My friend and I arrived in the afternoon. Check in was a breeze. Nice room, comfy beds and lots of room. Nice lady checked us in. A few people hanging around outside but there wasn't a problem with them. Next morning I was out smoking when a fellow came to me wanting $10.00 for gas with a tale of loosing everything and was willing to give me a watch and a necklace, but I declined. No big deal. Breakfast was not very much, coffee and some muffins. Price was just a shade under $100.

Pretty nice place.

Scheduled a night for my 20 year old son and 18 year old girlfriend. Because they went to a concert. When my son got there the manager wouldn’t let the stay there. And wouldn’t give our money back. So they had to drive home after the concert at 4 am in the morning. Horrible customer service. He had his 15 year old sister there and her friend.

Worst experience

Don’t stay at this drama hotel.  2 night ago I saw a man in a white car with a baseball bat arguing with his woman and screaming at her saying “ Butch!” They had two young boys.  I looked at the window and he saw me. It was 3: am in the morning.  Then last night, I believe it was the same guy, was kicking and banging in my door screaming “fxck you!!!!”  At 1:30 am in the morning.   The manager confronted him and called the police.  I believe these people are regulars there and I read reviews about this Happening at the Acorn Motoe Inn. Random drug people pounding on doors and screaming profanities.  Don’t stay here. It isn’t safe.

WELL,,, it worked out,,, nicely renovated room.  others there were Noisy,,,internet was blocked for some reason,,,great bed,,,clean,,,near several fast food and dining,,,walk to Walmart,,, .Dairy Queen,,,Walgreen.

They did not let me cancel my reservation due to emergency weather conditions and charged me the full price for a service I did not get to use.
I booked a room in this hotel ahead of time because I had a meeting scheduled in the area and I live too far away to drive back home late in the night. Turns out, this hotel has a 48-hour cancel policy (not 24 hr like most of the other places). And I got "lucky". The day before my stay half of the state got snowed in, all the meetings were canceled because driving conditions were NOT safe at all. I could not do any travel like that. So I called the hotel the day before my stay and asked them to help me arrange something: refund, partial refund, move a date to a different day, didn't matter, I just wanted to make sure it's not all wasted because I still needed to go to my meetings the other day of the week, could have been nice if they let me stay there. I'm sure they were not losing business during the snow days because of ME. So they gave me a strict NO and did not even try to help me or call the manager, and they did not care that it was not safe to drive that day. I was left with a very bad impression of customer service. I am very mad: it was the worst hotel experience I've had. Please, save yourself a trouble and MONEY, and book somewhere else.

The owner is totally rude.gave me the 3rd degree about smoking in room.5 times he basically said I was a liar..I hadn't even checked In yet.!! The room was filthy.drywall patches on the walls.very unhelpful owner when asking for directions to a place that turned out to be across the street."free breakfast" was a Tupperware of 6 muffins and bad coffee.DO NOT STAY HERE.horribly rude owner.spend the extra $ to stay ANYWHERE ELSE.what a dump and uninviting jerk of an owner.

I reserved a queen size bed at this hotel a few weeks before the trip. When I got there, I was asked if I wanted to upgrade to a king bed for $10 but I said no thank you. They gave me a king bedroom anyway. It was a gorgeous room, clean, and exquisite. Close to super market, gas stations, laundromat, etc. The pricing was reasonable.

What a find!

I've stayed at this place many times over the last 5 or so years and never had an issue until last night. When I first arrived there was this one dude who was arguing with another person (an employee). The situation seemed to be getting heated so I yelled out "be cool and make a good choice." The situation diffused and that should have been my first clue to leave, but since I had never had a bad experience I just wrote it off as a mishap.

Fast forward to later in the evening (8:00ish) and different guy knocked on my door looking for the previous occupant. He was upset but it's not my problem and I quickly shut and locked the door. I shouldn't have opened the door but, luckily, I learned from that mistake. This will be helpful for the next part of my story.

It's now around 9:00ish and the dude from the argument earlier in the afternoon is intoxicated and is knocking/pounding on my door and yelling PUSSY at me through my door and threatening me. I don't open the door and call the front desk and he comes up and yells at the guy and I call the cops. The dude knocks on my door again and threatens me. I don't open the door and immediately call the cops again. I describe the individual to the cops and they talk to him and he tells them it wasn't him etc and everything is my fault. So they get him back in his room and the situation is diffused once again. I receive more knocks on my door and call the police back. The dude is eventually escorted off the property (around 11:30 p.m.).

Around midnight I get a call from someone on the hotel room phone looking for the former occupant because he wanted to buy drugs. The person on the phone said "I heard you have something good to sell." I immediately call back down to the front desk and tell him that he needs to contact the police because the former occupant must have been selling. I also tell the owner that I expect a full refund and he argues with me that no one could have possibly called my room because he would know about it and he said he would only give me a two day refund.

I barricaded my door from the inside just in case some unknown shadowy figure tried bust in thinking I was something else.

I received another call to my room at 2:11 a.m. but I did not answer it. I assume it was another individual looking for the same thing. I didn't sleep very well that night.
After checking into another hotel early the next morning I go back to the Acorn Motor Inn with my Uncle who was going to be my advocate and help me get my full refund. The owner, Gary, argues with me again saying that it was impossible for anyone to call my room because he would know about it and that he will only refund two days instead of three. I explain to him that understand the circumstances I can only accept a full three day refund. He refuses so I took the two day refund and will get the rest of the money back by contacting my credit card company.

I can no longer recommend this hotel. I don't recommend anyone stay here. I hate to post this review but I feel it's necessary since the owner is not making the situation right. I have given him opportunities to do so. I know this place has some bad reviews and I never payed attention to them because my stay was always pleasant. I know this hotel was really bad about 10 years ago until he refurbished it, but it's definitely not a safe place to stay. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money and go elsewhere until the management decides they actually want to do a good job.

It used to be a nice place to stay...but not anymore.

The hotel is nice.  The carpet could use replacing but for the price we were happy with our room.  It was quiet and dark.  Darkest room we've ever had.  That was a plus.  Close to shopping, restaurants, and a grocery store.  Laundry mat across the street.  You could walk to what ever you wanted to see or do.  Recommend.

Nice place to stay close to the city.

Our room had new carpet just installed.  Furnishings were in good shape.  Tow double beds were comfortable.  Breakfast was coffee and baldly or muffins in the lobby    Can be a bit noisy but not bad late at night    Good price    We had ground floor. No elevator.
