This place is a disaster. There is a musty smell that permeates the halls and room. The carpet looks like it hasn't been cleaned since the 70s, the room was freezing, no hot water, overloaded sockets, smoke detector hidden behind chest of drawers. Sorry for the people who gave this place more than 1 star, probably too embarrassed to admit they got ripped off by this dump. If you use a credit card keep an eye on it so they don't try to charge you for nights you didn't stay.

The hotel is beautiful and has so much character. The staff is friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 21. A large room full of antiques with private balcony overlooking Bourbon St. 
There is a bar in the lobby open until midnight and another bar right next door open until 2am. If you are a light sleeper,or like to go to bed early, I  would advise bringing ear plugs. We usually stay up late on vacation, so the noise did not bother us.
The ONLY  downside to our room was the bathroom. It was TINY!!! There is a step up into the bathroom, so if you need to get up in the middle of the night be careful stepping back down. If you're half asleep, you could fall.
This is the only reason for not getting 5 stars.

Wonderful

We chose this hotel due to location and  it’s quirkiness. Sadly that was where the good points ended. We were given very little information on check-in just given the room key and room level. On arriving late in the evening, the room appeared as a large room, with some antique-style furnishings. No room safe, no kettle just an empty fridge and a freezing cold room. A/c control is centrally located and not in anyway overridden. In daylight, the room was dilapidated. The curtains were hanging off and didn’t close, there were chandeliers in the ceiling but only 4 working lightbulbs, the carpet was disgusting, heavily soiled like a 1980’s pub/bar. I would not sit on it to even tie my shoes. In the edges of the room was utter filth were it hadn’t been cleaned for a long time. In the bathroom the bath appeared to have been painted and was peeling off during showering. The hot water took 10 minutes to come through and the shower wasn’t exactly powerful. Under the sink unit was filthy and so was the counters either side of the bath. While using the toilet a cockroach ran past and into the bedroom. Last seen heading under the bed… then we looked under the bed… that hadn’t been cleaned under for years. Absolutely disgusting, I asked for a can of spray to deal with the roach but apparently there wasn’t any. There were more cockroaches on the stairs but we did see pest control leave the following day. Apparently we learned on the last day, in order to get the bedding changed, clean towels or bins emptied, we had to pre-order house keeping at reception. The canopy above the bed had holes in it and the trim was hanging off. I would hate to think when that was last cleaned. The balcony decking had seen better days and appeared rotten in places. The bar staff pair, were absolutely miserable. Ironic that the words “Happy Hour” appear above the door as we must have missed that point of their day as they never even smiled once.  The bar area fabric seats had holes in pretty much all of them. Outside on the patio, 10 out of 14 of the seats had massive tears in them and the tables broken. This hotel isn’t cheap by any means, so for it to be in such a state of disrepair is disgraceful. We definitely wouldn’t recommend.

Disappointingly Dirty and Expensive Hotel.

First off, the location is great and the hotel itself is a beautiful old building. I stayed in room 20 which nice and had its own balcony over Bourbon Street. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was a decent size. There was a small refrigerator in the room, but no water or coffee facilities. I believe there is a coffee machine by the reception desk but I wasn’t told whether that was for communal use or not and didn’t want to just help myself. The bar area is lovely and there was a singer (Kristen) on the piano who was fantastic and really friendly. It is noisy - but that is to be expected due to the location and bar downstairs. 

There’s a corner store just up the street (Mattassa’s) that sells groceries, liqour and I would definitely recommend their catfish poboys. They also sell bottles of water for $1. 

However, I emailed the hotel a few days prior to my arrival and didn’t get a reply, when I checked in I was just handed a key and not told how to get to my room or about any of the amenities. The bar staff weren’t particularly friendly or welcoming apart from the young woman with red hair who worked on reception in the daytime. 

Just a head’s up - if staying in room 20 you have to run the hot water faucets for 10 minutes before you get hot water for a shower. I did raise this with hotel staff. 

Overall, I did enjoy my stay as the hotel was nice and the location was great.

A couple of things to mention though...

1. I think that they may have some issues with thier AC/Heating because our room was either so very cold (I slept fully clothed with a sweater on one night) or so very hot once called down to say we were cold. We slept with the balcony door open and just a sheet.  
So we were either freezing or steaming. 

