promised discount either. Worst experience ever. The other couple waiting with us for breakfast we’re equally annoyed. Their room was not clean upon their arrival either (though someone was there when they arrived).

Everything was terrible

Not that this adorable B&B needs any more good reviews, but I loved it so much I can't help myself. I was here to celebrate my uncle's birthday with family and didn't want to stay in the chaos. 5 minutes down the road, in the heart of this cute little town, I discovered Rose Heart Inn and it was more than I could have hoped for. For a super reasonable rate (I mean, we are in the middle of nowhere Ohio, after all) I received a beautiful, quant, room with a jacuzzi tub and a delicious breakfast including yogurt and fresh fruit parfait, fresh orange juice, coffee, omelet, sausage, toast, and apple butter that they make on premises. The owner and I chatted towards the end of my meal and he was seriously one of the most fascinating people I've met in a long time. If you ever find yourself in Mt. Gilead, do not hesitate one single second before booking the Rose Heart Inn.

Step back in time at this quaint gem of a B&B

I hardly know where to start!  Well, first, the rating system on here falls short.  We can only rate up to ""5."  I give it a "5 squared."  In other words, 25.  The home was super clean. very quiet and peaceful.  You felt like it was "your home."

    The home is beautifully decorated in early 1900's furnishings but will all the modern conveniences of today you need.  The hardwood floors on the stairs have a beautiful creak to them as you ascend to the upper floor you only get from age.  You can duplicate this on a new home.  

The owners were great.  I couldn't join them for breakfast due to an early morning class that started at 0800 hours but they went out of their way to make sure I had something to eat each morning.  If I ever come back to this area I know where I will be staying!

Beautiful Place

Our little family wanted a getaway, but close to home for a couple nights.  The house was amazing, and Scott was a wonderful host.  Our kids enjoyed the back yard and the breakfasts were extra special and delicious.  The house was decorated beautifully and I was a little worried about having our kids, both under 7, break something, but Scott was very accommodating and treated them like young adults.  It was a great getaway.  Thank you Rose Heart Inn!!

Great Getaway

This place is a precious, hidden gem. My wife and I were on our way home after a ruined vacation and decided to stop for the night, we got a room at this B&B. We hit the jackpot! The house is beautiful, the garden is gorgeous, our room was spectacular. Breakfast was better than anything you'll get at a restaurant, the owners clearly love what they are doing and their care shows. Do yourself a favor and make sure to stop here. We arrived exhausted and in terrible spirits, we left feeling better than ever. Couldn't be more pleased.

Couldn't be better

Stayed here for a weekend with family.  Host were gracious.  Loved the property.  Scott was full of information.  Rooms were quaint and comfortable.  Worth the trip and the stay.  Look outside Mount Gilead as there is not much to do in town.

Relaxing home

Wonderfully cute and quaint! Host are friendly and very accommodating. Bedroom was spacious and comfortable.  Breakfast was delicious! Neighborhood is great for walks and they are in walking distance to restaurants, antique shops, etc.

We go to Ohio at least once a year to visit family and this will become our stay of choice!

Quaint and Cozy B&B!

We stayed at the Rose Heart Inn for the second time and it was great,as it was before. Our room was spotless and so comfortable. The bed and the bedding was great and we slept so well. Breakfast, prepared by Scott was delicious and the china and linens provided an elegant environment. We visit Mt Gilead several times a year to visit family and we will always stay here

Beautiful Inn

We were in town for a weekend event and stayed at Rose Heart. We arrived at the designated check in time. The check in process was very strange, awkward and delayed about 45 minutes. The first thing as we walked in the door was to ask how we were going to pay.... No communication and had to ask for all the details, tour, etc. Breakfast was nothing special and not memorable- scrambled eggs and dry toast.... Pastries were store bought as well. We have stayed in many B&Bs and the food here was underwhelming compared to any others. Room was quiet and clean. Breakfast was delayed for at least 20 minutes every day without explanation. The host was OK but the vibe was very odd overall. Won't stay here again.

Not the best

I came to Mount Gilead to visit family and was looking for a place to stay nearby. Came across the Rose Heart Inn. What a hidden gem! The food each day of my 3 day stay was amazing: french toast with an apple compote, an egg scramble with peppers and onions, and chocolate chip pancakes! The room was very clean and tidy and I was very happy with the fresh smelling sheets. The bed was super comfortable as well. Each morning talking with one of the owners was enjoyable. The weather was warming up and they even installed a window air conditioner on the second day. I also appreciated that there was a tv in the room to enjoy. I also liked that they had access to drinks and snacks, some of which were freshly baked! I only wish I wasn't so full from breakfast to have gotten to try some! The price is very reasonable for everything you get. I highly recommend this place!
