Tried calling to check on availability. Kept getting a recording that "Your call cannot be completed as dialed." I emailed them at the address shown on their website and received a reply, "we are closed business."

Too bad, this had been my late parent's favorite place, and had akways wanted to stay there.

We stayed for two nights. My mom and two Aunties. We stayed at Cabin 1, which is surrounded  by trees and with breath taking ocean view. Enjoyed the ocean view and the smell of fresh air in the morning in our deck where we stayed. We will definitely coming back. Cabin is complete with everything you need. Room was fully sanitized. 

Fresh Ocean Morning Air

My family and I went out for my nieces birthday to enjoy. My family and I are extremely disappointed with the way we were treated and with the rooms. This is our third time staying there and our last.By the time we arrived to the resort  our room was not ready. Once we did get a room after 3 hours waiting the room didn’t have toilet paper nor towels. The room smelled weird and it was really humid. The beds are really small. It is not a regular Queen size bed. The control was not working. We went to the Lobby to let them know and they were rude. It’s suppose to be a family friendly hotel & it is not. It felt like I was staying at a cheap over prices Motel. There is  an American Male “manager” with long hair who is extremely rude and very sarcastic. I am not sure if management changed or what but this place was not like this before COVID.

Extremely Disappointed:

First, the view cannot be beat.  The buildings were probably built in the 1960's, but the room we had has been updated and was in very good condition.  The stove and refrigerator were quite new.  The mattresses seemed new also.

The biggest problem is the water, but if you pick up a case of water at a Costco before heading here, you should have no problems.  We intend to return some day.

I think it is a good value

A great view does not make up for everything else. 1st clue that this hotel was terrible: : the water is not recommended for drinking, but we have bottled water. Cool, but you have to pay for it. 2nd when we walked into Unit 3 the whole space was leaning to the right. If you put a ball on the floor it would roll without assistance. 3rd there was no heat in the front room. When I reported it, they brought in a portable space heater. 4th, the beds were rock hard, no extra blankets, and thin blankets on the bed. Staff is nice. A $130 room was $200 after all the extra fees. We ended up driving home vs staying a night in this place.

House of Fun-Stay away from Unit 2/3

Magnificent ocean view.... Period!  What a dump!  Our room was old and smelled.  The bed was hard and uncomfortable.  Forget about taking a shower... the water hardly came out of the showerhead!  Dogs everywhere urinating and defecating in the same grassy area where children played!  Needles to say, we will never stay at the Sandpiper again!

Be very careful manager does not honor reservations changes confirmed reservations to downgrade then to limited views with non working facilities such as toilet and shower.   The location is good but it is not worth the hassle to deal with unclean rooms and most of all deal with games the management plays with your confirmed room reservations.

Anyone remember the Weatherly Inn at Ocean Shores? The Sandpiper Beach Resort reminded me of that homey hotel, little apartment-like rooms with a fireplace and dog-friendly. The main difference is The Sandpiper has private balconies with charming rockers and an unparalleled view of the ocean.  And there are absolutely no "Ground floor only" restrictions for  folks travelling with their fur-babies . This is the only hotel we have been able to relax and enjoy a one of a kind view of the ocean from our room. Usually relegated to dune-view because we travel with the pups. Tip: if possible, get a room on the 3rd floor, the hotel is built next to a hillside and the 3rd floor rooms are the quickest, easiest walk from parking area to room , handy knowledge if your lugging a loaded ice-chest to stock your apartment sized fridge.  Also it's a private beach. Amazing.  The owner is very personable and pleasant. She has a nice gift shop/mini store for things you may have forgotten.

After reading all of the negative reviews and almost not booking here, I'd like to leave my honest opinion of Sandpiper to help those who are are on the fence.
Let's start with booking. The phone systems are terrible and were messed up when we booked therefore, I waited over an hour to get through but once I did the staff was very helpful and nice. Once we arrived on Friday, the check in process was easy and the staff was very friendly. If you go on a weekend or during busy time, you can expect to wait outside until called in and this is due to Covid and social distancing.  We booked a 2 bedroom and had a beachfront view. The room was clean but like other reviews say, they are older. We had fresh wash rags and towels. Only bar soap though so you will need to bring your own toiletries.  Kitchen had a few dishes along with pots and pans.  Beds are ok. Not the most comfortable but I didnt expect temperpedic.  The resort furnishes beach towels which was nice. The amenities such as the pools with water slides, lazy river and hot tub are again older but seemed clean. The tiki bar area was nice with affordable drink prices. The resort itself is fine for what it is. It's some of the people you have to worry about. The weed smoking was a very popular thing here and we could smell it several times a day. We could care less however, we had a pregnant woman and 3 toddlers in our group and the room beside of us was smoking it so much that the smell was coming over to our room and it was unbearable for some. We went to the front desk and complained just to see if they would ask them not smoke it in the room because of our kids. The manager was very polite, took time to listen and immediately took care of the problem. In conclusion and our overall experience,  Sandpiper is great for the price.  If you want modern or the extra amenities,  then I would look into staying at other resorts.  If you are ok with basic but still want to have a good time and not spend a fortune then this place is perfect.

An honest and complete review

We stay here 2 to 3 times a year for multiple weeks. Lovely staff, great beach walking, relaxing. And feeling like we are a world away from everything else. Wonderful gift and coffee shop. We bring a couple weeks worth of food, books, mp3 player, board games and just relax. Right on ocean. Jim heitzman
