Me and a friend stayed for a night and it was a delightful stay. 5e woman on reception was so welcoming and friendly. She got us checked in quickly and got someone to help us with the bags up the very steep wooden stairs but it was all an experiment. The room had high ceilings and a huge four poster bed. The bathroom had a shower and a huge hot tub and was very clean. The balcony was nice to sit outside and watch the world go by. It was a 2 minute walk to bourbon street and a few minutes walk to shops and restaurants. Great location! Also not a far walk to the big mall but a taxi wasn’t expensive.

Gorgeous hotel and great location

We visited in May 2019, the third stop of our US/Engagement Holiday. Hotel Royal is as New Orleans as it gets. A beautiful building with a lot of character and many staircases (we had lots of giggles when we would get lost). The location was great and the room was beautiful and clean. The staff were wonderful, especially Eric who we had a great chat with and helped us with everything we needed. Such wonderful memories of New Orleans! Hopefully, we will see you all again!

Highlight of Our Stay in the Quarter

This was our first time to New Orleans and we fell in love with this boutique hotel.  It's such a great location - restaurants/shopping and Jackson Square all just a short walk away.  Staff was friendly and accommodations were top notch.  We spent mornings and evenings on the balcony listing to the sounds of the city and even saw a couple of wedding parades.  We will be back! 

Location, location, location!

The Staff members made our stay extraordinary special.  They were helpful in every way possible.  I can not say enough about how amazing every member of the staff was during our stay.  We will definitely be returning for another stay at this property.

Excellent Staff!

My husband and I stayed here for three days during Mardi Gras, and we have resolved to return next year! The hotel accommodations are basic but comfortable, and scrupulously clean.  The staff are fantastic! They took wonderful care of us, especially Eric, who arranged special transportation for us, since my husband has mobility issues, and Sean, who heroically helped us traverse several blocks of crowded streets to get to our airport taxi! They could not have been nicer or more helpful! We will recommend this hotel to all our friends travelling to New Orleans. 

A delightful base of operations for Mardi Gras

The hotel is beautiful. It’s in walking distance of some amazing food options. The room was clean and cozy. My husband’s only complaint was that the shower was small but even he said we should come back here. Overall the hotel is cute, quite, and a great place to stay.

Cute historic hotel

Very good location in the French Quarter. Eric the door man couldn’t have been more helpful. Room was relatively quiet considering the hotel is just a block off Bourbon Street   Close  to all amenities.   Will come back 

Good experience

I always wanted to stay in this hotel because of the tv series the originals! I also love the courtyard. The room was small, but did it’s job since we were there much. Bed was comfortable but charging phones was difficult because no direct outlet by beds and outlet on floor was loose. Room phone did not work and had to walk to the lobby every day for extra towels. Would have upgraded room if we knew the room would have no windows.

Birthday Get Away

I love to immerse myself in the culture of any area I visit, so our accommodations at Hotel Royal was perfect for a stay in the French Quarter. I’d read other reviews about the property being “tired” or needing maintenance, but it was exactly what I expected for a historic 1800s building. Tons of character, very clean, and perfect location within walking distance of just about everything we wanted to do. Our room, R14, was very spacious and had a balcony...we loved waking up each morning to the sounds of horses and carriages walking by. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly (thank you Alexis with your help in checking us in). If you want a fancy, modern hotel, this isn’t the place for you. But if you want an authentic experience with a tremendous value, don’t hesitate to book a stay at Hotel Royal!

Authentic experience in the Quarter

we stayed for 2 nights ,had a delightful stay experiencing new things, view and meals. the staff were great with their calm smile that made us feel valued. the service was not quick but not late also, my room was nice with a comfy bed.
