I had a family emergency and had to leave for home without returning to the Inn. I called them and asked if they could hold my bag and it may be close to a year before I returned. I was willing to pay them to ship and told them I would be returning. I called them to assure they would hold it and a year later they told me they had thrown away my suit case and everything in it. Many very expensive items in the case. Included with the case was my tag containing my business card with contact info. I know a year is a long time and that's why I told them it would be a while before I return. I travel in my business and return to CT annually.
They would not have thrown away anything that was left behind.
The courtesy of a phone call would have been very easy.

A low class Inn

You can park your car near your room.  Not directly at the door, but not much farther.  The room was exceptional.  There was a huge picture window that looked out on the Housatonic River with motorized closure of the curtains, a pleasant surprise!  The bathroom had 2 beautiful sinks, a combo shower and tub and a toilet with a door for privacy.  The beds were very comfortable but a little too high for us as we are elderly.  The room also had a refrigerator with small freezer inside, a microwave and a Kuerig coffee maker.  The rooms appeared to be recently renovated or newer construction.  We experienced no complaints with the accommodations except if there was a hot tub somewhere, we were not aware of it, but would have enjoyed that as an added plus! Cannot think of any disappointments in our accommodations.  My husband just mentioned that the floors were not carpeted.  They had wood- like planks that I am sure are easier to keep clean, no complaints from me!  Overall, I would not hesitate to stay there again if we return to the area.

A pleasant surprise!

If I were able to leave a zero star review I would. Customer service given by this family owned business was anything but stellar. I was unable to fly into to CT, due to Bradley Intl airport cancelling all in bound and out bound flights because of imminent weather. I was only staying one night to attend a funeral the next morning. When I called to let them know I was not able to fly from FL to CT, they had zero care or offered any empathy. When I asked for consideration of our circumstance, I was told I could make a social media post or tik tok bashing their business. I just couldn’t believe that a “family owned” business could be that impersonal and that their verbiage was so insincere or non understanding. A compromise could have been made or at least I could have been shown some human compassion. I guess that service must have not been included in the room fee.

It was right by the river. I felt a bit insecure because of the ghetto look to it but overall I was impressed because I judged the book by its cover. I slept very well and it was overall a very good nights sleep

We stayed on the first floor of the newer building that is most distant from the motel office. Walls were so thin, we heard our next-door neighbors’ every word and flush of the toilet. Their loud after-midnight conversation woke us. Otherwise the room was good, but we won’t return.

I have stayed at the Rocky River in/motel on a number of occasions in all rooms have been clean.  During my last stay, there were some issues, the curtains were torn and tattered, furniture was gaudy and dated.  There was a need for a cell phone port./Station
The towels could only be considered adequate
as a suggestion, perhaps they could put some pictures/artwork on the walls

Clean but needs attention

We searched and searched for a hotel in western Connecticut. They were either very expensive or had poor reviews. Finally, we found The Rocky River Inn while doing a Google Maps search.  It was just right for us.  We stayed in room 32 in the new building.  The bathroom is marble with a jacuzzi tub.  (Be aware that the water that fills the tub comes directly down from the ceiling. This can be quite a surprise.)  There are his and hers vanities with plenty of light for applying make-up.
Sleep quality…very quiet + room darkening + super comfortable bed = A+++ night’s sleep 
The Rocky River is directly behind the hotel. Peaceful.

Peaceful Night on the Rocky River

If I could, I would give this motel 2 1/2 stars. This is not an Inn. It is a motel. I had a clean updated room. Comfortable bed and nice bed linens. It was minimum in terms of what's in the room otherwise. No tissues and towels were small and worn. Walls were thin. I could hear people in next room conversing as well as flushing from room above. 

It is fine for one night if you are looking for a pretty basic room.

What a nice surprise!  When I first saw 2 stars, I was leary about what we would find. This motel is very charming and clean.  The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! Our family leaves nearby so we will be back for sure!

Best surprise ever!

Stayed at the Rocky River Inn for 2 nights. Room was clearly dated, which would have been easy to look past if it were clean. I’m honestly not sure if the room was cleaned beyond making the bed. 

Our trashcan in the bathroom had what was clearly cooked rice in it. The bathroom sink backed up and did not drain properly while the water was running and the border wallpaper above the shower was peeling. Our room had 2 bath towels, which would have been sufficient had they not been child-sized. 

The room had a kitchenette for long stay guests. The stovetop burners were lined with tinfoil that had not been replaced after the last guest had cooked - it was evident by the burnt food stuck to it. The walls around the stove were covered in burn marks. 

The fitted sheet on our bed did not fit properly and constantly came off throughout the night. Pillows were thin and in clear need of being replaced. 

An attention to detail and cleanliness is clearly lacking!
