Out of the 3 cheap motels in that area of Troy, Budget Inn is DEFINITELY the best value for your money. The rooms are clean, the staff are friendly, the beds are confortable, and overall it's a pretty quiet place. It has a bit of a bad reputation because of it's past but the new management has cleaned it up a lot. Most of the rooms have been renovated and the ones that haven't are currently in the process of being renovated. A lot of the rooms have smart TVs too. I highly recommend this motel to anyone needing a clean confortable and safe place to stay in Troy. I will definitely stay there again next time I'm in Troy. Oh, also they have great weekly rates

Best deal in the area

With Coved winding down still no continental breakfast or even coffee. Many hotels have figured out ways to offer those and still protect guests. Linens had been cleaned put totally disgusting looking with stains. I suggest that the laundry use bleach for cleaning. Pillows sucked . Would have given 1star but the price was only $50 a night.

Just a place to sleep

Stopped in after driving 14 hours was asked if we needed smoking or non smoking. We asked for smoking then she told us nope. So I told her non smoking was fine. She told us to go someplace else there was no smoking there even though I told her I wasn’t going to smoke. Piss poor customer service the lady was rude from the beginning. Do not waste your time stopping here.

Woman was a complete b****

Out of necessity we stopped here.  This was during the pandemic.  The nightstand was filthy with drink rings and smudges.  When I used Lysol wipes on every surface I could think of they were brown after one swipe on the chair arms and tables.    No we won’t be staying here again.

The pits

This visit was out of necessity and  we were very disappointed with the quality of our room. There were holes in the bedspread and blanket of both beds. The carpet by my bed was torn and looked like a bad patch job. The staff was friendly and that is the only good thing I have to say.

Not again

We needed a room in an emergency. 102 is a non-smoking room, it was beyond reeking like an ashtray. The A/C wasn't really working, but the super rude and gruff maintenance man told me it was my imagination. Then called me later to say not to prop the door open, Well, my friends ran to the ice machine, so it was propped for a second. Chairs looked like a murder scene, surfaces had not been wiped at all.
I returned to our room 5 hours later it was still hot and stinky. At 10:40 the charming Eric called to tell me to leave, but check out wasn't until 11. There are several hotels around this section of town. I do not think this is even a safe motel at all.

What do you expect for the money?

I booked a room at the Budget Inn after deciding on a last minute trip to Dayton. The reviews weren't terrible so decided to give it a try. 1st impression wasn't great, as the first thing we saw as we drove in was a carport full of discarded mattresses.  About 10 steps from the office door was a room trash can with trash in it. Also a crushed folded in half pizza box lying beside it. The receptionist was cordial, but not exactly friendly. Then it went downhill from there.  There was an odor in the room (205) that hit us as soon as we opened the door.  The room appeared to be clean, aside from some stains on the carpet, but the odor reminded us of a dead mouse. We should have returned to the office to request a different room right then, but instead, we turned down the beds and checked out the bathroom, and everything appeared clean, so we turned on the AC, hoping the air quality would improve, and then left for the nearby Dollar General to buy a plug-in style air freshener.  Returning to the room, we discovered that the AC had shut off, leaving it very warm in the room, and still in bad need of air purification, so we plugged in the air freshener and turned in for the night. Although the AC unit was set on "hi cool" and turned to the coldest setting, the unit continued to shut off after only a few minutes of operation, and after repeated attempts to restart it, we finally gave up and turned it to the "fan" setting, in order to keep air moving, and suffered through a long, hot night.  Do the AC units operate this way in every room? The beds were not uncomfortable. The carpet did not appear to be worn, just stained, which can happen to newly installed carpet. Had the AC unit cooled the room and the room been aromatic instead of odorous, we would have been happy customers, but as it was, we awoke in foul moods after a night of "on and off" sleep, which were not improved by the poor water pressure in the shower, the miniscule, wafer-like, soap bar, or the abysmal breakfast offering, and we couldn't wait to get out of there. Granted, it's a low cost, "budget" motel, but even at $50, it was over-priced. Oh, and that trash can and pizza box? Still present when checking out. The mattresses are forgivable because hey, they must be refurbing rooms with new, right? Seems though they could have stashed them somewhere less front and center for appearances sake. Trash 10 steps from the office door that stays there all evening (possibly all day?) and throughout the night without being cleaned up speaks to management doing the bare minimum with less pride in ownership than one would hope for. If you must stay here, inspect, or at least smell, the room before you pay. One for the plus side was that the wifi actually worked quite well.

Where is that stinkin' mouse?

We chose to stay here overnight before continuing on our trip. For the price it was a good pick. Its older but adequate. Breakfast was ok and beds were a little rough but location was good and it suited our needs fine. 

Good for an overnight. 

We stayed here one night while traveling. The motel was very inexpensive, so my wife was somewhat apprehensive about its quality. It turned out to be just fine, although it is an older facility. There are good routes for a morning jog on the streets and sidewalks of Troy.
