Leighton and Kim couldn't have been any more cordial or gracious. When we arrived I did not get the room I had hope to get and had previewed online. Kim was so accommodating about the issue and gave us a wonderful room with a great King size mattress. 

The location of the hotel is right in the center of Oaks Bluff and cannot be beat. The rooms are remodeled and immaculate the entire place is just very quaint and charming. Highly recommended from my stand-point!

30th Wedding Anniversary Weekend

We were recently in town for an overnight on the island.  We knew we would be spending most of our time seeing the island, so we didn't need posh accommodations.  This hotel is perfectly situated in Oak Bluffs and was exactly what we were looking for.  The room was not perfect and definitely not very spacious, but for a good nights rest, it worked for us.  We were on the first floor and enjoyed the soothing sounds of the window air conditioning unit and the provided sound machine-no outside noises were heard.  The hotel was about a five minute walk from the Hy-Line ferry and the staff were very nice to let us drop off our luggage before our room was available.  We would consider staying here again in the future.   

Decent room, perfect location! 

We loved the location.  It was an easy walk from the ferry and to all the restaurants, beach, bike rentals, etc.  For location, 5 stars.  The Hotel is more of an Inn I would say.  We rarely saw anyone at the "front desk".  The rooms are new, nice mattress and bedding but there is so little room for anything else.  The floor space is such that it was difficult to even open 2 carry on sized roller bags.  The bathrooms are very nice but they need hooks and more towel racks.  The reason for the 3 stars is the AC window unit.  When it is on, it is very loud and doesn't feel cool.  When it isn't running the room is extremely stuffy.  The rooms need fans!  The windows do not have screens on them so we weren't sure if we should open.  Plus, the bar across the street would be noisy if the windows are open at night.  So, overall we had a great vacation on MV but we were uncomfortable in our room.

Don’t recommend this hotel. We decided to safe $60 and not book Summer camp, but stay at Ginger hotel. I will always regret this bad decision. The bar on the corner it’s so loud, we probably didn’t sleep more then 6 hours for both nights of our stay. The ac/heat didn’t work, nobody fixed it or called to explain what can be done. The room is so bright you can’t sleep after sunrise, they have paper blinds that make the room even more brighter. I can continue on and on, but the biggest problem was that it was so loud! It won’t be a nice, romantic and quiet vacation you expect!

Awful experience

This is a quaint and charming boutique hotel in the heart of Oak Bluffs. Hotel Ginger is steps away from Ocean Park, Back Door Donuts and Circuit St. We loved the art work and evening live music in the lobby. Our room was small but comfortable for the two of us. We travel in the UK and France regularly and are accustomed to unique spaces. The ac was cold and we had a nice view of the Bandstand and ocean. The best part was the staff that went above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. We stayed for three nights before moving to a large house in West Tisbury with friends. We had the best of both worlds and we will return next summer to stay in town before moving to West Tisbury.

The owner is not honest.  Just look at the more recent reviews and you’ll see that he disappointed many many guests by canceling reservations and leaving them without accommodations or compensation 

Beware

Very very disappointed

Today 9 days before our annual summer vacation the week of 4th of July, I received an email from the “new” Hotel Ginger saying they had to cancel our reservation!! Apparently didn’t get their permits! Literally  they shouldn’t have taken reservations if it wasn’t ready to go! Mind you I made the reservation in February when they offered guests that have been coming to the Nashua House for years a opportunity to come and be the first to stay at the Hotel Ginger. Imagine my surprise that I find this out in an email and they give me the names of 3 other hotels which of course are already booked or extremely expensive! The island is basically over the top expensive to stay in a hotel in the summer with the Nashua being one of the last reasonable options on the island. My friend also got the same email. We both called the phone number which they don’t even really have a proper number with anyone that you can talk to and haven’t returned and email or call. Hoping I see my $$ refunded by tomorrow. Called the Steamship Authority and we will lose 196.00 for our ferry reservation because it’s non refundable at this point. The way I see it, they should be finding us accommodations and paying for it! So disgusted! Lori the old innkeeper would be so horrified if she heard this. She was always the most genuine, welcoming human being on the planet and when she left and they ripped apart the quaint special Nashua House I think we knew it was the end of an era, and clearly these people don’t know what they are doing! Sooo sad! I will be sure to not recommend “Hotel Ginger” especially since no one cared enough to call us in person and ruined our vacation. Deplorable lack of customer service!

The new and improved Nashua House....NOT!!!

I stayed many times at the Nashua House hotel before it became Hotel Ginger. It was one of the last holdouts of a charming, affordable, classic guest house on the Vineyard. European travelers and American budget travelers like me loved the great location, laid-back feeling and welcoming rates. Well, it's been sucked up by a hotel group following the trend for "Boutique" hotels decorated right out of the aisles of Bed Bath & Beyond and and exploited for every buck it can yield. The rates have been jacked up to three times their old rates - $350 for a king room, $200+ for a queen, not even in peak season. I'm not sure how people paying those rates are going to feel about the noise from its location across from one of the most popular bars in Oak Bluffs and above one of its busiest late-night streets, but we'll see.

It's a real shame off-island entrepreneurs can't understand what makes a place valuable. As the island loses a little more of its simple, unpretentious character every year, this is just one of the last dominoes to fall. So if you loved this place in the past, you probably won't like what it's becoming. Check out mvol.com for island-owned, simpler, old-fashioned guest houses.

WAS a sweet, affordable hotel...now a bloated and soulless "boutique"

I'm actually choked up writing this review. This WAS an amazing place to stay. I started making this my annual trip about 5 years ago. This summer I found out this would be the last summer it would be the Nashua House I knew and that Lori would no longer be greeting me every summer. The prices although not cheap were reasonable. The accommodations were amazing. I'm not sure of what the future holds for this place but from the look of things it won't ever be the same.I love the Vineyard but part of that love was based on staying here.

5 stars based on The Nashua House before being sold WITH Lori at the front desk!

With much sadness this hotel has been sold to an entrepreneur from Boston, I believe. It has closed and will never be the New England gem that it has been all these years.  It will never be affordable to us again,  who have visited for many yrs. It will never have the most wonderful caretaker of this hotel, Lori Reilly!!!!!!  The hotel as itself was absolutely wonderful, but having Lori's personality as part of the trip made it all happen. She  made the trip an exciting venture to look forward to each coming yr.!!!!!!!  I was there when the new owner was there, he did not even say  hello, nor any eye  contact  to me.  This man has a lot to learn about owning a business in a small quaint New England town! HAs a lot to learn in consumer relations !!!!!

The highlight is probably my self and anotehr were the last 2 to ever visit the Nashua House as it is.
