The reviews are right. STAY ANYWHERE BUT HERE. Rooms smell like smoke and intense stench of moth balls. I slept on my sweatshirt and wrapped in my own blanket because this place skeeved me. Floor is disgusting, I wore my sandals while walking around. Paper thin, worn out towels. Only 2 provided. The furniture is old, worn, dirty and dated. Horrible mattress, I sunk into it, hardly slept. I hightailed it outta there as soon as it was daylight. Undesirable hanging around, made me uneasy. Don't let the pictures fool you. There is no coffee, no beautiful Adirondack chairs, no flowers and no lights on the pergola. Friggin GROSS. DO NOT STAY HERE!

ZERO STARS FOR STARDUST

I booked a one night stay at Stardust because of its decent ratings, affordability and convenient location near Foxwoods Casino (where we saw a comedy show). When we came back late at night, after the show, I was disappointed to discover our room's shabby furnishings, sagging soft mattress, and weak shower pressure but accepted these negatives because I knew it was a barebones motel. However, I was horrified by the dirtiness of our room. There were brown stains on the window curtains and it didn't even look like the bathroom had been cleaned from the last occupant's stay. There were stray dark hairs in the shower, dried soap scum on the walls, and my bath towel had large (old) brown stains on it! It was stuffy in the room but we had to turn off the air conditioning because a stale smell was coming out of it. We couldn't open the windows for fresh air because there were no screens on them and we didn't want bugs flying in. We had no idea what the Wifi password was and it was too late at night to ask the front office about it (and complain about the state of our bathroom). The only redeeming quality of our room was that the bed sheets looked clean. I'm not looking to put this place out of business - the owners were friendly enough - but the Stardust Motel is definitely not worth the high ratings that it gets and I wanted to warn others that you will have to lower your cleanliness standards big time if staying at this place.

Not as advertised

When was the last time this place was reviewed?  The place has seen its day. Good for one night only  seems clean but is dated . Place of last resort. Next time will check with trip advisor.  I booked through AAA and will deal with their rating system.

Good for one nigh!

We booked the Stardust and it was not a bad stay.  Check in was quick. Room was a decent amount for a Saturday night.  

The room was spacious and clean (bathroom didn't have any towels).  

We took an Uber to Foxwoods and back for a concert.

Check out was easy too

Not bad for a nights stay

Upon driving up,  you wouldn't expect much judging by the outside of the motel. The fact that I Paid $50 for the night also had expectations very low.  I just needed a place for the night and this was the closest and available. 

When I opened the door I was pleasantly surprised by the room.  You could see immediately that the room was renovated,  updated,  and actually looked similar to a holiday inn or other 3 star hotel.  

The bathroom was great, with pedestal sink,  nice tile,  great look,  and shower was was very nice as well. The bathroom also had a heating fan above so morning shower was nice. 

All of the furnishings looked nice, the bed was very comfortable and Direct TV had over 300 channels. TV was only about 40" but it was fine. 
The fridge worked well and the war also a microwave oven, though I didn't use it. 

The ONLY thing missing was wireless internet connection, so I just chilled and watched the celtics game. 
BTW, I would have paid $100 with no complaints and have stayed at hotels that supposedly were 3 star hotels that were no better than the stardust. 

I stayed in room 122, not sure for the other rooms,  but 122 was great!

GREAT room, especially for the price

It's dated and the beds need upgrading, not stiff enough.  The innkeeper Matt was pleasant and easy to business with.  The cleanliness was acceptable and its in a very quiet location.  Nice to have the doughnut shop just down the road.  Lawn and parking lot were clean and neat.  If you are just looking to crash for some time and then get back on the road, this is a good place to do it. I got a good nights sleep and I would stay again if I'm ever coming through.  Bottom line is it's a $60 room, you get what you pay for.

Good dollar value

Room was clean. Front desk was friendly and responsive when we asked for a blow dryer and extra towels. Charging port with multiple outlets on the nightstand was a nice touch. Close enough to Mystic to be the home base for our vacation. 

Solid choice for budget travelers

You know how sometimes you instantly know you've made a serious mistake? I knew the minute we struggled up the slippery stairs with the loose railing to get to our room at the Stardust Motel. Yikes. I'm guessing it has seen much better days maybe a decade ago and absolutely nothing has been updated nor thoroughly cleaned in the last ten years. The room was so dirty. Stains on the curtains, walls, the ceiling, the bedding. One bedspread was burnt with cigarette holes. The carpet was gross. I don't know the last time it was vacuumed but neither of us wanted to walk with bare feet on it. The fridge either didn't work on the side or froze everything. The microwave was tiny. The television was tiny and get freezing up or going to all pixels. The remote was gunky. The phone had gross gunk on it. I didn't want to touch it. The television did get channels but only upper channels via DirectTv so no local channels which was pretty weird. We opened a drawer in the bureau and it fell right out. My mother hung a towel up in the bathroom and the whole rack fell right out of the wall. We killed what looked like a water spider that was happily living in the bathtub. There was rust and goo all over the tub. The water in the sink took forever to go down. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been really cleaned in five years. I've never stayed anywhere so dirty. I even went to Walmart and bought a pillow and small blanket to use because I didn't want to sleep under the covers. The towels weren't replaced until we asked. They left us half a roll of toilet paper so on day two we had to ask for that to be replaced. The door had three locks. One worked, one did not and the other was just a door chain that went no where. We could hear noise all night from next door and from the trucks going by on the highway. It's close to the highway but not close to anything to do. The only thing that worked well was the air conditioner. I get that it's a basic no frills motel but wow, I expect at least some level of cleanliness. Yuck.

Didn't Look Like It Had Been Cleaned in a Decade

We had rented a place in Madison, CT, for a week for the week of the 4th of July and after that we wanted to move on to a place that we could use as a base to explore eastern parts of CT, and RI. We didn't need to be on the water, just a clean and safe place to stay for a few days. This little place was all of that. It is not fancy, the location is just along I-95 on the CT, side of the border, but it was just what we wanted. We had spent over $50 more at a dingy, dirty hotel on Route 1 in Clinton. I would go back here again.
