Stayed for 2 nights on a weekend.  First of all let me say that you can usually get a room here for substantially less than the other hotels in the area.  Check in and out were smooth.  The room was clean and in good condition.  The staff was courteous and friendly.  There is a free shuttle to the casino and  parking was good.  The breakfast area is small and breakfast selections are pretty limited.  They have very good shower heads and water pressure and plenty of hot water.  Some more expensive hotels fail in this category.  I really couldn’t find any major negatives with this hotel and it is definitely a great value.  I checked the WiFi speed and it was 50mbs which is very good.  So if you want a great place to stay and aren’t looking for a lot of fancy extras I would highly recommend this hotel.  

A great value 

This hotel used to be a Comfort Inn.  It was changed this past year (still Choice Hotel). 
Reserved room was given away, even though I showed confirmation.  Hotel quality has gone downhill. Finding another.

No longer Quality

We've used this hotel for a weekend casino getaway for years, but have noticed a definite decline since it changed from Comfort Inn to Quality Inn.  

Last year, we noticed they replaced all the very comfortable furniture in the lobby (where our group enjoyed gathering) with basic, dormitory furniture.  When we commented on it last year, we were told it was only temporary while they refurbished the lobby.  It that's the case, it must be the longest refurb in history.

Historically, to make it easier for our group, one person has always made the reservations for the group, and upon arrival, everyone changes the room to their own name and their own loyalty number.  That was not the case this year.  Upon arrival, the check-in assistant appeared to be unable to do either.  So we all remained anonymous for the weekend, while our booker reaped the benefits of our points.  (and good for him!)

However, also upon arrival, we were told that the original reservation (which included one accessible room) had been cancelled but was then rebooked - without the request of an accessible room.  That was not true, but the aforementioned assistant would not provide any documentation of the change, despite us having our original confirmation document.  So - no accessible room was available.  

Housekeeping came in on the first morning and removed all my used toiletry bottles and soap, but did not replace them for the second night.  We also left the empty tissue box on the bathroom counter. - out of its holder to ease the transition - and came back to the room to find . . . . the empty tissue box with no replacement.  It was all just sloppy.

The shower in my room was abysmal.  Very little power, and very high.  Being short, high showers just increase the length of time spent in the shower as it takes longer for the water to reach all the places it needs to reach!  The bathtub floor was also dangerously slick.

And although you are enticed into the breakfast room with pictures of golden waffles, the waffle iron (which was great) was replaced with the slowest pancake maker. Taking 7 minutes to make two 3 inch pancakes is way to slow for a crowded breakfast room.

On a positive note, the bed in my room was really comfortable, and I slept well.

The price reflects the lower quality, so if that's important to you, this might be the place for you.  It's no longer the place for us.

Disappointing

I had a confirmed reservation at this hotel on October 11, 2019. I arrived at 10pm and was told that my room had been given to someone else because my credit card had been declined at 5pm. I requested that the clerk run my card so I could prove that she was in error. She refused. I offered to show her a printed confirmation. She refused. I asked her why she would run my card five hours before I arrived. She said the manager did it and sent me an email at 5pm that I did not respond to. I tried to explain that I was traveling at the time and had no way to receive or respond to the message. I asked why they did not call me? She said I could complain to the manager in the morning, but my room was gone and there was nothing she could do. I was forced to find another hotel, where I used the same credit card and it worked just fine. I attempted to complain to Choice Hotels via there customer service dept. I was offered 3000 bonus points which is nowhere near enough for a free night which I thought I was entitled to after being treated so poorly by their staff. Once again I was told there is nothing they can do.

The rooms are small, but the beds are very comfortable.
The pool is VERY SMALL, but it's clean, and the hot tub is lovely.
The breakfast area is small, but the selections are more than decent (bagels, cereals, yogurt, make-your-own waffles, hard-boiled eggs, scrambled egg patties, sausage, juice, coffee). 24-hour coffee in the lobby, which is a nice plus.

Overall a perfectly fine place to stay, just a couple minutes from downtown New Buffalo and 10 minutes from Three Oaks. Staff was very friendly, rooms could use to be updated but were sufficiently clean and everything worked well. The walls, however, are VERY THIN, and when people in surrounding rooms came home around ~2 am and were drunkenly slamming their doors, we definitely woke up. Due to a huge wedding in the area and the Harvest Wine fest this weekend, I overpaid a bit, even with a coupon code, for what I feel like this hotel is worth, but hey, that's supply and demand. 

SO. As a head's up to the hotel, a few of us were at the hot tub late-ish one night, and it appears one of the housekeepers (?) was off-duty and had a very young teen couple (14? 15?) and a younger kid with her who were playing in the pool. That's fine, but it the young teens had snuck in booze, and the adult (??) was also drinking beer from a glass bottle (next to the pool...) and when it was time to pack up, the young teen couple ended up together in the single-occupancy bathroom next to the pool for some number of minutes. Like, y'all, I cannot even.

Perfectly Adequate, 3.5 Stars

Our one-night stay was very nice.  Room even had a view into trees.the bed and the breakfast were both good too.  Excellent value!  We then joined the hotel group's  club to save on future stays and will use them again.  In fact we booked the next 2 nights at a different town but same inns

Very nice 

We found the Quality Inn to be a wonderful hotel at a fantastic price.  The rooms were clean and neat, and everything was well cared for. The staff was excellent, Tiffany was especially helpful and friendly, we really appreciated her dinner recommendations.  We were not able to enjoy the pool or hot tub, but thoroughly appreciated and enjoyed the morning breakfast. We felt this hotel was a wonderful value with a beautiful wooded setting.

Great Value

Great place to stay in Harbor Country and good value for the money during the busy SW Michigan summer season.  Rooms are very nice, service is solid.  Pool is smaller but a convenient amenity for the kiddos.  Nice to have a hot tub for the parents too

Quality stay for the $$

We had the room right off the lobby. So quiet! We are doing a road trip and we seriously fell asleep at 9 and woke at 7. Comfortable bed! Great big room! Super nice. Good breakfast! Pool was a comfortable temperature and the hot tub was great! 
Coffee in lobby 24/7. Nice! 

Impressed! 

We went to Awe 38 Special at Four Winds this place was so clean and neat I highly recommended this place was very inexpensive for the time we went, so check the rates before you go! We stayed here cause Four Winds was cold out and very expensive,  plus when we're leaving my husband dropped his tablet we didn't know it called up there and someone actually turned it in. Hubby went to get the tablet later on that day, so thank you for whom ever turned it in and the Hotel for keeping it for us!
