We celebrated my father’s 90th birthday at the Beale House. Food, service and setting were all fabulous.  Could not have been a more delightful experience! There were 17 of us and they made us feel so welcome! We gathered in a separate function room, which was lovely and easily able to accommodate us. They arranged a limited menu for us so people had choices—and they printed up the menu and had one at each place setting, with Happy Birthday written on top. Highly recommend!!

Fabulous food and excellent service for a 90th birthday party!

So it’s an old Inn, however you’d think they upgraded some things since it was built. Had a terrible sleep. The mattress is worn out, feels like you’re in a waterbed with too little water. It sinks down in the middle and you’re constantly trying to get to the edge so you don’t drown.  My back is killing me now. So thinking I have a hot shower as it’s listed as an amenity as well, it’s Luke warm at best and takes quite a while to get there. Fire detectors are disconnected too
Very Disappointed!

Still in the 1880’s

We made the mistake of booking the Blue Room one busy fall weekend. The bedroom itself was small but serviceable, but the bathroom was the shabbiest thing I've ever paid money to experience. (We had two nights booked, but considered just driving home after arriving so we didn't have to shower there.) I'm not an expert in home improvement, but I think they could make things much better with a bit of elbow grease and a couple of hundred dollars. Also: would make the stay more pleasant if they were to put the wifi password in the room or share that with guests. On the plus side, the restaurant looked very nice and it was easily walkable to downtown, Schilling, etc.

Not "shabby chic," just shabby

First off no breakfast, water, coffee or tea. No refrigerators or coffee kerig in room. You are on your own - we were there two nights and only two towels- no housekeeping - nothing.  Only a tiny trash pile that was full. This is just a bed to stay in. No one to ask any questions or if you have concerns. The owners are more focused on their restaurant that is attached. This could have been so lovey if they put a couple of bottles of water in room and set up coffee/tea with at least muffins/fruit in common area in the am. All the rooms were booked so both nothing would have been wasted - heard others complaining too.  This is a beautiful old inn so treat  the experience as such. We wouldn’t stay here again - fyi the price is not cheap by any means so beware.

Disappointed

Will never return beautiful property but…..your not anything more then a visitor no welcome no one around to answer questions the fuse blew in our room no one was there to help no phone number to call you have to park a half block up so you need to walk down to get in so you just can’t step out to get a coffee there is a whole room where there could be a coffee pot and tea or even a  kurig there’s nothing so if you bring something in you have to drag it in for multiple people no water in rooms no water bottles no refrigerator to store anything ridiculous the owners clearly have no vested interest in their visitors and housekeeping leaves a envelope for a tip but they never come in be careful in bath tub it’s beautiful but no mat and it’s slippery there are lots of choices up there so beware the pictures you see are not real go somewhere else unless you prefer indifference

Very disappointed

    The Beal House is an OK place to stay but not a B&B, just an old hotel. We had the Mrs Beals Suite, the room was very large, clean and all had the charm you'd expect from an 1800's house. Check-in was odd. I had to make a couple trips with my luggage, what made it weird is that theres no real front door. I had to keep going through a large group's private dinner party in the dinning room, super awkward.
   As for food: We had dessert and coffee at the restaurant. It was very good. Breakfast on the other hand.... a little sign in the room said breakfast is muffins in the lobby. The sign in the lobby said there would be no breakfast and listed a couple places to go. That would have been fine, they could have sold me on supporting local small businesses. However, they tried to justify it by saying people wasted too much food and it was too expensive...I paid a lot of money to stay there, don't tell me it wasn't enough. They did have an airpot of semi-hot coffee in the self-serve area, so there's the that. We talked into to town and had a very good local breakfast.

It was fine....

I would not go back since the welcome was not at all what you would expect as a welcome. THe servive was OK but not top-notch. If you want a higher level restaurant, one is expected to have much better welcome and service. Do not expect support from the staff since they do not really care about you. Very dissapointing... Would not go back cause it was costly but not worth the expense...

OK but no cigar...

While skiing in the White Mountains we came upon this little gem in Littleton, NH. Beal House is an Inn and Restaurant owned by a lovely young couple. He is the Chef and she is out front making sure all is going as it should. We went for Valentines Day and it did not disappoint. Rustic, inviting. The food was amazing, the wait staff very enjoyable and the atmosphere was cozy. 
They even make their own salted caramels for an after dinner candy. YUM!
We will definitely be back next year!

A gem

Stayed in the Garden room - 2 bedrooms with an adjoining bathroom.  Great set up for a family or 2 couples travelling together.  Rooms were large with comfortable beds.  Back bedroom had a Jacuzzi tub.  Shower was in the back bedroom also.  Wish we had more time to eat in the tavern!  Menu looked delicious.  Adam was a wonderful host.  Walk to all the shops and restaurants in downtown Littleton.

Comfortable Inn

This is a delightful Inn with a very good restaurant in it. I have lived in NYC and so my standard to call food good is high. The suite my husband and daughter stayed in had plenty of room and was charming and comfortable.My husband and daughter went up to NH to ski over a long weekend, but the first evening they hoped to be there the place they were staying had no vacancy. I decided to book them at this Inn because it looked like it might be good and Littleton is a charming little town. Thye had a wonderful time, were very pleased with the food and suite. I am sure we'll go back again. You should give it a try too!
