Would avoid 
Location is alright. Very budget motel.
The guy that is probably the owner is not nice and it's due almost entirely due to him that I am writing this review. He's horrible. 
I would avoid this place and sister motel, Four winds even more.

Avoid

I cannot speak poorly enough about this business. 

The whole operation is run by tweaky, rude, incompetent and generally dishonest individuals.  

Do not expect nice accommodations or customer service here. 

Management cares about the dollar and turning over rooms as quickly as they can. Nothing else. Profit over people. No service. No smiles. 

ZERO quality of stay all the way around. 

The male maid is excessively intimidating and abrasive, yells at people..and on numerous occasions genuinely scared both myself and friends I had visiting. 

The police are at this business quite frequently due to the types of people they allow to book rooms. Less than savory folks to say the least. 

I did not feel safe at night by any measure. This caused me to have a a hard time getting any good rest while on the property. Not to mention the noise from other guests. Paper thin walls. 

After what I experienced , I would not let my dog stay at Summer Wind even if the owner converted it into a doggie day care AND hired new management! 

Unless you are a fan of drugs, drama, domestic violence and disrespect...steer clear of Summer Wind Budget Motel!

Two Thumbs Down

I was greeted warmly and very respectful.  The rooms were clean and attractive. I was told not to hesitate to call if I needed anything. Location was within walking distance 1 to 1.5 miles ( at least for me😉) to restaurants and pier.  Everyone here was quiet and polite.  I recommend Summer Winds unless you are looking for luxury. Then go pay $300 a night somewhere else😘.

Great motel on a budget price

We were fortunate that the temperatures were cooler the night that we were in Newport.  We found our room comfortable but we were happy that we carry a small fan with us in the event of accommodations that do not have air conditioning.  The room was clean.  The bath/shower adequate with clean towels.  The staff was friendly.  Our room was in the annex which was across the street from the main motel. We slept very well with no noise.    There was no breakfast offered with this reservation.   We would stay here again.  The price was right.

Good Price for High Season

Our daughter booked a room online a few days in advance of her trip. Drove 4 hours. Arrived at 1:00. When she checked in she was informed her room was not ready and to come back in an hour. When she returned she was told they would not take cash.  She offered her debt card. He was very rude and told her they were booked. No doubt this was due to a heat wave of 107 in town and he got more for her room. No vacancies anywhere along the coast. Our daughter and grandson had to go back home. Never stay here.

Day 4 - We left Cresent City Ca and tried to find a place to stay for the night in Newport OR. With triple digits from Seattle to the Mexican Border and most folk inland in Oregon do not have AC at home so they headed to the coast to cool off. Rooms were filling fast. We finally found this place so we grabbed it but if you have a choice DO NOT STAY HERE! WEAR YOUR CLOTHS WHILE YOU SLEEP! Shower did not work. Bucket of cigarette buts outside caught fire for some reason. Thank God I smelt it and put it out with water. No breakfast or coffee.

The owner/ manager is very disrespectful. We had just opened the door to our room when we got a call from the manager accusing us of having 3 dogs not 2. We tried to tell him we did not have 3 dogs but he was very rude and wouldn't hardly let us talk. We went to the office to try and resolve the matter while I was on the phone trying to find another place to stay because I wasn't staying at a place where we were being accused and where the manager is watching us while we enter our room especially with 2 kid's. He was arguing still and put his finger in my moms face and yelled at her and was extremely disrespectful and I told him not to speak to my mother that way. He then took my mom's credit card and voided the transaction and kicked us out. I didn't care I wasn't comfortable staying there anyway. After leaving we called the credit card co and the money had not been put back on the card. We called the co and had to do a 3 way call with the manager to get the money back immediately. He refused to give them his full name then refused to give them the merchant num off the recipt to refund our money. We had the copy of the recipt with the num on it and got it cleared up with much resistance from the manager. With all the bad reviews I have read in surprised this place is still in business.

NEVER stay here

Seriously.  Don't stay here.  It looks okay from the outside but inside?

No towels, no wifi, no maintenance, and it appears there are no cleaning staff either.  

The dude at the front desk was a troglodyte who recommended Sizzler for sea food and when I asked for the Wi-Fi password he was rude and said, "Wi-Fi is down.  I will call you when it's up."

One word sums up this place; ick.

Don't stay here.

We stayed here June 2014. We brought our own linens and pillows because it's the cheapest motel in town, so we didn't expect much. I was pleased that the linens were fresh and clean and the bed was comfortable. The door however, appeared to have been kicked in before, but adjustments were made to make it secure. The TV was old and very grainy. But the worst part of it was that my husband got shocked when he came in contact with the platform supporting the TV. It was so strong that it literally knocked him down. The bathtub had a lot of soap scum. It hadn't been cleaned for a while. We only got 2 bath towels. No hand towels, no wash cloth. I brought my own shampoo which was good because there weren't any provided. The 2 mirrors needed to be cleaned. There were streaks and spray splatters. The bath rug had brown stains on them. There was also a brown spot on the bathroom floor and I wasn't sure what it was so I simply avoided it. We stayed for 2 nights but no one came around to at least collect the garbage and see if we needed anything. We knew that it was the cheapest motel in town and we didn't expect much but I think with just a little bit of effort and caring from the proprietor, this could be made much better without costing much.
