The Inn Bliss was an outstanding choice of lodging.  We had the house to ourselves and were able to lounge in the living room, use the kitchen, and visit on the front porch.  The bedroom and bathroom were spacious.  Parking was available on the street, right in front of the house.  We did not have breakfast included, but look forward to that another time.  

Very comfortable accommodations

I’ve rented at the owner’s other house, Architect’s Inn, and enjoyed every minute of it. This time, a few friends and I wanted to have a mini vacation in Newport so we decided we would try Inn Bliss. What a treat! There’s nothing like staying in a historic house that’s been well-maintained. It was lovely and eclectic in style, yet it felt like home. The rooms were very comfortable when relaxing. The owner made sure we knew the latest on restaurants and attractions which was very helpful. Everything about this house and this trip was “bliss”!

A couple of my team stayed at Inn Bliss. I planned an event for a large group of sales people, and we had a couple of them at Inn Bliss. What a beautiful place! The rooms are clean and delightful, and the location is perfect. Thank you for giving my team a wonderful stay!

Love It!

We rented the Inn Bliss for a girl's weekend in August. Nick was very accommodating to our arrival time, as most of our party could not arrive until later in the evening. Each one of us had our own bed, which was nicely made up with sheets, pillow cases and blankets! We also each had a towel set to use for the weekend. We didn't have to pack any linens- it was great! The entire house has AC, which was a pleasant surprise upon our arrival. It definitely made sleeping very comfortable! The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, dishware, etc- everything you could ever need is provided! 

Upon arrival, Nick showed two of us around the entire house. He made sure we knew how everything worked. He even sat with us and explained a map of the area, suggesting things to do and places to go for the weekend. There was even a plate of home made chocolate chip cookies upon arrival :) 

There was an issue with the mail delivery and Nick receiving my check. Long story short, my check got lost in the mail, and Nick even covered the $30 stop fee I was charged from my bank! 

Nick was accessible by phone the entire weekend. We happened to blow a fuse. I texted Nick, and he responded quickly telling me how to fix the problem. Power was restored!

Great location!

This B&B had a few positive attributes which were outweighed by the negatives.  The rooms were very clean, the bed was comfortable and the food was delicious.  The inn has some major safety issues in cement stairs with no handrail that lead up from the sidewalk, nearly vertical porch steps and  steep,  narrow staircases inside the house that would not be maneuverable with any physical limitations.   The decor is puzzling and incongruent.  Antiques are mixed with a huge poster of a Barbara Streisand album and a mirror decorated in glass aquarium stones hot glued to the frame (and falling off).  The layout of the rooms are strange.  In the room we stayed in, the toilet was located in a tiny closet with a sloping ceiling.  Despite these issues, the biggest problem I had with this B&B was the lack of organization and courtesy by the owner.  Our check in was a nightmare.  The inn has some unusual rules such as removing shoes and telephoning one hour prior to arrival.  I assumed the call was for someone to be available for check in.  We provided our names and were told to park around the corner on Sunnyside Place. We  searched in vain for the street because THAT parking area  is actually located at the owners' other property across town at  The Architect Inn!!!   We lugged our bags up the steep, dangerous steps and tried the doorknob to discover that it was locked and there was no one there.  We phoned the innkeeper once more and were told that there was a key left on the bottom  shelf of a hutch on the porch. We wondered why we had to telephone if no one would greet us and why weren't we provided any information (maybe with a simple text) about checking in.   In the freezing cold at dusk, we searched for the key in the closed part of the hutch to no avail.  So-another phone call.  We finally  discovered the key stuck between grooves in the top, open part of the furniture.  After finally letting ourselves in,we wanted only to to use the restroom and shower before our dinner reservations.  The toilet would not flush and when I tried to wash my hands, I realized the water had not been turned on.  So-one more call to the innkeep.   At this point, we were tired, hungry and frustrated.  We took our bags and decided to leave.  The innkeeper arrived and said he would remedy the situation.  I decided to give him one final chance to make amends (only because this inn is tied to an event weekend).   The most egregious issue I encountered was that the owner never apologized for the inconvenience and frustration his lack of planning created.  I thought that something would at least be said  at check out.  I was wrong,.  Upon paying over $900 for the weekend, I was told that I was “all set”.  There was not even a “thank you” or a “hope you had a nice stay” I was not seeking monetary compensation.   I just wanted an apology.  In another tripadvisor review titled “Rude Owner”, the owner responds with a dictionary definition. Well-the definition of hospitality is “receiving and treating guests in a warm, friendly, generous way” or “taking care of your guests and anticipating their needs”  Making major mistakes that inconvenience and anger your guests without an apology certainly does not fit this definition. There are 101 B&B's in Newport-most with nicer accommodations and more gracious  hosts.
