What a nice property on a beautiful location... the ocean is right there. Check in was a breeze..we stayed in a king room at the Inn. Very nice!! Breakfast was included in a pretty room full of windows..would love to visit in the summer. Very close to downtown...we walked to the Front Porch for dinner and drinks and the piano bar was so fun. Great little get away!

Quick getaway.

This property is in an amazing location, very close to the beach, and the local restaurants and shops, all very easily walkable.  The house overlooks the water, and is set in lovely gardens, with an outdoor patio area and garden seating.  On checking in, we were told that our room was a door directly behind us about 10 steps away from the front desk.  There is no light inside the door until you proceed down the corridor to the main part of the room.  The wardrobe area was another room accessed via an opening in the wall, and was separated from reception by a glass door covered by a curtain.   We needed a torch to find the light switch for this area. which is on the opposite wall.  The room was immaculately clean.  It was very dismal and needed to have the lights on, given that the main window is completely covered by a tree growing directly outside.  Another small window allows a view to the ocean.  This window is directly next to one of the main doors to the building and had numerous people using that door looking directly into the room overlooking the bed.   The blinds allowed through alot of light, meaning the room could not be darkened overnight as exterior lighting kept the room quite light, despite blinds being closed.  In the morning, the light from the sunrise shines directly through the blind, and into our eyes  the thin paper blind doing little to filter this out.  At bedtime we found one of the sheets was badly marked, and had to have this replaced.  The noise of someone vacuuming near front desk was clearly audible as we tried to sleep.  Breakfast offers a good selection included in the price, with the option to eat on the patio area overlooking the ocean.  However the noise from the staff preparing breakfast was quite intrusive so early in the morning.

Amazing location, badly let down by room

Terrace by the Sea is the perfect place by the sea to relax, refresh and recharge. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The Continental Breakfast offers vast selections of fresh fruit, mini-muffins, breads, cereals and yogurt. You have a nice selection to eat on the terrace on inside this lovely hotel. The staff is always available, they answer questions and responds quickly.  The weather did not allow us to use the inground pool, but it was clean and properly maintained with lots of chaise lounges.   

Refresh, recharge, relax

I didn’t have a view but room 112 in the main building was very comfortable.  Great shower.  Pleasant staff.  Very nice breakfast spread.  It’s well located short walk to the start of the Marginal Way.  Restaurants all within walking distance.  You really don’t need a car there.  The room was on the second floor so be prepared to carry up your suitcase.  Highly recommended.

Very comfortable!

The location is within walking distance of the beach. The front yard is lovely with an ocean view and lovely flowers. The rooms are okay. I would say shabby chic is a good description. There is a heated outdoor pool as well. The prices are reasonable and include breakfast in the morning and coffee and tea all day. The staff is great. Very helpful and accommodating. It’s a quick walk to a market and boutique stores. There are restaurants within walking distance as well. We stay there often and feel it’s a very good location.

Enjoyable stay at a beautiful place by the sea!

We stayed at this hotel many times in past years but this past April was our last!   We occupy several rooms in April each year for a friends retreat.  This April 2023, one of the buildings burned down.  Not one person from the hotel staff was on-site.  We were woken by another hotel guest that came running through the halls, to notify us.  We quickly made our way outside to safety.  It was an adjoining building that was completely ablaze. Friends happened to be in a nearby building and we were unaware of their safety.   Our vehicle happened to be parked close by the burning structure and as you can imagine it was totaled.  Luckily no persons were staying in the building that caught fire.  The most disturbing of this entire situation was that the emergency # that was left on the door for guests to call, lead to no contact.  Police relied on us, the guests, to tell them that the burning building was unoccupied .  The 2nd disturbing thing is that, Management NEVER acknowledged or inquired as to whether we were ok and NEVER mentioned or appologized for our loss.  This happened on the first night of our stay and the following night we were to move into the structure that was now totalled and a significant loss.  We continually confronted Management about our loss and we were told that compensation would be assured.  Then,  Management forced us, after having been so distraught from the situation to pack our belongings and moved us into a small corner room for the remainder of our stay,  instead of moving incoming guests.  In our haste to pack our belongings, we left items behind.  When we asked to get those items, the Front Staff declined our request.  The staff totally ignored what had happened and tried to cover for their negligence in this situation.  There are many options for stays in Ogunquit and Terrace by the Sea, is no longer a choice for us.  Management there is new, we felt they were inexperienced and uncaring for their guests and we worry about our safety being there.  There was slight compensation for our troubles and how we were put in distress and were advised to seek a lawyer.....this is poor business practice.  To this day, I see no information on their website with regard to the fire and condition of their property for guest booking currently.  Please use caution here!!!!

