Booked a 2 bedroom cottage never told bathroom is in one of the bedrooms so you have to walk through someone’s bedroom in the middle of the night to use bathroom. Thought I was booking a 3 bed cottage never told on the phone it was 2 beds when I get here they have a sofa bed that can’t pull out because the table is blocking it they are making a smaller than a motels room smooshing what they can in.

Tricky practice small outdated cabins

We stayed here over 30 years ago and decided to go back .It was a pleasure and loved it ..We were in room 222 and the room was clean and had a kitchen ..The view of the lake every morning  was awesome ..The pool was closed for the season but the lake was nice ..We would go back next season and looking forward to it..

Quick getaway with my wife

My son and I live in Rockland County, NY, and wanted to go to someplace within NYS, and stay someplace safe (rooms spread out, no indoor corridors, no lobby, not in the crowded village of Lake George), during this COVID-19 Pandemic.  My son suggested going back to Lake George (We came to L.G. last summer, but stayed in a typical, nothing special chain-motel in Queensbury.), but wanted to stay on the lake.  I remembered staying at Capri Village Motel 51 years ago, this summer, and having a wonderful time.  I remembered that it fit my description (stated above) of a safe place to stay during the times in which we're currently living, and that it had a beautiful private beach, to boot--another added safety feature.  It was more expensive than some of the other places I looked at, but based on the photos of the other places, and locations, I ended up booking with Capri Village.   I'm glad I did; it did not disappoint!   
Capri Village was filled to current operating capacity, but there was plenty of space.   Only 2 people--wearing masks--were permitted in the relatively small office at a time.  Additionally, one was supposed to book ahead of time, minimizing the amount of time spent in the office.  It didn't take us long, at all, although it took the people ahead of us a very long time.  Notes: During these times (maybe always), one is given a choice as to whether they want housekeeping every day, some days, or not at all, at least in the motel rooms.  Even if you decline the daily housekeeping, you can still get new towels.  They just leave them for you, in a bag, outside your room.  And check-in isn't until 3:00 PM.  Capri Village is very up-front about their COVID rules and safety procedures on their website.
We were told ahead of time that we would have a motel room with a lake view.  Not only was the view lovely, from the window facing that way, and from the almost private porch, but the room was also lovely--bright, pretty contemporary, and clean, and had plenty of space to move around.   The room included a table and 2 chairs, and a separate tub-shaped chair which was SOOOO comfortable!  
Other room info:  The towels are plush.  The shower water-pressure is just right.   They give you a little packet of shampoo, and have soap dispensers both by the sink and in the shower.  I wasn't stuck on the eucalyptus or tea-tree scent in the soap by the sink, but liked the pomegranate scent of the soap in the shower.  I, personally, found the mattress to be too firm.  The room was quiet and the AC worked just fine.
Other info:  One needs to walk downhill to get to the beach, although it's not a super-steep hill--part of it is paved and part is grass.  There is a foot shower and bathrooms, but they're not near the beach--they're on the grass by one set of closest rooms to the lake.  By the lake, there's a raised deck with tables and chairs.  There are plenty of chairs on the sand and grass, as well.   Capri Village sports volleyball, badminton, and shuffleboard.   People seemed to bring their own sand toys and a variety of flotation devices.    There are a couple of kayaks one may sign out and borrow for an hour.   It also lists rowboats to borrow, and I do remember, as a child, taking out a rowboat everyday before breakfast, but this time, I only saw 1 rowboat, which was upside-down throughout our stay.  Many of the rooms had grills in front of them; the motel rooms in the building that we stayed in, did not.  There is no restaurant or place to get food on the premises.  The Capri Village is on a trolley line:  going to the village of Lake George, one just needs to flag down the trolley.  On the way back from the village of L.G., just tell the driver to stop at Capri Village.    Ask at the office where to pick up the trolley going to Lake George. 
 Trolleys run every 2 hours going in each direction.  The office workers at Capri Village are very nice and helpful.   And lastly, check-out at Capri Village is at 10:00 AM.  
We would stay here again.

Still enjoyable!

I booked 5 rooms about a month ago, for 5 families for July 4th through the 7th. We paid the deposit, all 5 families all ready to go. I get a call today, a month later, informing me that they've had to cancel our reservation- FIVE ROOMS for FIVE FAMILIES because there's another family interested in renting out those rooms for a whole week which is longer than our reservation. It's not first book first serve in this hotel, it's longest stay better chances of them not cancelling your reservations less than a week before your arrival. Will never book again here.

Overall, a great value.

At this "middle" price point CAPRI offers the best place to stay on the lake. We have stayed at Flamingo, Alpine Village and O'Sullivans (in town). 

My views about CAPRI are based on a unit that faces the pool with 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, deck and grill.  We have rented this same unit 3 times over the last 5 years.

GOOD:  the best beach, grounds, pool and views. 
The beach is raked clean every morning, the chairs cleaned and lined up.  The grounds are always clean and the grass trimmed. The area is big enough for sports, darts, volleyball, etc. Free use of kayaks, canoes and a row boats. The views are spectacular. 

