This is going to be a weird review. Obviously, I gave it 4 stars but It should have more like 3 1/2 stars, but I don’t know how else to describe it. There’s a few things wrong with this place that I would normally take off more stars for, but it’s such a break from the normal hotels we’ve stayed at that I just can’t knock it too much. I’m pretty picky when it comes to clean rooms and stuff. It was definitely clean and comfortable and if I didn’t have a senior dog and it wasn’t the hottest weekend in history, I might come back if there were no other options, at least the bed is comfortable.
 FYI- we are a married couple who were traveling with a senior dog so it’s not your typical family or couple priorities when rating a place. Since we’ve starting taking our ageing dog, (initiated by the pandemic) it’s been different.  This type of vacation rental is new to us. We usually get hotel rooms or slightly larger suites with the typical small microwave and small fridge. This place was a nice change from that.
The GOOD:
Bed- we found the bed VERY comfortable. I know mattresses are highly subjective. It’s not too soft, not too firm, it’s a little bouncy- as in if the spouse rotates you feel it. But holy heck is it comfortable! WOW! Can’t say that about too many places. Most beds are bricks.
WiFi- We had no issues with the WiFi.
Water- water was hot, plentiful and pressure was good.
Appliances (aside from washer) all seem to be in decent shape. I’m actually shocked everything still looks so good for being obviously older Kenmore appliances. Lol No joke. 
Washer and Dryer?!! Yes please. Didn’t realize it had that. I will say there is a note by the door that says to start the laundry (and dishwasher) when we leave, which I assume means the towels and sheets? A laundry basket would be nice. Even a cheap one from the dollar store. I had no idea that’s where all the hand towels and washcloths were, they were still in the dryer. 
Location- I think it’s an okay location. It’s less than a mile to the town center. Probably walkable if you don’t have a senior dog  AND the area isn’t experiencing a freak heat wave from hades like it did the weekend were there. Otherwise it was very quiet. 

The BAD:
The washer REEKS!!!  But it’s a front loader, so that's to be expected. You can see and smell the mold in the door gasket. This is gross and not cool. This is something I would have knocked off a star for, but I wasn’t expecting a washer/dryer so meh.
No A/C,  this is something that is 95% of the time it’s probably irrelevant in Washington state.  There are massive (filthy) ceiling fans that do an amazing job of circulating air and cooling the place.  They also drop very fine layers of crud and dust on everything you leave out every time there is a disturbance and it shakes. We were just there during a freak heat wave and a two plus hour power outage during the hottest part of the day so it was hard to get the place back to tolerable.  We had to go buy a fan, had we realized this- we could have brought our own. I would say every unit needs at least two separate fans, one to circulate air in the bedroom and one in the living room. Again- if not for the freak heat wave, it probably wouldn’t have been an issue.
This place is definitely an older building, the décor and appliances and such reflect that. Yeah there are a few things that were kinda  gross, I don’t think DEEP cleaning and thorough dusting are done very often. But at the same time, the place felt mostly taken care of, it would have been a lot worse, I’ve seen hotel rooms that were worse.. It’s a weird combo. The ceiling fans have enough dust you could create a Muppet. All the heating vents are covered with dust and grime. The windows are very filthy and there’s a window over the jetted tub that has some realllly questionable looking mold and mildew growing in it. The carpet has definitely seen better days, the grout is dingy. Every stained wooden surface (and there’s a lot of golden oak furniture) has that sticky feeling which is climate related. Our “porch light” was burnt out.  That sort of stuff.  

