Overall, a very pleasant stay at the San Juan Chalet. Communication was good and our room was ready when we arrived.  Room 2 upstairs is exactly as pictured on the webpage, nice and roomy.  Bathroom is smaller, especially the vanity area, not a lot of surface area for makeup, etc, but I pulled up a side table for everything I needed to get ready to attend our friend's wedding.   Bed was comfortable;  could hear a few outside noises occasionally, but nothing major.  Location was great for shopping and dining, and still close to the great outdoors, with a couple deer strolling down the street, and close to hiking.

Nice 3-night stay

Both the San Juan Chalet and the town of ouray were great! We stayed in the cabin for a couple of nights - great place to stay if you’re working remotely. Full kitchen (no dishwasher though), desk, living room, and comfortable bedroom. We also spent a night in the downstairs hotel room - it looked recently renovated, and it has a microwave and fridge, making it easy to do take out. The owners were friendly. I forgot my kindle, and they mailed it to me. Our dog loved it too!

Great hotel!

My wife, dog and I had a great escape for three nights at the Chalet.  The room is private with a small courtyard where we were able to have light meals on a private deck.  There's a great hike around town easily accessible from the Chalet. 

Quiet Sanctuary in Colorado Mountain Town

I highly recommend this place.  San Juan Chalet has friendly, accommodating, communicative, and responsive staff.  Seriously, they respond within seconds. Our room was clean, cozy (comfy bed), and well stocked.  It had everything necessary including black out curtains, window covers, a porch, a grill, and picnic table.  It is located in downtown Ouray where you can hear the river. We stayed here because it is 10 minutes (or less) from Ridgway for the Blue Lakes trail (thereafter taking about 40 min on county/Forrest roads but nothing harrowing) and Orvis lithium hot springs to heal the muscles afterward.  If you don’t feel like going anywhere, there’s so much to do in town just a walk away from the chalet. This company does climbing excursions as well I believe.  They really have thought of everything. It’s a place to relax and feels like staying with family or friends. Terrific experience!  It’s no wonder they book up so fast.  I wish we had stayed longer because it’s the best sleep I’ve had.

I spent a week sharing the "cabin" with a colleague working in the mountains around town and we both agreed this was a cosy,  comfortable and well located spot to base out of in Ouray. The King bed and the rustic futon were very comfortable.  We appreciated having the kitchenette to prepare our own meals sometimes but you are also just an easy walk from excellent dining options.  In fact you are an easy walk from anywhere in town. From the hot springs to the ice park you can reach it all on foot from this central but quiet location. Dealing with Ryan was breeze and I would certainly recommend this place for individuals, couples or families.

Outstanding Value! Cosy, comfortable and super centrally located.

Only three rooms on the property, so it seems they have plenty of time to give the rooms careful attention when cleaning and such. Room appeared to be recently renovated, granite countertops throughout, and the bed was the most comfortable I've probably ever slept on, besides my own at home. They are very dog friendly, and there's a pet fee of $15 per night. 

I picked this place because it was one of the cheapest places I could find in Ouray, but was very surprised at how nice it was. I would absolutely stay here again. 

Very clean and comfortable

Ryan, the proprietor, and the caretakers Cameron and Linda made our trip even better in Ouray.  The location of the rental was very close to Main Street and the room was simply lovely.  

They understand what very few smaller hotels understand - you need to have a very comfy bed.

They have the most comfy bed in the Ouray valley.  A horrible bed ruins a trip.  This place has the best bed of any rental I've ever used in the past.  

Be smart, save your back, and ensure you have the trip you deserve to have by renting from them.

Amazing Retreat in Ouray - Most Comfy King Bed in Ouray

This is a nice little place. I recently spent 3 nights here while attending an ice climbing course in Ouray. The San Juan Chalet is conveniently located on 6th Ave and is within easy walking to ALL of Ouray. Literally it is 8 minutes walk to the furthest bar/restaurant. Yes, its that small. The owner is a nice gentleman who, on the last morning, when I was trying to leave, helped me dig my rental vehicle out of the snow... then the neighbors helped push me to the road. Amazing people...
The rooms are spacious, offer a small refrigerator, coffee maker, TV with Dish TV service.
I would recommend this place and will stay here again!
