This place is convenient for location but very bare bones. It’s neither a resort nor a condo. Ours had a kitchen, but the stuff was barely usable so we had to shop at a local store for a decent knife, spatula etc in order to grill out. Nothing that you usually get in a condo, like paper towels, little shampoos,  or salt. The dish soap was so watered down it could barely be called soap.  You’ll have to bring all your stuff from home if you plan to use the kitchen or BBQ. 

The rooms were very outdated and a little shabby. The couch was not comfortable enough for someone to sleep on. There is no hair dryer so again, bring from home. The beds are decent and the balcony is nice with a view over the river. 

The parking is not exclusive to your unit, so just because there is parking in front of your unit doesn’t mean you’ll get that spot. You may have to park across the property, and there’s no sidewalks so beware if you have elderly, small children, sick people etc.

Convenient location, below average units

Our accommodations were marvelous and beautifully located on a bend in the Comal River.  The tubing was delightful for all fourteen , ages 8 to 77.  Schlitterbahn was a hit for both adults and children!  The staff are so helpful!  The housekeeper even found my wallet and returned it!

Superb place to stay

We were looking for someplace to get away for a few days.  This was an excellent choice.  We had our two teenagers with us and we all had a great time.   The resort was clean, in a great location and run by some great people!

The resort sits on a peninsula and the Comal River run along it.  You can get in the river on one side of the resort and then float to the other side of the resort and get out.  It's super easy and fun!

Some details:  
*We were with our two teenagers.  We rented a one bedroom - which has 2 double beds.  We opted to bring our own cot because the teens do not like to share a bed! *The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, glasses, etc. and they provide dish soap and dish washer soap.  The kitchen has an apartment-sized refrigerator and the freezer had one ice try and an ice bin. 
*The bathroom is basic - you will need to bring your own hair dryer and toiletries  (they provide a bar of soap and a bottle of shampoo).
*If you're a light sleeper and turn in before 11pm, bring earplugs.  The common area (which is great) was occupied with fun families until at least 11pm and it was a bit noisy when trying to get to sleep.  
*Bring your own beach towels for the river.  Also - you can pay $5/person to take a van to the start of the Comal and then float back to the resort.  This is a must do! So fun!!

This was a very relaxing visit and we plan to return!!

Excellent Family Getaway!!

This resort is on the beautiful Comal River!! The owners and staff are so nice and the suites are clean and nice! They provide everything from pots and pans to a full size oven!!! I will definitely stay here again! The price is fair and every suite has a view of the beautiful Comal River!!!

Beautiful Place!!!

You can't beat the location of The Other Place if you come to New Braunfels to swim/tube the Comal River.  Friendly staff, clean room, comfortable beds.  Walking distance to the historic downtown.  Kids will love seeing the deer that live the area.  Highly recommend staying here.

Best Location on the Comal River

The Other Place Resort is a wonderful, rustic hideaway in the middle of New Braunfels. It is the perfect place to relax. This is not the place to stay connected - the wifi is spotty at best - but it is the perfect place to stay unconnected: relax on the porch and watch the river, play horseshoes in the picnic area, float the river again and again in the horseshoe bend around the property. The cabins have been updated, but the personality of the place has been unchanged for decades. It is very much a self service kind of place, but the staff is friendly and helpful. Perfect.

Get away from it all!

I have just returned from a short trip in New Braunfels. We had the pleasure of staying at The Other Place. The Other Place is located right by the Comel River. It is clean and well maintained. I enjoyed sitting on the deck right by the river. The view was completed by a family of deer which would come right up to the room.

Wonderful Spot

Perhaps I love this place because of my history here. First time when I was a kid, then with my children. I was here when TV's were first installed- it was controversy at the time. Yes, it's pretty primitive- described by my wife about being 1 step above camping. But, it's a place to make memories and actually talk with family and strangers. People are very friendly. It's great place for reunions or group events. People meet at the center "island" for talking, grilling and hanging out. 
Owners are present. Staff has been here for years. Customer service is better than what you will find anywhere. 
I hope that this resort, that has been around since the early 1900's, is still around for my kids kids (now 17 and 19). 
Give it a try and make your own memories.

Love this other place

We come to New Braunfels every summer and stay at TOP for a family vacation. Great Location, Super friendly staff, Nice place to stay! Walk to the Comal from the front door of your  ‘Home Away from Home’, Feed the many Deer who reside within the complex daily, they’re everywhere!! You can walk to Schlitterbahn within minutes, Float all day, BBQ or just relax. While their rental homes could use some updates, everything else they have to offer here will keep you busy enough for it not to matter too much IMO. 


Annual Family Vacation 

Rented three duplexes for 2 nights for my family to enjoy, the rude crowd below kept us from getting zero sleep, quiet hours are not enforced, beer was stolen! 1 duplex had no hot water & the ac was broke!
