we stayed for 2 nights ,had a delightful stay experiencing new things, view and meals. the staff were great with their calm smile that made us feel valued. the service was not quick but not late also, my room was nice with a comfy bed.

Nice Hotel for good stay and relaxation

Me and a friend stayed for a night and it was a delightful stay. 5e woman on reception was so welcoming and friendly. She got us checked in quickly and got someone to help us with the bags up the very steep wooden stairs but it was all an experiment. The room had high ceilings and a huge four poster bed. The bathroom had a shower and a huge hot tub and was very clean. The balcony was nice to sit outside and watch the world go by. It was a 2 minute walk to bourbon street and a few minutes walk to shops and restaurants. Great location! Also not a far walk to the big mall but a taxi wasn’t expensive.

Gorgeous hotel and great location

We visited in May 2019, the third stop of our US/Engagement Holiday. Hotel Royal is as New Orleans as it gets. A beautiful building with a lot of character and many staircases (we had lots of giggles when we would get lost). The location was great and the room was beautiful and clean. The staff were wonderful, especially Eric who we had a great chat with and helped us with everything we needed. Such wonderful memories of New Orleans! Hopefully, we will see you all again!

Highlight of Our Stay in the Quarter

Room is very small and the floors are so unlevel it's like having vertigo.

The bed is lumpy and uncomfortable.

Bathroom is tiny with cracking tile and unclean.

Reception told us "adjoining parking was available on the phone but upon arrival was told six blocks away. Had to park in public parking.

Will not be back.

Cramped and Dirty

Very good location in the French Quarter. Eric the door man couldn’t have been more helpful. Room was relatively quiet considering the hotel is just a block off Bourbon Street   Close  to all amenities.   Will come back 

Good experience

If you don't plan on spending any time in your room or sleeping then this place is great. The room was disgustingly dirty upon checkin (clumps of hair in the bedspread blood in the bathroom, and little piles of dirt on the ground in the room), I asked for an upgrade (I would pay the difference) and the staff said no. Super loud at all times of the day, and the account manager literally hid so she didn't have to interact with us. 

Never again

This was our first time to New Orleans and we fell in love with this boutique hotel.  It's such a great location - restaurants/shopping and Jackson Square all just a short walk away.  Staff was friendly and accommodations were top notch.  We spent mornings and evenings on the balcony listing to the sounds of the city and even saw a couple of wedding parades.  We will be back! 

Location, location, location!

Oh how disappointed I was in this hotel.  Pictures online look so great but once you get inside, your heart will just sink.  Outside doesn't have to beautiful balconies that are in the pictures.  Walking into the lobby, it feels like this was an after thought.  Big black leather couch felt like something out of the 80s.  Went to the desk and the clerk seemed to be irritated with us but then became somewhat friendly.  Had to wait for check in at 4 but this was no big deal as we wanted to have lunch and explore.  Came back to hotel and the gal at the desk was helpful.  She gave us our key and had bell hop help with bags.  Thank the Lord up above he helped us!  We were on the 3rd floor and there are no elevators.  Courtyard was nice but had a lot of wasted space .This could have been an ideal place for breakfast, coffee, late night cocktail etc.  Three small tables with uncomfortable chairs.  The fountain had just a trickle of water.  Got to our room by going up, across and then up many steps.  This would have been fine if the steps had been nicely finished and not had cheap, dirty, worn carpet on it.  Room was small and could have been so quaint if it wasn't so run down.  I absolutely love the charm of old hotels and have stayed in many but this room had awful craftsmanship.  Grout was so thick in the shower it could have been painted on.  Rug covering the wood floor was worn thin and ripped.  Paint was chipped, peeling and had many water stains.  Some areas of room had mold.  Chair in room had stains all over it.  The sheets were very thin and worn.  We had trouble with our safe, toilet was clogged (understandable bc its an old building) and our tv didn't work.  We spoke to a very nice woman the next morning about the issues we were having.  She said she would have them taken care of.   Came back to the hotel later that night and toilet and tv were fixed but on the safe, someone just left some batteries on it.  Had left one of my bags in the closet, went to get something out of it and about peed my pants when I noticed something moving around.  Dumped it on the floor and a huge cockroach ran across the floor!   I have been to New Orleans over 10x and have never witnessed a cockroach in my hotel room.  Outside yes, inside no.  The bathroom is extremely small.  Once again, understandable bc this is the French Quarter.  Everything is small.  Shower is so awkward.  There is a half glass door and water will and did get everywhere.  There are no extra hooks to hang items or towels.  We usually only get fresh towels every few days but had to get them every day here because you will have to clean up the water all over the floor and toilet.  The mattress is something you would find in a sofa bed.  Lots of springs and no support.  I didn't notice any noise from other guests.  The location is wonderful.  I paid for a Deluxe Room and I know I received a Petite Room.   I paid a very pretty penny for the room and expected way, way, way more. So Extremely Disappointed.

Really Wanted to like it but....

Poor cleanliness and minimal amenities for the price.  Dirty. Unkept. The rationed toilet [paper and hand minimal furniture in the room.  Very noisy.  Stay elsewhere if possible. The manager would not discuss the issues despite our displeasure. Saw cockroaches the last day.

Dont stay here

The Staff members made our stay extraordinary special.  They were helpful in every way possible.  I can not say enough about how amazing every member of the staff was during our stay.  We will definitely be returning for another stay at this property.