The UGLY:
The most gross thing was the state of the pots and pans. I don’t expect a set of high end cookware, But there is ABSOLUTELY no excuse for the disgusting pans that were included in the kitchen. The pans that I encountered were ancient warped non-stick pans WELL beyond safely using. I’m pretty sure a thrift store wouldn’t even sell those, they aren’t safe! I’ll be enclosing a photo. That’s shameful and gross. I didn’t pack my own because my husband said it was a basic stocked kitchen. Which a large fry pan and medium sauce pan are usually the norm. IT had that all right. EWWWWW!!!!  We chose this place because it had a full kitchen and I was going to be making our own meals with a few exceptions for take out (the joy of traveling with a dog). While we enjoy the occasional meal out, Ocean Shores itself doesn’t have anything but deep fried pub and seafood places. Nothing wrong if you like that, but we didn’t want that exclusively. We ended up having to go ALL THE WAY back to the WalMart in Aberdeen to get a cheap skillet AND saucepan AND a fan. Didn’t expect that. Very annoying. But now I have a few pans to add to my travel arsenal. 

Personal Preference: The actual building- didn’t know the room we would be in was up 3 flights of stairs So that was a SURPRISE! . Yes. THREE flights of squeaky vinyl topped stairs and railings that didn’t feel very secure, based on the deck at the back of the property (some were missing) I was justified in my feeling. Just unloading and loading the car was a chore especially in the heat. PHEW! That many stairs are too much for our senior dog so we had to carry him up and down.  
The view from the room. It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great. Even from the top floor the view is still far but you can mostly see the sunset and you can hear the waves at high tide. The cheap plastic beach Adirondack chairs are not great. Especially if you are a big tall guy like my husband. Meh…
Honestly- they need to take some inventory of the kitchen stuff. We  had the understanding it had a basic kitchen supplies and then the pans in my opinion were unusable.  Also there was food in the freezer. I can understand leaving it if it's unopened, but if it's opened, that's just gross. 

Hot Tub in the living room? This doesn't impress me and just further dates the place. There were no robes, not that I would have worn them. But it looks lame with the spot on the wall for them. The tub causes the furniture to be arranged oddly and the only window in the living room.

Pet issues-As far as grassy area to walk the dog- there was an area that was chained off and signed “No TresPooping”. But I’m pretty sure it was part of this property and the signs were abutted to the next property. I pick up after my dog but that was unclear it was just to deter rude people from adjacent properties or distinguish it from the common areas?  But I think the grass is scrubbier and sharper on a dog’s paws than normal grass. I can’t complain- it can’t be helped. But it did poke between his paws. But he’s old and arthritic. There is no designated pet waste station or area. There is a trashcan at the front of building so you can dispose of waste.

My ultimate overview. We rented the Lexington. Once you get past the very dated decor circa Grandma's house 1985.You can see this place has been taken care of at one time but a lot things are starting to show their age. At least the bed was comfortable, but there was no air movement despite the giant filthy ceiling fans so even the most comfortable bed in the world won’t matter if you are too hot to sleep. Again, I realize the freak heatwave isn't anything that can be controlled. But at the same time, a couple of floor fans wouldn't hurt.

It may or may not be a good fit- be prepared.

We stayed in the Marietta on the top floor, and loved the location and the ocean view from the deck. The kitchen had what we needed for our stay. 

We couldn't figure out how to work the fireplace, which seems to be an ongoing challenge based on other reviews. 

It would be great if the TV were upgraded so we could stream, instead of watching limited cable shows. Especially since there isn't much to do after the sun sets. 

Great location and view from the Marietta 

I booked a night for the price of $84, when I finished it charged $185. There were so many fees! Our dog sitter had to go out of town and we couldn't take her along, As it turns out my parents had a crisis and are now living with us. We couldn't have gone anyway. I tried to cancel through booking.com but they sent me to Vacasa. I tried to find a number for Judith Ann Inn but they have no website or info leading to the place itself. So I signed up with Vacasa and used the provided online form to cancel. They said thank you. Then I started getting email from Vacasa to enjoy my stay to which I replied I had cancelled. There is no number to call and I've yet to be reimbursed for even part of a booking we didn't use. I'm very displeased and out $185. I won't make that mistake again.