2. And this is just a personal preference AND I'm sure it's different for other rooms..
But...
There's a school that's across the street, so be prepared to hear screams of children that starts at around 10am and lasts until at least 6pm. 

Again...
Im sure you probably can't hear it as much if you're not at the front of the property and this isn't something that's the hotels fault but it's worth mentioning. 

Overall I'd say, great place to stay. 

Cool Place

This hotel was perfectly located! On Bourbon St., an easy walk to everything but not in the center of the "crazy"! It's old with quirks, which was to be expected. Front desk staff was super helpful. No room service, but we didn't need it and didn't ask. Amazing balcony with view of Bourbon St. Late nights are noisy from the bar across the street, but we sleep with white noise. Bathroom was tiny with almost no water pressure in the shower. We stayed in room 21 the weekend before Halloween- no hauntings, per se, but some odd happenings. 
Here's the most bizarre story: so, I had been wanting another cat for several years and my husband didn't agree (he has mild allergies). On this trip, out of the blue, he says "let's get another cat". So, when we got home, we adopted a black cat, on Halloween, from the shelter and named him "Lafitte". Definitely some sorcery happening here, but I'll take it ! ;)
We would love to return one day!

Great, authentic New Orleans experience

My friends and I have stayed in many hotels in the French Quarter over the years, but this was easily our favorite one to date. I can't put into words how friendly and accommodating the whole staff was to us. Everyone from housekeeping to the front desk and the bar were extremely welcoming, fun, and friendly. I stayed in Room 21, but I had no idea it was haunted (turns out the whole hotel is haunted), but never heard any bumps in the night or saw any reflections in the mirror that didn't belong to me. However, we definitely had our encounters with "Marie" and the second floor hallway cabinet that the ghost kept opening in order to get a book for her daughter. One time we walked up the stairs and not only was the cabinet open (again) but there was a book laying open on the floor. Spooky as can be, but not scary. In fact, we loved it. 

Beautiful rooms, amazing staff, and a friendly ghost

My friend and I booked a girls weekend here just as Delta was ramping up. When we had to postpone because of Covid issues, they were so accommodating, offering us a refund or credit. We opted for the credit so we knew we'd make the trip. And from start to finish, the staff was so very friendly and helpful. Whether it was advice on things to do/see/eat or just hanging out with other guests at the downstairs bar (you will get talked into trying a voodoo daiquiri), we just enjoyed the atmosphere and camaraderie of the place. We had a 16 year old with us and even she loved it. 

The building is old and historical. The bannisters are lovely. There is local art on the walls heading all the way up. We stayed in Room 40, the loft. You can take the elevator to the 3rd floor but then need to walk up a flight so be prepared. It's a huge room with two large queen comfy beds, a sitting area, a small but functional bathroom, and a large well lit vanity for getting ready. The three of us could use the space. You have plenty of room to stretch out and not feel on top of each other. Also the views from this room are gorgeous with multiple vistas. As mentioned in previous reviews, you do need to turn on the water a few minutes before you want to shower so the hot water works it way up. I would also say the shower pressure could be better, but the rain water shower head is lovely. There is also plenty of drawer space in antique dressers/nightstands/vanity table if you like to unpack.  Lastly, I always bring ear plugs when I travel but was really surprised at how quiet it was given there is a bustling (also historic) bar across the street. We stayed during the week so that might make a difference. 

They also have a driver available for airport runs. Be sure to ask before you go!

Note that this hotel is said to be haunted. If you're sensitive, keep that in mind.

To sum up, an excellent location in the heart of the French Quarter that's just far enough away from the hubbub to make things accessible without all the noise.

Excellent Location - Excellent Service

What a warm welcome to a most fabulous historic home/hotel smack on burbon street!  I wouldn't want to ever stay anywhere else! I'll add pics later. You've just got to see this place! Converted 1800's mansion. Vintage. Beautiful staircases, bar, piano player on Thursdays. Relaxing courtyard. Balcony with tables and chairs. Complimentary coffee bar. Security cameras and locked doors. Steps away from all the action on burbon street, but free from the noise (I don't know how).

Most Fabulous!

This boutique hotel exceeded our expectations in hosting an event in the bar, piano lounge, and courtyard. They catered to all of our requests without any hesitation and executed our reception flawlessly. They go above and beyond the hospitality factor to ensure patrons and guests keep returning.
