We stayed at the Beach Plaza hotel for a get-away weekend in room 305.  After reading the reviews, we were afraid what we were getting ourselves into.  The hotel is very old and run down but our room was clean considering.  The first thing we did when we got up to the room was check the bed sheets to make sure it was clean.  Reading the other reviews, people have commented that there were hair and stains on their bed at check in. Ours was perfectly clean with fresh linens.  The bathroom is tiny and the drains were draining slow, but there were plenty of clean towels.  The room was not dusty nor did it smell moldy, and my husband and I both have bad allergies and we didn’t have any kind of reaction staying in the room. It’s definitely not the Hilton but for the price and location, you can’t beat it. 

GREAT location!!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for the first time over Labor Day weekend. We checked in and got to our room. Bed was clean and so was the room, but the bathroom was not. The bathroom had not been touched. There were towels still on the floor, sand in the tub, wash rags on the shower rod, and who knows what on the sink. We told the front desk and were told that there was nothing they could do until morning. I told them we were not going to wait until morning to use our bathroom and that it should have been cleaned. We literally had to CLEAN THE BATHROOM OURSELVES! She gave us cleaning supplies but no gloves or anything to protect ourselves from COVID. Did not expect to start off my vacation being told we had to clean our bathroom ourselves if we wanted it clean. We talked to management in the morning and they gave us a free night. I would stay here again if it was the only option left. Other than that, I’ll be going somewhere else.

Get what you pay for.

Very disappointed.  Pictures deceiving.  Felt like we were at haunted mansion/tower of terror.  Place should in my option be condemned.  Moldy, mildew with attempt to cover up smell with air freshener .  Dirty, Hair all over the room bedsheets, towels , tub, toilet.  Would not recommend and would not stay again.  Came in town for a weekend get away with husband.

Save your money

My wife an I took a one day trip to Ocean City to relax. The Beach Plaza was not what we expected as it pertained to the room. Due to being late we did not make a fuss but was disappointed. The porch and the view was beautiful we ate dinner and lunch there. I spoke with management and the reached out and said they will work on improving and will take my detailed suggestions into account and will meet with their team. The general manager assure me this will happen and I truly believe him. I am open to try them again.

Ocean City Getaway

I stayed there with my family. 

I should have known that I was in store for a bad time when I realized there was a left over pair of woman’s bikini bottoms on the lamp shade when I walked in. I ignored it and didn’t complain cuz it’s not what I do.

Standard size rooms with two double beds. Beds are atrocious, worse than any bed I ever slept in in the military. HVAC system was constantly dripping water so carpet in room was consistently damp. 

MOLD!!! All over the bathroom. Any metal that wasn’t painted was covered in rust. Bottom of door falling apart and it takes a linebacker to shove it closed. 

Walls very thin! Had the joy of my kid waking up at 2am when the drunk 20 year olds returned and began fighting🙄.

No hot water during normal shower times. That’s right. NO HOT WATER when you want to shower. Plan your showers for off hours. 

I’ve stayed here in the past and it wasn’t as bad but it’s now clear they do zero maintenance. 

Location is the best part and only good thing for this place 

Dirty and Moldy

This was our 2nd time vacationing in Ocean City and we chose this hotel this time due to the convenient 3 bedroom suite idea. Pricing was good, but be aware that the kitchen does not have anything beyond one small pot and a few plates. So much for planning on pancakes or eggs....with no frying pan to be found, it was a bit disappointing. No mirrors in the bedrooms, only one for the bathroom. The suite could have been cleaner and the floors were very dirty. It is obvious that they only sweep or attempt to vacuum the floors. The last time the kitchen floor or the hardwood floors were really cleaned must have been years ago. Once we tried walking from our bedroom to the bathroom without shoes on, we felt how grundy the floors were.  The patio was cute with two Adirondack chairs, but the porch could have used a power blower from the dead needles fallen from trees and never cleaned up. The location was good. The lobby is extremely dark and uninviting. Maintenance had to come and fix a porch lock that was broken and he did so quickly and was very polite and friendly. Next time I will ask for an upstairs unit because the people above us were very loud and noisy with stomping around.