The pool is wonderful, clean with an ample patio area for seating.  The kitchen saves us money and we enjoy eating our own cooking.  

ACCEPTABLE: Parking is a bit tight, especially during August. During August all the rooms are booked and parking is at a premium. And yes, your neighbors brought up more vehicles than they told the front desk about. This does create parking problems. Once we "lost" our spot. It was quickly resolved. 

The kitchen and bathrooms are old but clean. We've never had any trouble with other guests. And it has always been quiet at night. 

BOTTOM LINE:  The rooms are not new, but "lived in", yet acceptable. The grounds are spotless. Being on the lake is what matters. This is not the MARRIOTT (in town). If you want a brand new room *off the lake* and like paying $$$ for ALL your meals out, then stay there.  

Over the last 5 years we've always been treated well by the owners. 

We love CAPRI and look forward to coming back every year.

An Honest Review

So we go to Lake George every year and always try out new places. This year was Capri Village. The reason we chose it was it’s fair price and the fact it had a second bedroom. We stayed in a Lakeside cabin with no maid service. It had bunk beds with a full bed underneath which was great for my 14 yr old and her friend.  The “2nd” bedroom could be better as it is a room with a full bed which is small although not awful but no window since it’s in middle and nothing but the  bed, no end table, lamp (only awful overhead lights) no dresser, no shelves so there is no place to put anything. There is a dresser in other room. The bathroom is connected to both rooms with 2 doors. The bathroom was clean and looked fairly new although zero places to hang anything, no hooks anywhere, no soap dishes so that is a bit annoying. The couch was little dirty so I put a blankets from my car on top, it had crumbs under cushions! Dishes, glasses, coffee pot, fridge provided all good condition. Crappy dining table, could be better, these look like from a cafeteria. Deck was just painted, it was very nice, great picnic table to eat outside. Pool was clean and warm. Grounds were kept beautiful! Beautiful lawn and a gorgeous waterfront that is nicely maintained! I loved it, it was worth the whole trip!  Kayaks free , we loved them and used them every morning. The tables have a beautiful linen cover so you can sit there all day. The have ping ping, shuffleboard, horseshoes, volleyball, basketball, and grills. They have a stand alone new bathroom so you can use instead of walking back up hill or for after check out. They provided coffee in am. People were nice. I would recommend it here for waterfront alone.

My family and I stayed here for a week and we're glad we did.  The entire facility was clean and well taken care of.  Some amenities were an outdoor heated pool, table tennis, shuffleboard, free coffee from 8-10am, volleyball, and horseshoes.  This place has it's own sandy beach by the shore of Lake George that was cleaned and groomed every day.  Also, free kayaking was a big plus.  The husband and wife owners of the place were very nice and helpful during our stay there.  The only negative about this place is the very old ice machine that broke twice on me during our stay.  I would give my rating 3.75 stars, but it wasn't bothersome enough for me to drop my review from a perfect 5-star rating.

Lots To Do And Right Off Of Lake George

This was my first experience at Capri Village and the previous reviews made me a bit wary. However, we had a great time. The staff we interacted with were all friendly, helpful and professional. The beach was pristine and there were plenty of lounge chairs, regular chairs and kayaks available. The rooms were dated (we stayed in MT), but were functional for what we needed. My criticisms/feedback to the resort would be that house-keeping didn't clean our rooms until after 3:00 each day and the air conditioner was so noisy that it interfered with our sleep. I do look forward to returning and I hope that the resort continues to make improvements.

A Great Time!

We have been going to Capri for many years and in the past 2 years, they have become extremely condescending and unfriendly.  Their customer service rating is a "0".   If you book and think they are treating you right - just wait -their true colors come out.   They lie about room availability, and you would change rooms at least once or twice during your stay.  You end up packing and unpacking more than relaxing and enjoying your stay.    Trust this review -- DO NOT BOOK!!!!   You will regret it!

Very Unprofessional and Condescending.

There is no such thing as customer service at this place. It's a family business and the wife/mother is extremely rude and treats guests with much disrespect. We paid for a Lakeview room and received a room that was not lake view [L2 - 157]. We went to the office to advise that we PAID the extra money to get Lakeview, after much talk she moved our room to an actual Lakeview [L2- 150].  She threw the keys right on the counter. Aside from that, WIFI barely worked throughout the trip. It is false advertising that they have free wifi. Towels were never changed as promised. 

My family and I have been coming to Capri Village for over four years. 2017 was special. We were treated poorly and looked down upon. One of the days was pouring rain, so we had called to inquire to get a lake check. We were advised that it will be $50.  When I went to the office to pay the late checkout fee, the owner quickly changed her mind and refused and kept on saying to "vacay her property." 

There are many polite ways to get your point across and this facility maybe a nice and spacious place however, the rudeness, insensitivity and lack of professionalism has been out of this world this year. 

There are many other resorts around that professional. Will definitely not go back to Capri Village.  Would never want to be treated like that once more.
