I've stayed here twice now and each time has been amazing. The workers are extremely kind and always helpful with anything you need. There is a hiking trail with a beautiful view behind the cabins and the breakfast is great! Will definitely be staying here again!

Amazing Cabins and kind workers!

The room was clean and the staff very helpful and responsive to my requests. I’d stay here again without a doubt. Breakfast was hot and tasty. Good amenities in the room; microwave and fridge. Quiet spot.

Comfortable Hotel

High Country Lodge was very nice, we had a great 3 night stay while in Pagosa looking for a home.  Bill at the front desk is so nice and helped me when we booked a BAD hotel in town.  He got me a room for the last 3 nights of our 4 night stay at the High Country Lodge.  The rooms are typical hotel rooms that could be updated with new bedspreads etc but were clean and comfortable.  Breakfast is a hot breakfast served by staff which is a very nice touch.  Our coffee pot didn't work--could have used more accessible coffee in the mornings but everyone was very friendly and the location is great.  Saw deer right outside while sitting on the benches enjoying the Colorado weather.  Thank you for a nice stay!

Great place to stay

This place exceeded every expectation, and put all other motels, nay, even hotels and resorts, to shame!

The service was amicable and politely casual. You always felt like you were chatting with friends. Additionally, everyone I spoke to was very knowledgeable of the area and proud to help me navigate it, whether that be for food recommendations or hiking trails.

The rooms were kept immaculate, not to mention the décor was phenomenal all throughout. Large tapestries of mountain wildlife adorn the halls of the lobby, and paintings and photographs of beautiful wild stallions hung in our room. The entire main building was this beautiful log cabin architecture, which really gave it a homey and comfortable feeling. 

Being right off the main road, you are very close to everything to do in and out of town, but if you don't feel like going anywhere, a pond less than 50ft from the main house offers pretty decent fishing. Not to mention, the stargazing at night is incredible.

I only got to stay for one night, but I wish it could have been a whole week. If I'm ever back in Pagosa, I will definitely return.

Best Motel Ever

Only 2.5 miles from town makes this a great location.  Rooms are somewhat dated but clean with newer furniture and carpet.  Wonderful breakfast, beautiful grounds and very helpful staff.  I’d stay here again if I go back.

Great Value and Location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at High Country Lodge. Was concerned that we were a few miles from town, but it turned out to be a great little spot for us. Room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Bill was very accommodating and they made sure to offer as many amenities as they could with the hot tub, the bar for drinks, and a decent breakfast in the morning. Would definitely stay here again. 

Great little roadside Lodge

The owners and managers have thought of many unique ways to improve your stay. Examples: white noise generators to compensate for the Highway noise (which wasn’t as bad as I had feared anyway), offer of a phone number to call as well as a room number to knock on in case of after hours emergencies; a work around to allow full breakfast service which complies with COVID protocol, a trail up the hill behind the buildings; individual hot tubs (with a lovely view), and other small touches which make a fairly ordinary motel feel like a special experience. I will be back for a longer stay. But I will bring pillows from home because these pillows were super hard.

Thoughtful approach to customer service

My 4 friends and I stayed here for a night on our way home from Ride the Rockies. The large room was quiet (despite the roadside location)  and the beds comfortable.  We especially appreciated the delicious breakfast with eggs, sausage, blueberry pancakes and watermelon that we ate out back on a lovely patio.

Great location and yummy breakfast

My mom and I enjoyed our four day stay, the end of April,  in one of the quaint and cozy cabins and it was delightful.  The beds were comfortable and clean.  The kitchenette had everything we needed.  We even had a warm, inviting wood burning fireplace.  Beautiful picturesque setting surrounded by mountains. 
The staff was great, they treated us like family.  They took care of our every need.   We are already planning our next visit in the Fall.

Cozy Cabin

We rented the Bunker house for 2nights. The Staff members were extremely nice and helpful! This place was so beautiful. The Gazebo was a great place to grill while watching our kids play at the playground. We got rained on but our Bunker was big enough for our whole family to fit under our porch to eat and continue our celebration!
