Since 2019 I typically spend 4 nights in the Alliance area for leisure and have routinely used the Sunset Motel for my stay.  The property boasts an indoor pool that is attractive to the motel's guests.  Ownership transferred in 2021 or 22 to a local family who have made steady investments in the rooms, Wi-Fi infrastructure and the recreation areas.  The property does show its age but the staff strives to provide excellent service and the cleanliness of the rooms is very good.  

Each room has a flat screen HDTV and the channel selection includes a variety of premium movie channels.  There are laundry facilities on-site as well as busy little ice making machine. 

If this motel were located in Omaha, Lincoln or even Scottsbluff I would recommend staying at a national chain property.  But this is Alliance Nebraska with a population steadily declining from around 8,000.  Choices here, whether it be dining, shopping or accommodations, are limited.  In this locale, the Sunset Motel (and attached RV Park) provides clean and adequate facilities that are a good value for the money.

Got the room as a made up Valentines day surprise. Front desk was very helpful. The room was gorgeous and very clean.the manager even let me stay later than check out. Pool was very nice. All out experience was amazing definitely will stay again. 

One of the best motels I've been to.

This place is disgusting… I was in the room for 5 min and found yellow stuff on bed, blood on the other bed, mold in the bathroom and shower curtain. Went straight back to the office and told them I wasn’t staying here and it’s disgusting. The girl said I will not get my refund and walked away. Do not go to this motel

Disgusting

I will let the photos do most of the talking. This was a terrible place. Looked like it had been in multiple break-ins over time. It was night, and the outside was decent enough, but the inside was horrible. Stained, sticky carpet, smelly, ink on pillow, dust ruffle torn up, stains and bugs in the tub, and the front door was scary!! The host was nice enough, but he didn't ask us the next morning how our stay was. I think he knew!!

NO WAY!!

This is the worst place to stay in Alliance stay away! Owner is rude doesn't do what he says he is going to do and then threatens to not give money back wont give refunds for cancellations or need to leave early if you have paid up front for week or more. He is rude to customers calls them names and threatens to call police on them. He is not very nice to his staff, rooms are terrible not very clean, run down hotel, gaps in the doors and bugs come through the door gaps! Pool is not clean, internet hardly worked and neither did the TV. I have travel all over the country and this is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in!!

WORST PLACE TO STAY!!!!!!

I was planning to arrive around midnight and booked via Expedia, but made sure to call the property directly to confirm this would be OK. Woman answering the phone assured me this would be fine.

Upon arrival, woman at front desk (I believe the same one I'd spoken with earlier?) claims there is no reservation in the system for me and they're sold out. Given Alliance is a tiny town 100 miles from any interstate or other real lodging options, I'm exasperated and press her on this. She changed her excuse at least twice, from "no reservation under your name" to "no reservations in the system at all" to "actually, our systems were down all day today." During this exchange, she had a sort of casual tone -- like this conversation might well be standard fare for her -- that put me off almost as much as the prospect of sleeping in my car. (For the record, I was able to find a vacancy further west on the main drag at the "Rainbow Motel," which I'd recommend as another no-frills budget alternative).

I have little doubt that they simply sold rooms to customers who arrived in-person until they were gone, ignoring third-party bookings already in the queue. A one-time fluke and genuine mix-up? Possible, but given this is about the last place you want to be hunting for alternate options upon late arrival, I would AVOID THIRD-PARTY BOOKING -- and probably start your search elsewhere, if this is representative of their business practice in general.

The hotel is in very bad need of a total remake.  The carpets and furniture are old and beat up.  The air conditioning could barely keep the room comfortable, the curtains were torn, the fridge could not keep things cold, there was no ice machine, and you could hear the kids in the pool yelling through the thin walls until the pool finally closed.

Run Down, Beat Up Motel

I booked this place ahead of time based on the pictures. When I showed up, the pool was covered. cracks in the walls. Place looked like something you would rent by the hour. I tried to get a refund upon check-in and was denied. I almost just said screw it and went to the nice hotels down the road but decided to check it out. Inside the room, it was actually pretty nice. Flat screen TV and bed seemed clean. BUT the place was FULL OF FLIES and you couldn't get rid of them because if the 1/2 gap in the door. The shower was very very small.  They need to do something about the flies. Spend the extra money and stay somewhere else. This place was 90 dollars and worth about 45. NOT WORTH IT!!!

Worst place I've stayed all week

The manager gave me a room that was already occupied, then had to move me to another room the pool was covered and unusable. The room itself was clean with the exception of the long black hairs in the bedding.

Senior stylist

Comfy beds, friendly staff, clean. Nice pool. There isn’t much parking, and the office door slams all night if you are near it. Had an issue at check-in about double rooms having only one bed. Maybe call and ask, online reservation was misleading. Issue was handled as best as possible w/ roll away cots. Not great but wasn’t other options. We would come back.