Impossible to deal with a real person

We reserved a unit for the nights of 26 and 27 February for my husband's 89th birthday. There is no check-in, just an email with instructions for getting past the lock box. 

Once we got past that and managed to enter the unit and get our luggage unloaded, we found the unit to be everything we had hoped. Until... we attempted to fill the jetted tub. =

The jetted tub was our primary reason for choosing the Judith Ann. We ran out of hot water with the tub maybe a fourth of the way full. We waited to let the water heater get hot again, and added to what was already in the tub. It took  another try or two before success.

We phoned the manager and her response was: "Oh, well the water heater doesn't hold enough water to fill the tub." Why advertise a jetted tub if you can't fill it?? She promised us a refund. We have only received promises, promises since then and "we'll check into it" responses. Almost two months have passed.

Don't Go For the Jetted Tub!

This was our third possibly last trip to this lovely place.  
I do love it, with its full kitchen and jacuzzi tub it’s been a fabulous Birthday and New Year for two people that aren’t party going types.  
This last year kinda sucked.  We were already tired when we got in. Thought we would have a nice rest and relax. Yikes. We aren’t sure who it was but one of the other guests “shared” their party all night long. Also when we went to fill our tub.  The water was freezing cold and that was after having only the hot going and I checked it at a quarter full because that’s usually when I turn the cold on to temper it. Sigh.  No soak for us.  This is a treat for us. It’s our one present to each other at the end of the year.  Thats all we can really afford to do. This was so disappointing and it didn’t stop there.  I missed grabbing an earring off the side table part of my Christmas present.  I contacted them and they were wonderful and agreed to mail it to me.  She did, but in a regular letter envelope.  So of course there is No earring left by the time it got to me.  I sent an email note with the photos and have gotten nothing but “crickets” at this point. I held off writing this as long as I could.  
We will be finding a new place to have our little winter getaway this year.  🙁

Birthday Weekend Saddness

We arrived several hours early but Hannah was happy to meet us and go out of her way to get us settled in early and was very welcoming.
The room was so nice we decided to stay another night and met Laura in the morning and she arranged for us to stay and not have to transfer as unit was already booked, both staff members were outstanding. I had a sore back so got extra use out of hot tub and the view was great!

Wow!  That's all we could say when we first walked into our room.  It was like staying in a luxury condo.  We were only there one night, but it would be a great place for an extended stay with the full kitchen and so much room.  One thing to bear in mind is that the bedroom of the Richmond suite has a really high window above the bed (it's basically a skylight), so if you can't sleep when it's light this might not be the best room for you.  I was glad I wasn't staying there in the summer when it starts getting light out at 5 AM.  I am all about bathtubs when I stay in hotels, and this was the best!  It's right in the main room so you can look out at the beach or, in our case, watch Star Trek from the tub!  The deck is private and has an excellent view of the sunset and moonset.  We drove through Ocean Shores the next day and were pretty sure this had to be the nicest place in town.  We would happily stay here again.  We interacted with the staff only on the phone, but they were nice and sent us the info about how to get our key via text while we were driving there and recommended a local bar to go for dinner.

Beautiful, huge room with amazing ocean views

Still here and wanted to get this out there asap; what a tremendous find. Spa tub, roomy balcony for sitting, extremely spacious apartment style boutique lodging. Plenty of in room entertainment choices and close to the beach and restaurants. The bed was comfortable. The bubbly and strawberries were perfect and the teddy bear tickled her heart. Thank you, and definitely the place we'll stay on our escapes to the central coast.

Pleasantly eloquent birthday weekend for my wife...

Great stay with my new husband. Everything was spectacular beautiful Jetted  tub right in the living room that you can look at  the beautiful beach. A lovely living room, a kitchen, a beautiful bedroom and bath. Just a fabulous place to spend a wonderful honeymoon. It was warm and cozy and everything was just over the top.Thank you for this fantastic memory.
