We were down for a class reunion and chose Grand Casino.  The people
at the front desk were very nice and our room had been recently remodeled. 
The bed was very comfortable, and we really slept well. We played very few slots, 
as I never won once in a half hour so we retired.  Our meal was excellent, and we had a good time.

The remodel looks amazing! Love love love the new TVs in the room. So much bigger and better! 

Few suggestions would be—
-  needs a chair or two in the room for the table. The bench doesn’t work well with such a small table seeing as only one person can sit on it, leaving 3 people to stand. 

- where’s the iron?! It Was weird staying at a hotel with no iron in the room lol

- TV program guide needed in the rooms, telling you what channel is what. 

- The cigarette smell is still lingering in the rooms. Maybe sprinkle some baking soda on the carpets and let them sit for a day or two before vacuuming to help get rid of the smell.

The update looks AHHHHMAAAZING

This property has been renovated since I was here last, the prices are still very reasonable.  Room was very nice, clean, and nicely decorated with a nice big TV. 
Overall the property is very nice and classy, they are still doing some construction in the lobby and main floor areas but not too disruptive. 
Nice K Cup coffee maker. Bed was comfortable. The heater/air conditioning unit was extremely noisy, we finally had to turn it off in order to get some sleep.  How a newly renovated property could have such a crappy noisy unit is beyond me. The casino is very nice and it is smoke free, as was the floor of the hotel we were on.  Overall a nice stay, they just need to update the heater/ac units and it would be great.

Overall Nice but One Big Flaw

 I have been going to this casino for twenty years. It is in a state of decay. They used to have the  best employees and even if you lost gambling the friendliness of staff made the experience a good one but that is no longer true. Good food is hard to come by the gambling is awful. and if you are a smoker get used to smoking outside in the cold Minnesota weather as they are going non smoking. Best to pass this place by..................................

The room was on the 5th floor (top) at the end of the hallway in the tower we got. Love not having anyone above us but still woke up a lot from rude people slamming doors and talking excessively loud. Where has common courtesy gone?? The room itself was clean but really old. Decor is all brown-boring! The fitted sheet was on upside down. But we still left the cleaner (Danny) a tip as he left a hand written note in the room. The pool was too cold so we were in it less than 2 minutes, but the huge hot tub was nice-and open until 1 a.m. on a Friday night! There were only a couple others in the whole room so that was relaxing. We were in there around 11pm after the Collective Soul show which was fun as well (although my husband's one beer was $9-yikes)!
The room had a fridge, microwave and coffee maker but we didn't use any of them. View was if the hotel entrance/valet area. Shower head was awful no matter the setting, glad to see they are remodeling in September! Bed and pillows super soft so you won't like if you're a firm bed/pillow person. We would only stay here again for another concert as it was very expensive and we very rarely gamble, but it was fine for this event. Employees for the hotel were all quite nice. 

One night concert stay

I was to meet a girlfriend at the casino on the way to the cabin on Friday 5/5/2023.
I read and hear from others on what goes on all around this casino, I put that on back page and wanted to have fun with my girlfriend I haven't seen in years. As I'm driving to the casino, all I see is trashy houses, boarded up w/ hoarders galore. As I get closer, I'm thinking this isn't a good idea and just had BAD VIBES. 
I waited for 45 minutes in the parking lot for my girlfriend coming from the other side of the cities. 
As my anxiety was getting higher, we decided to go into more into Brainerd.
Not a good feeling at this casino.
from South Dakota Casino's to Minnesota and Wisconsin - this is far the worst of them all.
then driving towards Brainerd, along the lake.
Despicable and so trashy.
Too much money going for the wrong ideas!
I think ill stick to the east side of the lake!

Please note:  not a casino connoisseur or regular gambler.  Being here was a last minute, what the heck decision.  An impromptu stop on way up north to check out some dark skies.  
Price point for basic room cheaper than other casinos and on par with other standard hotels.  Room was clean, bed comfortable, pillow excellent, as was Wi-Fi. Oh, and hubby mentions the ginormous towels as a plus.  Did not go swimming but pool is also ginormous - bring your suit.  
Ate at the 1991 restaurant in house and again, ginormous portions.  Hint:  order one dish and split.  Lighting is a bit intense at tables - ask or wait for a booth.  Another reviewer mentioned prices being high.  My goodness where do they eat out?  This same meal in the twin cities (soup, salad, and sandwich) is half the amount for 10-20 dollars more.
Bathrooms in casinos very clean, appreciate the needle disposal sites although hubby was disturbed.  That's the difference in being in health care versus not I suppose.
Didn't gamble much but did hit the second slot machine for 70.00 which paid for gas up to Itasca and back.  
So overall, yes, would come again.



Would Return

Good times! Good food.  Nothing to write home about with the blah room, but it was clean and a decent bed.  I felt it was slightly over-priced and pricing was consistent with all sites I checked.  Use the site that offers the best bonus points or rebates.

It was nice and clean, but the room was blah.

My 2-night hotel stay was underwhelming. The room decor is dated, with stained carpets and stained wallpaper. The wi-fi is unreliable and I kept getting disconnected. The fluffy pillows were the only redeeming quality in the room. B3 and the buffet were the only good food options, though they have been closed for at least a year. The remaining options are 1991 Kitchen or Plums. 1991 Kitchen serves over-priced diner food without the ambiance or greasy spoon feel of a diner. Imagine Perkins, yet worse. Plums is the "24/7" grill which doesn't serve hot food 24/7. This is the place to go, if you like slow, unfriendly, service and mediocre food. Their food has been sub-par for years and I try to avoid eating there. I decided to give Plums another try on this trip, and I was (once again) disappointed. They no longer serve LTO (lettuce, tomato, onion) with their burgers. I watched the poor cashier apologize for this repeatedly, as I waited for my order. My $11 burger was a thin burger patty with a single piece of American cheese, on an under toasted bun. Perhaps they could afford to offer LTO if they didn't give everyone 10 ketchup packets with each take-out order. Until B3 reopens, I will make the drive to the McDonalds in Garrison to get a decent meal.

Plan ahead if you're staying in the hotel and want to eat during your stay!

Good stay - little pricey for a casino.  The check-in girl was very, let's say she didn't look like she enjoyed her job.   But other staff-check out person, wait staff, rewards staff - were all very customer oriented.  Hotel rooms were clean and big. 

The 1991 restaurant was wonderful.  Food was delicious and wait staff was considerate.  We ate there for dinner and breakfast.  Generous portions.

Movie theater is walking distance away - if you want to do something other than gamble.  There's also a small grocery store next to the movie theater.