Very Poor Management

Wonderful hotel, excellent location near the beach. Everything you might need in walking distance. Beautiful view! Room was clean with comfortable beds. Thank you, Tasheka for your hospitality and smile. Highly recommend this place. Will definitely visit again.

Excellent place to enjoy

I was very disappointed with the room they gave me.  it looked as if they had created an extra room because it only had one bed, but an enclosed porch with seating for about ten people.  It also has a wood-burning fireplace which I never would have used or wanted.  It was on the first floor of the outdated "main" building near the office.  I asked to see another room, and the one I saw was even worse! Tiny with no ocean view.  I declined this room, and went back to the one they pawned off on me, and at three in the afternoon, all I could hear was creaking floors above.  I asked for a refund because there was no way I was going to stay in that dump, and the manager would not even come out to speak with me,  It was some smug girl named Cloey who went out back and then gleefully delivered the news that they would not give my money back. Never again!

An old dump

I don't know where to begin but let me admit that after staying at the Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster, I was a bit spoiled. But as always, I always like to give a fair rating to any hotel I stay at regardless of whether or not I stayed at a better hotel before. 

Lemme start here with the pros, the ocean view is spectacular. The ocean appears to be a piece of art, and the check in is very kind and friendly, and is a very short walk to the beach.

The Cons: There is only one parking space per room, and you can only park in your designated space. As we took 2 cars, we had to find a public lot to leave the other car, and then uber to the hotel. The hotel's pool was so small that we didn't even want to use it.
The Rooms: The room I stayed in, it was dated, definitely doesn't look like it has been touched by remodeling in a while which would all in all make this hotel a lot nicer. The room we had did have a loft and had a really nice-looking Samsung TV. Not sure if it was 4K but I would assume so as it is the same model of 4K tv I have at home. Unlike a bunch of the other properties here on the Ogunquit beach, as I have stayed in pretty much all of them, this hotel does not have keycards yet, still regular keys. Regular keys for us makes a kind of a bigger problem compared to other families as we were only given 2 keys at check-in and we couldn't have 4 keys. So, we had to stay together pretty much all the time if we wanted to get in and out of the room.

So, I would personally not recommend staying here until they at least renovate the rooms and put in keycard locks on their doors to make them more secure, but for the price, if you are on a budget go for it, if you can splurge a bit more, go to the Anchorage by the Sea a bit further down on Shore Road.

They misrepresented what room we would be getting by telling us we’d have a view of the sea. The view was not there. We actually overlooked a parking lot and our window view was underneath a stair well. 
Their practice after u stay there is to sign u up to come back next year. Then, any rooms not taken are generally for new guests who look at the posted brochure & get misrepresented.
When  approaching their staff they all deny that anyone told you you’d have a sea view & protect each other.  The “Assistant “ Manager is afraid of her shadow. They promised me a discount because she had the authorization. Then when she didn’t call back, I had to call repeatedly for the discount.  After several attempts, her boss denied the refund and were very indignant. 

The area is beautiful but better customer driven places to stay.

How a place is managed plays strong in where you should stay. I wouldn’t recommend them.
