The new owners have been renovating the rooms.  A work in progress.  They only have 20 rooms.  The room we stayed in is not completely finished being renovated.  The shower is very nice.  The bed was comfortable and the price is cheap.  $68 for a king size bed.  Owners very helpful.  When they are done it will be nice.

I truly enjoyed my stay at the Derrick Inn. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable- everything you need. The manager, Srini, was incredibly kind and helpful. I stayed while on a bike trip from LA to NYC. A couple days after leaving Ness City I realized I had left my favorite hat at the hotel. Srini went out of his way to help me by mailing it back to my home in Minneapolis. I am incredibly grateful that I stayed at the Derrick Inn. I highly recommend!

Above and Beyond

This is one of the strangest , creepiest motels I’ve ever stayed in, beginning with the extremely humid interior atrium between the two floors of rooms. The pool and the hot tub in the atrium were closed. The laundry facilities did not work. The room was outdated. The toilet wasn’t secured properly to the floor. A microwave in the room did not work. The room smelled. The bedding looked so questionable that I slept in a sleeping bag. The motel seems to be a ghost of its better days, and it appeared there were only four guests (two couples, including us) lodging for the night. Yuck.

Creepy

This could be the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. I’m a frequent customer of cheaper hotels. I have come to not expect much. But this is setting a new low. The place needs a Clorox bath. I don’t want to touch anything—every piece of furniture has a stain. And as a business traveler, all I really need from you is WiFi. Don’t advertise that you have WiFi if you don’t. And you don’t.  The only reason I can think of that anyone would stay here is because there are literally no other options. Paid $45, which was about $43 too much.

Why do people stay here? Because there is nowhere else.

Everything in the hotel is original to the hotel, the towels, the sheets, the bedspreads. The owners are trying to remodel the bathrooms but it looks like from the reviews they have been doing that for a couple years. Currently, everything is completely in a state of disarray. Nothing is finished, wood trim is off, tiles not finished, floorings not finished. We looked forward to a crummy motel that was cheap with a pool. The pool had been mostly drained, not completely. Totally gross! And, completely disappointed. I walked across the street to get a cup of coffee from the gas station in the morning. Wouldn't recommend it. But if you anticipate a cheap room and understand the towels and sheets may be clean they're just really really old ...it's the only place in town.

Everything's Original 

At one time (the early '80s I'm guessing), it's clear from walking in the door that this was a roughneck's party palace...rooms all opening on a large indoor atrium with a nice swimming pool, a bar with poolside tables and a restaurant on site.  It's also clear that those heady days are many, many years in the past. The only thing that remains is the pool, a few odd tables and a pleasant family running the place. My room was acceptably clean but materially in pretty rough shape though the TV and air conditioner worked.

The most interesting terrible motel I've stayed in

We went on a 22 state vacation this fall and this little motel was by far one of our favorites. The rooms were clean and spacious. The young couple who owns the motel were very friendly. They are working very hard at restoring this little gem.

Amazing owners

This appears to be the only motel in town.  The interior with the pool and spa looks fantastic for a budget hotel.  Our room had a king size bed and was clean and comfortable.  We loved how spacious the room was.  The desk isn't manned but the lady who answered the phone was prompt and efficient.  If you want new and shiny this isn't the place for you but if you want a good nights sleep and a refreshing swim go for it!
