Very rustic setting, which is nice.
The cabins need some work. Some steps have been repaired,  some are dangerous and need to be fixed.
Electrical outlets are few and poor quality.  
Beautiful view of the stars.
Pool tables shown in ads were not there. Carpets had stains and were damp also had a funky smell.
Beautiful area, will go back  but will stay somewhere else.

Nice but needs work 

Went with our large family, rented 2 of the 3 bedroom cabins and we took our dogs! The back lawn is fabulous,  so much room to hang out. New picnic tables arrived when we were there and some new lawn chairs. The cabins are rustic, clean and  have what you need for the time you are there. Can some improvements be made, sure but quiet cabins with a great property to enjoy! We loved it and had a great time!

Quiet cabins and great property!

If you are looking for a simple and rustic setting to get you back to nature, this is a great spot. Remember those old summer camp days? 

I stayed in one of the log cabins. My friend and I brought groceries up and we grilled a feast. The property has a series of various cabins rather than your standard hotel so was fun to stay in. Felt more like living in a little house than running into a front desk and sharing elevators with strangers.

After lunch we found this ultra-clear water creek. There was a beaver dam in the back (I missed out on seeing Rocky though). 

The best part was the star-gazing at night. We lit up the campfire pit and sat around, chatting up until late. 

Town is nearby, we went to an excellent diner in the morning. And a good brewery is close by as well.

Upstate getaway in a log cabin

Loved this stay, it's our third time in different seasons and the views are stunning. They have a creek on the property that we swam in. Lots of great hikes nearby. Comfy beds. Great pool. Can't wait to go again!

Great stay upstate

We've been here three times now and it never disappoints. It's the perfect and affordable hideaway from the city, close to the best trails, quirky towns, and great diners & restaurants. You get some incredible mountain views from a pasture field that is perfect for BBQing and hanging with friends or family. Bonus: there's a creek in the back you can dip in if the pool isn't up to your personal liking.  

Little timeless gem in gentrified Catskills. 

Great location for Catskill adventures. Cabin was a little tight for six men. Fireplace damper was a problem. Lacking kitchen-ware was quickly augmented. Bar and restaurant were not open at the time but would be a welcome addition. Plenty to do and see onsite in warmer weather. Will return with a smaller group.

Has promise

Took a chance traveling 3 hours with 4 teens to give them a ski weekend. The website advertised a “stay and play” package. When we checked I. And I asked about the vouchers that were to be given at check in and was told they no longer offer this!!! We are now paying double for ski passes and had to drive 30 min to get the kids an opportunity to ski at Hunter Mountain. The cabin was advertised to be able to sleep 6… at check in we were informed that the pull out couch was replaced! Now we are short sleeping arrangements for 2!!! We were offered a hotel room, at no cost, which is sufficient for sleeping. Had high hopes for a fun, relaxing weekend but ended up stressing and paying more!!!

Website very misleading


We came to Cold Spring Lodge for a relaxing weekend away in the Catskills. Their website boasts beautiful photos of cabins and grounds. The cabin we stayed in (#4) was falling apart. The carpet was torn, the couch was stained, and the walls were dirty. The shower was way too short. If you’re 4 feet and under then this is the shower for you! I’m not even going to detail how much mold was in the bathroom. Not to mention, they didn’t even provide shampoo. We stayed in October when the nighttime temperatures drop to the 20s and 30s in the Catskills. The heat in the cabin was awful and they only provide a quilt - not even comforters. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and the pillows were even worse.
Cold Spring is chock full of false advertising.
On their website it clearly states “Your lodge managers offer one complimentary leash walk or check in service for your pet if you need to be away without them for the day while you explore the region. Additional services (extra walks, feeding, etc.) will incur a small fee.”
However when inquired, we were told they no longer provide this service as “something happened with another guest’s dog.” (This service was one of our main reasons of booking here.)
Their social media accounts also state that they have a bar and restaurant. When you enter the property you’re welcomed by a sign that says “Cold Spring Lodge - Bar, Restaurant, Rooms, Cottages”
Physically the bar exists but not a soul was there to serve. It seems as if the place is not even operational. For $220/night, I am very disappointed in Cold Spring. We will never return.

Never again!!!

We have made a reservation 6 months ago from France and we were supposed to spend 6 nights at The Cold Spring Lodge and Cabins. But after one night we left the place, because it was so DIRTY.  Everything in the cabin is very used and had stains (you can't even seat on the coach). There were still piece of food in the fridge, the dishes were oily, carpet was so dirty that you couldn't walk bare foot, there were still piece of meat in the barbecue, the fans were broken... We offer to the manager to pay 3 nights and get refund for the 3 other nights, they didn't even accept the deal, witch were already fare for them. In on word : NEVER go there and be carefull with the 5/5 comments.
At least, the location was pretty, but for the same price we had finally found a great place in the same area.

MOst dirty place we had ever seen

Its very run down. It looks like someone is trying to fix it up but its very old and dilapidated. 
My husband and I frequently travel upstate for the weekend, so we're familiar with other  hotels/cottages. $220 per night +tax is  very overpriced  for this cottage. Example: Eyesore of covered up materials outside our cottage. Leaking pipes, missing mldg, broken storm door, etc.  TV that doesn't have a volume button, but it didn't matter because cottage 5 had no wifi service? 
We are not fancy people but the cottage and main lodge really need repair.
Note: zero Verizon cell service. 
On a positive note, the linens were clean and the housekeeping good.  The area has fantastic hiking.
