Alternative titles for this review were "Two People Who Have Found Their Calling in Life," "If You're Thinking of Opening a B&B, Come to School Here," and "Please Don't Ever Retire."

We were so glad we booked an extra night at this incredible place. I've traveled often in Britain and throughout the California coast, so I know from great B&Bs. This really sets the bar.

They upgraded us to the Captain's Suite, which has four windows overlooking the ocean and the trees. My wife is still raving about the bed, which was so comfortable that we spent hours just relaxing in it, not wishing to be anywhere else. The beds have 1000 thread-count Egyptian cotton sateen sheets. 

When we weren't relaxing and forgetting about work in the suite, we were doing the same on the back porch, where the hosts, Kurtis and Christopher, kindly brought out delicious cocktails (mocktails if you want to go alcohol-free) from 5:00 to 6:00 every day. Kurtis made macadamia-nut mai tais one day and "California Sours" (his own invention, with rye whiskey) another.

The decor was so beautiful that we wanted to buy every piece of furniture in the place. The grandfather clock, with its gleaming brass fittings, knocked us out; so did all the other beautiful wood furniture, desks, wardrobes, etc. 

We had blissful massages in the room, which struck just the right note.

When not at the B&B, we went out and had a magnificent walk along the sea cliffs, which is something you'll remember all your life if you've never been here before; and kayaked, seeing an unbelievable assortment of birds and sealife. Geoducks shooting water like fountains, and yelping sea lions demanding leavings from the fishermen (God bless them, we ate their seafood at the great restaurants in town) around the docks.

And the food! Oh, the food. It takes a lot to get us to stop sleeping on our days off, but we made a point of getting up at 9:30 for those breakfasts. You'd easily and happily have paid $50 or $60 (before drinks, though they did indeed make you mimosas one day, bloody marys the next) for these breakfasts in San Francisco. Christopher is a master. They made these pastries with blackberries, then with strawberries; poached eggs with sunchokes, artichokes, and sun-dried tomatoes; spoonbread (a kind of cornbread in a bowl) with the mild green peppers that you find in tamales; mindblowing waffles; pound-cake French toast (yep); and this fantastic sausage. 

So! This is as much as to say, this B&B is a destination in its own right. Come here and de-stress. Great work, Kurtis and Christopher! We can't say enough.

The best B&B I've ever stayed in?

Our stay was a blissfully quiet, sophisticated, tasteful and tasty getaway.  Our hosts welcomed us graciously into their work of love.  We arrived just in time to pair the beautiful sunset with Kurt's curated cocktail hour.  
Each room is unique and thoughtfully decorated.  The true stand out is their culinary and cocktail crafting creations.  We departed well fed, rested, and looking forward to a longer visit next time.

We don't usually care much for B&Bs. If something goes wrong, you don't want to hurt the owners feelings and sometimes they live on site. We are pretty private people and like our space.

The Bay Hill Mansion is the exception to everything we think of B&Bs. We were so so happy. The house is huge and each room is splendid. It is spotless, the beds ever so comfortable and the owners super nice.

They offer some of the best food, be it breakfast or brunch. They have great coffee and they know the area like the back of their hand. I was there with a friend, and can't wait to go one day with my husband. 

They also are so close to the ocean. It is just magic. Have the best time.

Beautiful.

This is a lovely house that served my needs perfectly. I wish that I had been able to enjoy it with my wife, because this B&B is best set up for couples, but I was there for business. What impressed me most is how much Kurtis and Kris went out of their way to make the stay comfortable. On one of the two nights that I stayed I had to leave early in the day for a meeting, and was unable to enjoy the sumptuous brunch that they provide. Kris volunteered to make a separate early breakfast, which both was wonderful culinarily, and kept me fueled through my meeting. I could not have been happier. Thank you Kris and Kurtis.

Lovely B&B with Fabulous Service

Th first thing that we need to say is " Thank You, Thank You to Kris and Kurtis" - two of the most gracious hosts that we have had the good fortune to encounter. Their care and attention to detail and their guests is unbeatable.
From the initial welcome/greeting through to the wonderful beds and linens... this was a gracious luxurious stay.
The pre dinner drinks and the "nightcap bar" upon return from dinner were just a lovely touch that added so much to our stay- and with a great mix of guests we certainly enjoyed each others company. 
The Breakfasts were some of the most enjoyable that we have had the pleasure to consume .
Even when the late night music was a little too loud - there were no dramas , just a friendly reminder about our neighbours :) blame the nightcap bar....

Please Please make sure that you go and visit /stay here it is truly one of the most pleasant stays you will encounter
