I have stayed here for years, it’s great. It’s not super fancy but it’s amazing for families and those w pets. I recommend if you want a close beach stay and close to everything.The review below is not accurate. The owners are elderly themselves so they do not discriminate against age so good luck lol. They are 70-80s and several elderly families stay there that I’ve seen.

Captains Cove could not have been worse! My 84 year old mother was checking in there last night 8-7-2022 and almost slipped on a wet tile floor. She lodged a complaint with the hotel owners and was promptly kicked out with no where else to go! They deemed her a “liability and refused to let her stay! Now I know my mom can be a bit cranky at 84 but to send her packing at 5pm and having to scramble to find other accommodations is unacceptable! She ended up at a different hotel several miles away from my other family that is staying on the island and had to pay $500 additional in room fees! I called and politely asked the owners to explain to me how they could be so rude and was yelled at and hung up on several times! DO NOT SUPPORT THIS HOTEL AND THESE UNFORGIVING OWNERS! I am considering a law suit for age discrimination at this point and why not I would not mind owning a hotel at the each!

If I could put a ZERO I WOULD!

We've stayed here several times.  The one caveat I would like people to know is to  never stay in Room 142.  It is next to Housekeeping and you can literally hear every word they say in there, early in the morning.  And they are LOUD.  So if you stay away from that room, you should be fine.  Be aware that all rooms are smoking and may have had pets in them in the past, if you are super-picky about that kind of thing.   People are friendly overall.

Pet friendly is the best amenity

If you are used to large, chain hotels, this might not be the place for you.  First, it is a smoking facility.  All rooms have an old school ashtray in them and all rooms smell of either stale cigarette smoke or fresh smoke.  Although they sport 2 double beds, the rooms are small and the AC in the rooms is an addition with plugs added in channels on the outside of the pine paneling.  In our room, the bathroom door was falling off the hinges and it had to be finagled to close completely.  The owners/proprietors were nice, people and the clientele were simple folks who enjoyed their stay.  The beach was a 500-yard walk down the street and was a clean and well-maintained beach.  It is ocean facing and morning walks in the sunrise gave us views of fishing boats, pelicans diving for fish, and fishermen casting from shore.

Quaint Family Establishment

My daughter and I spent three days at Captain Cove and was very satisfied with the stay!  Everyone was super nice and the place was very clean.  Was a little worried before I got there, on account of the Coronavirus, but every thing was super clean!  Carpet a little worn, but that is to be expected with all the years of guest.  Have been going there for the past 7 years and have never had a bad experience with them.  My daughter has been going twice a year for the same amount of time, and she has nothing but good memories of staying there.  Will go again next year!  Looking forward to it!

Wonderful stay!

This hotel was a piece of junk i'm not even going  to joke around. there were roaches scattered on the floor i woke up to roaches licking my @#$, eating my food ,etc. i mean do u even feed these roaches like i had a taco an took a shower and came back to find roaches in my food. so there fore i spent the rest of the night in my car with the AC running because it was hot. y'all need to do better no cap. it was badder. and the pool had dogs and roaches in it so i advise no body to swim in it

TERRIBLE

I stayed at this hotel for 1 night in the off season and would never stay there again. All rooms are smoking even if they are sold as non-smoking. The hotel has many permanent residents. The place could use a good cleaning.

stay away

This was an absolutely wonderful place to stay, the room was nice, the location was prime, and the employees were great (mostly).

I would have given this hotel a 5 star review if it weren't for a particular employee (one of the maids) was quite rude, including banging on my door at 8:00 AM waking me and my friend up asking about a room cleaning, this same maid also took up more than one space in the parking area making me park on the other side of the Motel which though is not a super large issue I believe that employees should park out back or at least in a SINGLE SPACE INSTEAD OF 2 AND A SIDEWALK!

The positive notes were the Front Desk attendant was very friendly to the point where he checked in on me and my friend several times during our stay to see if we needed anything which gave us that "right at home" feeling that is hard to find. 

My suggestions to management would be to fire the very rude maid in a green truck or at least inform them on how to park like a human being and not be rude, and to give a raise to the two attendants that were in the side office away from the pool, as they were really pleasant to interact with and made my stay comforting and completely worth while.

Definitely coming back.

I know many friends, family and strangers posting about the rudeness of the female owner of this hotel . For the past 20 yeas . Lately it’s more out of hand . From waking people and work crews up at 0300 and making them leave . To refusing families rooms because they have an infant with them .  Just yesterday a lady just checked in and they advertised WiFi   When the lady asked why WiFi not on the owner kicked them out of a room they already paid for . The actually put hands n them and pushed them out the door of the hotel room . This woman is out of control . Not to mention the dirty rooms . I hope she goes bankrupt.

Seriously unprofessional

I have stayed at the Captain's Cove Motel four times this year. The rooms were clean. The beds were comfortable. And the staff and services were great. Its a short walk to the beach and they have a beautiful pool.
This place has a vintage feel to it. Most of the rooms have knotty pine paneling and ceilings with vintage bathrooms. I love vintage so i think it is fabulous. 
If you are looking for Hilton type luxury this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for a reasonably priced, clean, pet friendly room to stay while you are enjoying the beautiful area then check it out.
