During Christmas vacation we were planning to stay at the inn for one night on a little road trip. On our way to the inn something happened to us that prevented us from continuing our trip. We called and attempted to share our situation with the owner to see what could be done. We were distraught because of our situation and were concerned about loosing the money we paid for our stay.

The owner not only refused to allow us to cancel but displayed a complete lack of empathy and was completely rude. She actually hung up on us. Despite the good reviews of this inn we will not be recommending it. Disappointing to say the least.

Subpar customer service

I highly recommend this Inn!
I was in Mount Vernon for a genealogy trip, spending six blissful nights at the MV Inn. All the rooms surround an enchanting courtyard of pathways among beuatiful trees and flowers. There's bench or chair in front of each room to enjoy the oasis of comfort and joy. 

The rooms are all unique, outfitted with a comfortable bed, microwave, frig, coffee maker, shower supplies, and large screen TV. I stayed in the White Pine room. 

I loved the morning buffet and home cooked breakfast in the quaint main house; the staff were cheery and professional. The complementary glass of wine was nice at night. It's only a few blocks from "downtown" Mount Vernon. I'll definitely stay at MV Inn the next time I visit.

An Oasis of Comfort and Joy

The inn was so quaint and cozy! Definitely more on the vintage side but I loved it. It was clean and quiet. We stayed in room 40 and the books! Oh the books-what a nice touch. I stayed with my toddler son and sister in law and niece-plenty of room. The breakfast was absolutely fabulous and the courtyard was so beautiful. The only complaint I have-it was about 95 degrees in our room and no way to change the thermostat. Other than that, everything else was wonderful.

Cozy hidden gem in Mount Vernon

My husband and I came in with 2 other couples and had a great experience.  The place is just adorable with a beautiful, secluded courtyard area with room to gather together or hide away in solitude.  The staff was warm and welcoming and breakfast was great!  The rooms were very clean, nicely decorated and well stocked. We will definitely make this a stop on future journeys.

Great all around experience.

FABULOUS! We booked the private house  and 8 additional courtyard rooms for my son's wedding at nearby Beverly Mansion.  We all hung out in family groups early afternoon and late evening in the beautiful, private gardens and ate in smaller groups for a supreme, scrumptious breakfast in the stunning, historic inn. Rooms were comfortable and cozy with extras like comfy armchairs or couches and cushy beds. The house was spacious and charming for the family of 6. Everyone, including the BIL who manages a resort, raved about the lovely setting and ideal gathering spots. Just wonderful and highly recommend!

Wonderful location for large family reunions, etc!

Never been to Mount Vernon, Ohio, before, but recently traveled there for the passing of a friend. Having no clue where to stay, I did a quick internet search for lodging. There were a few hotels that came up in the area, but my eye caught quite a lovely street sign in front of The Mount Vernon Inn. Taking a closer look at the details, I was convinced that this was the right place for me. It was competitively priced with name brand hotels. I reserved a room. 

After an 11-hour, 700+ mile drive, I pulled up next to The Mount Vernon Inn sign that I found so appealing on the web.  

After a 2-night stay, I could write volumes on how much I enjoyed my stay here. The historic feel of Mount Vernon was captured in this Inn and the surrounding rooms. I said to myself, “Whoever runs this place has a real sense of beauty!” Everything was so clean, neat, and tastefully decorated.  

Every staff member that I met was pleasant and courteous. They could not have been more helpful! 

The breakfast dining room was spotless, bright and welcoming. I was particularly impressed with the made-to-order breakfast menu. The eggs tasted farm fresh and the sausage links were lean. Just how I like them. There were plenty of side items to choose from on a buffet table too: coffee, tea, bagels, jellies, fruits, cereal, etc.  

During the evening, a complimentary beer or wine was offered to the guests. Nice touch. Oh, and the homemade chocolate chip cookies were an enjoyable afternoon treat.  

The trees and bushes in the courtyard outside of the rooms were nicely decorated for the holidays. There was a beautiful wreath on every door.  

Yes, major hotels can be nice and offer comfortable accommodations too. But now I am a bit spoiled after staying at The Mount Vernon Inn.  It was more of an experience than just an overnight place to stay! 

More Than Just a Place to Stay!

We’ve been staying at the Mount Vernon Inn for many years.  Traveling can at times be the most challenging time,  but the Mt Vernon Inn never is! We call it our home way,  they always make you welcome and the lodging is the most beautiful, clean and warm.  We look forward to our next visit.

Awesome home away

Clean and welcoming stay! Great homemade breakfast was served as well as complimentary glass of wine upon arrival!! Will stay again when we return. So glad we found this place. Located right outside of downtown Mount Vernon. 10 min walk to square.

Lovely experience

We've been staying at the Mount Vernon Inn over the 4 years that our daughter has gone to Kenyon College nearby, and it's one of my favorite parts about visiting her! Everyone at the Inn is so friendly and welcoming and helpful! The rooms are charming and comfortable, the courtyard is lovely whether it's full of colorful spring flowers or fall leaves or draped in snow! We love the convenience of the delicious breakfast and finishing off the day with a glass of wine or a beer and chatting with other guests. The location is close to the fun, historic town square full of great shops and restaurants. Rooms can fill up fast, so don't wait to book! If they're booked, it's worth it to put your name on the waitlist or to call a day or two before your trip to see if they have cancellations. My sister planned a trip to visit my daughter when the Inn was fully booked. I called a couple of days before she left to see if they had any cancellations, because I felt like staying at the Mount Vernon Inn is an integral part of visiting Ohio. Luckily they did! And she loved it! She sent me loads of pictures of her room, the courtyard, the view and thanked me over and over. I'll miss the Mount Vernon Inn when my kid graduates!

This is our second time staying at the Inn. Not only are the rooms super Duper comfy and clean, you get a delicious fresh cooked breakfast and a beautiful environment. All of the staff members are really nice and accommodating.