Disappointment

This is our 3rd year staying at this hotel in past 5 years. And it will be our last. The reason we stay here is it is a great location, on the boardwalk and close to the action, but still fairly quiet. Also we always loved the front porch. Well that aspect is ruined since there are constantly people chain smoking cigarettes out there. Nasty. This hotel is old. Hasn’t been updated in a few decades. As per usual when we went to check in our room wasn’t ready. And neither was the other ten people’s rooms that were in the lobby. There were a few customers freaking out on the front desk. We just said ok and walked around. Check in is 4:00. We checked in at 4:20, room wasn’t ready till close to 5. Kinda ridiculous, but I get it. When we finally get to our room we find that our door didn’t latch closed. Really? No one realized this? Luckily I caught the maintenance guy just before he left for the night. He came up and fixed it promptly. The reason our door doesn’t latch? Our room is crooked! It really is a safety hazard. One side of the room is three inches lower than the other. I almost fell a few times. Also because of this there is a large gap under the door so light streams in all night. The bathroom doesn’t have an exhaust fan, but a vent that seems to just lead outside. Constant hot air coming in there. Our tv doesn’t work, but I just don’t feel like having someone come up to fix it. The room seemed fairly clean although I was finding long black hair on the sheets and towels. Gross. Most of the staff here doesn’t wear their mask, and if they do it’s around their neck. For $100 a night on the boardwalk I guess this is what you come expect. We won’t be staying here again though. 

Ok if you get it for cheap and have low expectations 

What a disaster! This place is old and filthy. The room didn't have a microwave or refrigerator and the bathroom is so small you have to close the door to move in it. The water pressure is a mess and shoots everywhere. The walls are so thin we could hear everyone in the building and were up all night listening to the people above us stomping. The elevator feels like it's going to break and everything appears to have been built in the 1900's. Our view was of the rooftop and one window didn't even have  blinds. There was hair all in the bed upon check in and it wasn’t ours!  I've been staying at the beach for 40 years and never been so disappointed. I expected more from a Phillips owned property!

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in!

We booked early, and direct, into one of the beach plaza apartments (3br unit). I asked when booking, and they freely admitted that they did rent to seniors. I asked for an upper floor away from seniors. There are seniors everywhere in ocean city this week, but the Beach Plaza did a good job with us with an upper floor and another family group next door. We could hear seniors, but not to the extent that it intruded on us. 
The room was clean and comfortable. Very basic kitchen supplies, but I don’t cook on vacation so that was fine with me. Microwave, toaster, fridge, stove with oven. There is a coffee pot and coffee. There was bottled water. Ice bucket, disposable coffee cups and plastic cups. There were enough towels. Due to CoVid, there wasn’t daily housekeeping, just changing towels and trash at the door.  The shower curtain is cloth, and it leaks! Wet floor. Shower pressure good. Beds comfortable and triple sheeted. Lots of pillows. Parking on site.
All in all, a good value for what I paid. If you want the lower rates of June, you’re going to have the trade off of high school seniors.

We survived senior week just fine

Stayed at this hotel in their courtyard unit 6/8/20-6/11/20 with my teenage son. The unit was $80 a night for an efficiency, two bed unit which was much cheaper then the place we stayed the prior week. However, drastically different. 
Pros: the room was spacious, the kitchen was clean and the microwave appeared new. The location is perfect with walkout right to the beach.

Cons: First and foremost the hotel does not segregate the high school groups from families. So if peaceful sleep and relaxation after a long day at the beach is what you are looking for, don't stay here! Everytime we left our room the strong smell of marijuana was everywhere. Teenagers yelling and screaming all night long. The first night the police were called because a naked woman was laying on a bed with the curtains open and lights on. I felr bad for the young family staying next door. The second night from 12am-2am there were about 20 kids outside our room yelling. Called the front desk to complain and no answer 4 times. The third night same thing at 3am, I called the front desk again. This time they did quickly answer and sent security right away to disperse the kids, only for it to occur an hour later. You know it's bad when the mother& daughter next door asked us how much sleep did we get.
The unit needs new carpet and the tiles cleaned as it looked/felt grimy. Due to Covid you were asked to place towels outside to be replaced. People were throwing their towels outside on the ground as there were no bags to put them in. I put ours in a bag we brought. We had to call for new towels everyday as they were not automatically replaced as stated on the paper when we had the service sign out. Housekeeping was very quick to respond and very friendly.

Overall, I think some deep cleaning of the carpets and tile, keeping families separate from partying kids, and security foot patrol around property could make this hotel a nice place to stay. It's probably a good thing the grumpy clerk didn't ask how our stay was when we were checking out because she would have gotten an ear full.
