The hotel was clean and well stocked. There was a coffee maker with all of the things you would need to make coffee (sugar creamer etc) and even had tea. There was tons of bottled water stocked left for the guests.  The room had a mini fridge and a microwave. The manager Theresa had taken the time to write out all of the nearby restaurants so you didn't have to search on your own. The wifi worked great. The bathroom was so nice! The shower head was like rainfalling on you! (We were in the bridal suite on the second floor) We had great cell service as well. The view right from the room window was unbelievable!  Every room has a view and chairs outside to sit and watch the stars. The grounds were well manicured and had a fire pit and picnic tables. Theresa (the manager) was very kind and helpful with anything we may have needed! She even gave us some farm fresh eggs on our way out! We will definitely be back! Theresa really makes this place feel like home! We are so glad to have met her! If you want a clean room with friendly and hospitable staff with an AMAZING VIEW then I highly recommend this place!

Amazing view!

I hate to give bad reviews to struggling businesses, but since reviews have helped us so much while traveling, I feel compelled to warn others to be careful about booking the Eastern Whitcomb Summit. 

The place is quite rundown and is actually awkwardly located behind an abandoned restaurant/gift shop building.

The view is absolutely stunning, but it did not make up for a boil water notice due to E. coli, which is apparently a known and ongoing problem, according to locals. The motel provided a lot of bottled water, but we did not even want to in contaminated water, so after one uncomfortable night on a bad mattress, we relocated.  The management was very nice about refunding our remaining days, which we appreciated.

The views are really amazing and worth the drive, but the place is rough.  (And don't make my mistake... there are TWO summits on the Mohawk Trail.  The WESTERN Summit is delightful -- redone Wigwam Gift Shop and cabins and great coffee and baked goods, also with a great view.  But the EASTERN Summit is not a place we would ever return to.

We've stayed at the Whitcomb Summit Retreat several times, although this was our first trip back in a long time. When we had to cut our trip short, we were told that our last night could not be refunded----and yet it was! Thank you for your understanding.
Rooms are very clean and on a good day you can actually see forever.

My family and I came to the Whitcomb Summit Retreat during early August of 2020 to escape the every day stress brought on by this wild year. We used to go camping at the Mohawk Trail State Forest down the road when we were all kids, but as our parents got older, staying at Whitcomb Summit was a more comfortable way to enjoy the area.

Our stay this year was perfect. It was incredibly quiet and peaceful. The sunrises and cool blue evenings over looking the mountains were sights to behold. The rooms were immaculate. The beds were comfortable. My family and I had been coming up to Whitcomb Summit on and off for about 30 years and this is the best stay we've had there. It was incredibly difficult to leave and return home after our 2 nights.

The owners were very communicative, accommodating, and knowledgable of the area. We hope to get back there as soon as we can. (Maybe even for the fall foliage if we're lucky!)

Truly a Retreat

We stayed here at the end of October when the foliage had just ended. The view of the mountains was still amazing and we wished we still had the foliage. Our room actually had two rooms with two double beds, a TV, fridge/freezer, microwave, coat room, two desks, two nice chairs facing out at the mountain, and the most amazing stone tiled shower! It was a bit chilly and very windy and rainy the next day, but there were also deck chairs to be able to sit out on the porch. The office is a bit small, but we had the most amazing stay!

Magnificent views!

Found this Gem last minute! Great Views. Not a quiet area and room was not cleaned daily, however, now that I know this, I would stay again. Most attractions are in North Adams which isn’t too far to travel. It looks as if, at one time, there was a restaurant at site, but all worn down. Mountains and views galore and an awesome sunrise and sunset! Rooms certainly need updating.

Great Views

Owners had my first review pulled because they didn’t like it. Presumably they claimed it couldn’t be proved I stayed there. Well I did and it wasn’t very good. 

The room are basically like sheds. There were flies everywhere (given the low temperatures - there must be a hygiene issue nearby for them to be surviving in such numbers)

They got our room wrong. We told them we’d emailed them in February our choice but got back a rather sullen ‘our email don’t go back that far’ in response. 

To top it off, when we just wanted to get away the next morning - not only was there no hot water ... there was no water AT ALL. You couldn’t even flush the loo. 

This place has all the charm of a kids den in the woods made out of old pallets.

Let’s see what excuse they approach Tripadvisor with now to get this review pulled rather than address the issues in how they describe the place online (and what they charge) versus the reality of what you’re going to get if you daft enough (like us) to stay here. 

I’ve added a picture I took whilst staying at this place so you (& Tripadvisor) can be sure I actually stayed there. It’s a panorama showing the view from upstairs and you can see the parking lot and picnic tables out front of the place. 

2nd review

I have to say the view from the hotel is simply breath taking. Sadly our stay at this hotel was the complete opposite. Booked the room back in February, exchanged emails with the owner and our rom was confirmed. When we arrived we were given a different room, I reminded Theresa of the exchange of emails and was told that her emails didn’t go back that far. In fairness she did change our room to a room on the top floor but not as big. Nice enough room with a duvet without a cover ( same as next door) and flies. Woke the next morning to no water. We could not flush the toilet or at that point grab a shower. Theresa and her husband did come to the property eventually to remedy the situation however by this time we were just pleased that we had only booked one night. As I have said great views but I would keep driving 

Beautiful views but..........

We attended a local festival and stayed one night.  The room was very large but the toilet in the bathroom was in a very small area (although the bathroom was average size.). I am small and it was still awkward.  The shower rod was rusted and the tv signal was awful.  The next morning when we went to wash up there was no water.  Headed out if there pretty quickly.  This place reminded me of the Bates Motel.


Nice View But That’s It

Truly a diamond in the rough! Spectacular views and nice people who are very accommodating. We stayed two nights and loved the breathtaking views! It was very quiet and relaxing with spacious rooms which were very clean. Cute local restaurants and places to hike near by. Nice amenities including recommended restaurants and a continental breakfast. The rooms have a deck to sit on outside your room which was wonderful to watch the sunset or rise. Very beautiful grounds to walk around! Just what we needed to get away to this remote spot. We will definitely be back!
