We went with our dog and it was fabulous all around. The accommodations were clean, dog-friendly and our room had a large walk in shower & a big picture window. Decor was spot on with the dog theme, yummy grab & go breakfast, check in was seamless and the physical location was centrally located to multiple landmarks.

This place gets 5 paws up!

My husband and I went to Paws on Pelham for our anniversary. We brought our two dogs (Cheddar and Bari) to share in the weekend. The hotel is so cute and the room was great. IT was so nice to stay at a place that not only welcomes dogs but is geared toward them. Our two felt right at home curling up on the couch after a fun filled day at the cliff walk. The second night we didn't even bring them out with us since they were so tired. The first night we went to O'Brian's which had a dog friendly patio. The hotel is centrally located and we never felt far away from our four legged kids. We will definitely be back!

Great weekend getaway with the fur kids

My husband and I traveled to Newport for the first time at the end of August 2024. We choose Newport due to the dog friendly nature of the town and booked with Paws on Pelham because of the exceptional reviews and it's prime location. Our 13 year-old cocker spaniel was not disappointed and neither were we! Not only is the inn located in the best spot (two blocks from the wharf, a park at the end of the block perfect for potty breaks, and a short walk to the mansions) it is truly the most magical little inn! Ashley greeted us and gave us the lay of the land with all the warmth you can hope for. Our room was probably the cleanest room we have ever stayed in! And it was maintained this way throughout our trip with housekeeping adding little details on the various paper products in the room. The shower was an absolute delight! And our little guy loved the trundle dog bed! They are understanding about leaving your dog in the room while you go out and explore, with housekeeping working around your schedule within their designated hours. Lisa continued to check-in on us throughout our stay and exuded kindness.  My one small suggestion: With the increase in refrigeration needed for dog food, we would have loved to have a larger fridge to work with. There was one small community "dorm room" fridge in the lobby. While this was fine, the space was used quickly. By putting a larger fridge in the lobby or the 2nd floor "guest area" with baskets labeled with room numbers, this could be fixed easily. We plan on returning to Newport during the colder months and will be booking with Paws on Pelham again without hesitation.

Magical Getaway with our Senior Pup

We had a wonderful stay at Paws on Pelham.  Lisa and the staff were fantastic and very helpful.  The breakfast was great and a nice opportunity to meet other guests.  The outdoor space is very nice: porch, patio, roof deck.  Dogs are not just welcomed but are celebrated.  The room and entire Inn is very clean and well cared for. We will stay here again and will recommend it to friends and family.

Paws on Pelham is a gem!

We really enjoyed our stay at the dog friendly Paws on Pelham. Lisa and the staff were welcoming and accommodating. The well located inn is immaculately maintained and the decor is just perfect for both owners and their dogs. We stayed in room 5 which was light filled (thanks to numerous windows) with a window seat that our dog Siena thoroughly enjoyed when we were not out and about. From the thoughtful touches to the delicious grab and go breakfast (with various outdoor spaces to enjoy it), the inn exceeded our expectations. We would not hesitate to book our next Newport visit there or recommended the inn to others who enjoy traveling with their dogs.

Wonderful Stay...

We had a wonderful stay at Paws on Pelham! The room was very clean and so cute. It was a treat to stay somewhere where dogs are not just allowed but celebrated. They're even allowed on the roof deck! It is also very conveniently located and we were able to walk everywhere. We will definitely stay here again.

Other reviewers are correct that there was no one at the front desk during our trip, which did not bother us—they were responsive via text. It was also fairly empty while we were there so cannot speak to sound transfer between rooms.

First, the good:
location is great
breakfast is delicious
shared public areas (porch, patio, etc) are really nice
parking spot is nice to have

Things that could be improved:
Check-in process: We had been emailed a code to use to access our room and told that our arrival time was acceptable, but when we got there the room had not been cleaned. There was no one at the desk (this was typical of our stay) and no one answered the # i was given. It was all straightened out and was fine, but then we had new codes to use (one for front door and one for room door). One of the entrance doors is super hard to open, and there was a constant beeping the entire time we were there.
The walls are also super thin so you hear every noise of your neighbors. They have sound machines in each room and ear plugs available to help deal with this, but it was still hard to sleep.
I'd probably stay here again as the people who worked there were very nice and helpful when we saw them, and the location is great.

Not bad but not amazing

Fantastic time.  The rooms are adorable and the location is perfect.  Beautiful rooftop deck.  The breakfast was great served in a very quaint room.  We are dog lovers, and even though we don't have a dog...(we lost her 2 years ago) it was nice to play with everyone else's dogs.  Hope to go back soon.

Give This Place A Try!!!!

Access: Difficult for anyone with mobility concerns
There are a two sets of steps to get into the property and an additional step at the front door.  

Room #1 - high ceilings and lots of natural light. There is a separate street-facing living room (folks on the porch can look into the window but there are blackout shades on all the windows).   There is a k-cup coffee maker, small fridge, sofa and easy chair.  Beneath the counter is a space with a cushion for a not large pet to enjoy.  They also provide generous water and food dishes.

Bedroom has two nice double-paned (noise-reducing) windows.  The bedside tables have small table lamps not great for reading in bed.  The bed is large and comfortable.

The closet has about a dozen hangers, a full size ironing board and iron, and extra pillows.

The bathroom is large, well-lit.  The vanity has double sinks and a large mirror with two small drawers and undersink cabinets.

Negative: Shower is very large (with a small step) but the water pressure is weak.  In warm weather this is not such a big deal but on a winter morning it might be cold showering in a space too large to really get hot and steamy.

Staff: Rarely was anyone at the front desk but there are amenities like another coffee machine, dog waste bags, beach towels and maps of Newport.  We were texted upon arrival and there was a person at checkin.  We received no texts for checkout and had no one at the desk, but we phoned the number provided and managed checkout over the phone.

Breakfast: 
Service starts at 8 am which is late for many travelers.  I saw a number of guests bringing their own breakfasts in around 7.  There are lots of juices, cold water with fruiti or cucumbers which I found lovely and refreshing.  The have fresh fruit, yogurt, and muffins alongside a hot option.  It is self-serve in the basement so lots of steps for anyone but particulalry if you are on the second or third floor.

There is lots of outdoor seating - including a small rooftop area.

Perfect for Dogs!
So many dogs - and lovely dog owners to pet and chat about dogs.  There are lots of grassy parks nearby, including Truro Park which is large and shady.  

A short walk from the hotel in one direction is Bellevue Ave, the main street, an easy walk to the Tennis Hall of Fame, and shops and restaurants.  In the other direction the wharf is an easy stroll downhill, and there are small quieter areas with coffee shops and interesting retail.

Clean as a whistle!  Excellent location.

I loved the place. It was adorable. No pet smell at all for a pet Inn. Clean, well kept, breakfast was good, friendly staff. It feels more a home than hotel. Location was great too.  Very quiet.   I went on the weekdays so no idea how weekend was. Highly recommend and certainly will use Paws on Pelham again.
