We went too late in the year- the dining room was closed for the season- darn! It closed in the middle of Sept. apparently. So there were limited options to eat & drink ( candy, chips, buns, coffee, water, beer)  & we weren’t prepared for that.
  The room was nice, a private small deck, comfortable bed.
Small Issue of the sheets not fitting the mattress well, slipping off the corners.
Also no internet available except in the clubhouse. 
Good coffee pot, refrigerator, tv, towels, shower, quiet. 
  Very friendly and helpful staff! 
We’ll definitely go again!

Our second stay & definitely not our last stay- enjoyable!

Let me tell you something about this place.. I got hired on Aug  28 and started the 1st of September. I have a learning disability called Fragile X Syndrome and told the GM Stephania the day she hired me. I worked every day for her and came in on days off to help. She kept me until she got back from vacation and how I knew something was up she deleted me from our group chat. I had to go there to find out I was fired!! I had 4 days at most for training and needed more. I made some mistakes that were NOT told to me until I went there to find out I was fired!! Not a professional way to handle the situation at all!! I would never stay there cause it took them 3 days to clean a room with bed bugs!! Really 3 days!!

I worked there

My wife and I were very disappointed and left within 10 minutes of getting to our room. We respectfully went through proper channels to request a refund and was denied because management deemed it cosmetic. So please stay here at your own risk. I have photo proof of everything, and will be using my resources to follow up with a few other state and local entities in regards to the safety concerns. Below is a list of issues found, 1 thing was would be classified as cosmetic.
1. Smoke detector not functional and battery out.
2. Phone didn't work.
3. Bed was dirty, mattress had stains and no mattress cover.
4. The freezer had standing water inside.
5. The dust / carpet smelling like wet dog was very bad and was causing my wife breathing issues.
6. The bathroom mirror was unsafe(top of mirror needs new clip)
7. The door stop was broken on the wall.
8. Possible mildew/mold on window ledge.

Very Disappointed with Room and Management Decision

Upon arrival was given key card, room took an actual key. Maid had gone home with it so instead of putting us in a different room we waited. Staff apparently thought it was funny but didnt offer anything as we waited. Husband was let in but we couldn't leave or go in and out without being able to get back in to our stuff.It was 4:30- check in at 3pm- be prepared.  Room had two full beds, paid for two queen beds. Phone to call lobby didn't work in room, just for looks, and no phone signal without wifi code,(that was on key card I had given back thi king it would just be a few minutes flr a key..  Room beds were uncomfortable and old mattress/no mattress pads, crappy pillows. Room had hangers for clothes above microwave and fridge, super inefficient, and fridge (that was super loud all night) wasn't that cold, two of the same portrait for decor, - weird-and a huge desk crammed in room. 
 Bath light that can only be described as something out of horror movie that could give someone a seizure. Sandy area out front has trash and cigarette butts everywhere and tables are peeling and falling apart. Pool was open till midnight but we quickly left after people vaping and being loud with an unhappy newborn in pool area at 11:00pm. This was the only place available or we would of left after trying to check in.

Unorganized, flighty staff, mediocre stay.

If I could give this hotel 0 stars I would.  We reserved a room, got there after 3 hours of driving only to have hotel front desk staff tell us our reservation had been cancelled by a manager.  We never received any phone call, email or notification of any kind.  Worst customer service of any hotel I’ve ever been to.  Luckily the Blue Horizon Resort had a cabin available and were super friendly and helpful.  If you’re staying in Oscoda I would 100% recommend Blue Horizon over this place.

Worst customer service experience at any hotel I’ve ever been to.

We were booking a last-minute trip to Oscoda and were hoping to stay at the AmericInn, but they were booked, so that's why we ended up here. We spent a whole half an hour in the lobby waiting to check in. Several people in front of us had reservations that weren't showing up in the system. At least our own check-in didn't have any issues.

The next problem was when we were leaving our room, the deadbolt popped out and really didn't want to go back in. We eventually got it to retract, but this happened another time. In addition, the hotel seems to have a major issue with key cards. Mine failed twice during our overnight stay and had to be re-programmed. My husband's failed once, and we happened to come across two other people with the same problem.

Check-out also took longer than necessary. Their computer system kept shutting down when the desk clerk was trying to print my receipt.

In general the property looks old and run-down. There is nothing at all inviting about it. And the price was over twice as high as the value we received.

Avoid at all costs

My family as a whole has been coming here for 19 years. This is the last time I will ever pull into this place again.  My 1st room was absolutely disgusting. There was pop or something sticky all over the TV screen, food on the lamp base, dust thick enough I wrote "hello" and the smell of mildew was overwhelming we walked out. So we got another room that we thought would be better.  To get into the new room the door sticks so you have to use your shoulder and ram it several times to open it. Food on the outside of the mini fridge and some kind of dirt and food finger marks on the bed sheets so we had to get another set of sheets. We also has to spray cologne in the heating/air unit because it smelled like burning plastic.
 Not one time upon check in was we told that the hot tub wasn't working correctly, the spa was locked up and the floor grate in the hot tub was off.  My husband went to look for someone to turn on the jets after I went into the hot tub.  Nothing was happening but a small tricle of air coming out that barely was moving any water. The water was lukewarm at best not far off of the temp of the pool. I noticed the floor grate was off leaving a huge opening in the floor. This seriously could easily break someone's ankle if they wasn't playing attention when entering down on the left side of the stairs. 
At this point I went to the front desk to ask what was going on. With paying almost $200 a night for 2 double beds, I expected more for my money. I was told it (hot tub) has been broken since September 2021 and they couldn't get the part to fix the hot tub. I also inform the desk clerk about the problems with the room door. And since the ice machine was broken was there a way to get some ice? Ahhh.. no. This was all within less than 2 hrs of checking in. Unfortunately for us we was 2 hrs from home and everything within 60 miles was booked.  But lucky for us, the manager should be in sometime tomorrow.  Not one time was the desk clerk surprised about anything I said or the other people complaining as well. Not even an offer of a discount or refund if we checked right back out.
This is the worst stay my family has experienced here and I personally would rather sleep in my car.

Absolutely disgusting! Do not stop at any point here!

Wonderful friendly staff. Clean rooms and, right on the beach. Still serving a light breakfast, others are doing grab and go bags. Pet friendly too. Will definitely be staying here again in the near future.

Great hotel on the lake

We booked this believing it was a simple motel near the beach, but were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to a small hotel. Everything was clean and beautiful. The decor was befitting of a decent hotel, and the location was beautiful. The continental breakfast wasn't incredibly impressive, but much better than most places are offering these days (if at all). It was also the best price we could find for any availability in town, so that was great too. We'd definitely stay again if returning to Oscoda.

Better than expected!

We spent a few days at Oscoda Lakeside Hotel, and we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is under new management, and the new owners were cleaning, painting and fixing everything up. It was much nicer, and felt safer than it did a year ago. Our room was clean, it had a hot tub, and it was reasonably priced. We will be back!
