Mom and pop kind of old and outdated property. Rooms neely painted and flooring is new . Rooms are costly for new paint and new flooring. It's always better to pay 20$ more and stay are entire new hotels on town. Customer service are worst at the top of worst.

Stay at your own risk. This place management are horrible . They speak some language which is impossible for me to understand. It scare me when I try to ask discount . They acted like I am worst customer and I don't need to come back and stay at this place if I ever ask discount .

This place is not budget inn . They should say not budget inn . They are ripping off customer on name of budget inn. I paid more than 80 plus taxes and I should have drive to next town and stayed for same price in ant big brand name. Look for pictures it's 1980s hotel and still charging 80 plus what a way to rob customers 

Ready to pay 80 plus for 1980s old hotel 

Artesia NM is convenient to the Carlsbad Caverns National Park and on the mail road that we needed to be on to get to Fort Worth TX when we were ready to continue our trek. The listing in Hotels. com had breakfast for two adults listed and that was the deciding factor between two properties we ere looking at. When we arrived for check in I had to talk to the desk clerk through a tiny window. The lobby was not open to the public. Hospitality apparently os not high on the list of important things to the family that manages this property. When I asked about breakfast I was informed that they no longer serve breakfast, when I explained That my reservation said it included breakfast they said that they could not get the listing modified through Hotels.com. The room was nice, clean and plenty big enough. The bath had just recently been renovated and very modern.  MY biggest issue was with the way the people that managed the property interacted with the public, they acted as if they were afraid o people. Sunday morning I went ot the window to let them know of a safety issue and to tell the cleaning crew to not do our room. I rand the door bell several times and I saw movement, The person I saw gave me the  1 moment signal, I patiently waited and had to ring the door bell again to get someone to respond. when we came back the safety issue was fixed but they had done our room, Overall I got the impression that most of their guests were long term oil or construction workers.

No Breakfast though still on reservation

This property is old with small parking unsafe and scary at all time. Rooms claimed to be remodeled is just look like new paint tv that's it. Rooms are small next door room doing party with other other guests. This property is just good to skip from r safety and peaceful stay

Unsafe parking lot 

This place is build for workers . Rooms are updated . Customer service are so mean reminds slavery is not over in USA. Manager feels like guest need to pay money for room and he should not expect smile or courtesy or morning coffee or late check out or he should not come up with any request. Nothing is free at this place not even welcome smile.

Poorest customer service

I was skeptical to stay here based on the previous reviews but most of them are old so I took a chance and it paid off! Very clean and modern for the cheapest price in town. The bed sheets were clean and soft. The bathroom was better than the one I have at home. The light switches have usb built in so if u forget ur cube u don’t have to buy one. The kitchenette was to be expected but having a freezer was nice. Don’t allow pets tho. 

This place is the best for the price. 

Late night, last minute call to this hotel to reserve a room for the night.  We get there after making reservations and checking in.  The parking lot is congested with customer and oil-field workers vehicles along with what looks to be remodeling items.  The room we got, at first looked ok.  The bed linens looked new.  The AC unit was not running and that was because it was not plugged in.  Plugged the AC unit in and it does try to cool, but on a very low speed.  The room looks like it is being remodeled, but there is a lot of dust on everything.  The bathroom was grey from the dust.  There was a full size refrigerator that was on and there was a microwave.  We decided to move on to Carlsbad, NM for the night and I went to the front desk to get our money back.  The lady was not friendly at all - basically said they were not a 5 star hotel and I said I knew that from the ratings that I seen online and knew we were going to get a cheap room, not a room that was still in remodeling stages.  The cost of the room was about $119.00.  We got our money back and they are getting this 1 star review since I can't give anything below that.  Do not stay here!

Room should not have been available for rent

Infested with BEDBUG!!!!!!!! My husband was staying here for over a month and just discovered a bedbug. He immediately moved out and when confronting the manager tried to tell my husband he brought that in (we have never had bed bugs. EVER) refused to give us our money back!!!!! Please PLEASE do not stay here!!!!!!

BEDBUG INFESTED HOTEL!!!!

To begin, just know that I never before have given a bad review.  I always consider the circumstances and make allowances for the price I paid.  With that said....I checked in after hours @ 10:30pm.  The owner (I assume) charged my card an extra $18 above the charges I paid on the website I booked it through (I was too tired from 11 hours of driving to question it), gave me the key cards and failed to give me the WiFi information, so I had to call the office once we were in the room.  Anyway, there was no parking anywhere near my room. I had to leave all of our luggage at our room door so I could look for parking.  I drove around a few times and when I did find a spot, it was all the way on the other end of the building hidden between two huge trucks.  I felt uncomfortable that I couldn't see my vehicle from the hallway outside my room.  Anyway, while walking back to my room there was an overwhelming smell of gasoline, I think coming from one of the many work trucks that occupied most of the parking spaces.  And even worse, I was startled by a couple of roaches scurrying in front of me across the walkway (ewww).  The building was in disrepair with holes in the walls and broken stucco.  There were several old beat up bbqs and piles of debris scattered throughout the property and the outdoor trash cans were overflowing, very filthy.  One good thing.... the coke and ice machines work!  And all the work trucks were gone by the time I woke up at 8am!  YAY!  I was able to move to the space in front of our room and we happily loaded our luggage at our leisure.  Breakfast was cereal, milk, coffee, muffins and packaged honey buns; typical continental.
Our room.... The wiring of the fan in the bathroom was exposed and it didn't work and the carpet and a couple of the sofas were stained. But in all honesty, I was surprised that the room was cleaner than I expected after seeing the condition of the outside. 
The bed linens were clean, beds comfy, TV, refrigerator, WiFi, air conditioning, lights and single serve coffee maker worked. (I only had trouble falling asleep because I was afraid that the critters I met outside might make it into my room). They supplied toiletries and coffee stuff but no bathroom linens.  I went to the front desk when I woke up in the morning to ask for them, he came back with 2 towels, I reminded him I had "nothing".... he scoffed and walked out the door to the housekeeping closet outside to fetch me what any paying guest should expect to have supplied in their room.  I got my linens but could have done without the tude!  :-P
I have stayed in a lot of hotels/motels during my vacation travels and have only once before encountered a place where I felt so uncomfortable with my surroundings.  The time before this, we inadvertently booked a hotel in the "tenderloin district" across from the ports of San Francisco (baaad!) but it was a real bargain!
I think I would be more understanding if I only paid half a hundy for this room as I did in Frisco, but with the $18 (cleaning fee?) on top of what I paid through the website; I ended up paying a hundy plus 2.  My complaint is that I paid more to stay in this place than I did for all the other hotels during this trip; Not only were they cheaper, nicer, cleaner and better taken care of; the office staff was friendlier and more professional.  I am amazed, knowing the substandard conditions they are offering their guests that they would have the audacity to charge an extra $18 cleaning fee on top of their already overpriced rates!  I can assume that they are probably in the middle of renovating, but in its present condition, I would recommend that they at least make an extra effort to clean up the mess outside, empty the trashcans, and above all, until they finish fixing this place up, they should lower their rates to give their guests a fair shake.
