This unit has not been maintained at all! The room was dirty, mold on ceiling above shower, gooey, black grime on inside shower door and sewer smell when going inside room. One of the bed frames is broken. We were shocked at how dirty the room was when we entered. It appeared that someone “attempted” to clean, but it was pretty bad. This was my first & last time renting at Top of the Gulf! I’ve heard other units are much better, so make sure you rest directly from an owner!

STAY AWAY FROM UNIT 614

We were less than satisfied with Top of The Gulf Rm 316. There was one elevator that worked, The floor was absolutely filthy, The ac thermostat reboots every hour or so making the unit shutoff and restart, The frat room refrigerator that wouldn't keep the few groceries we could fit in it cool much less cold. The doors and door frames were filthy and stained. The toilet seat was stained yellow and paint on bathroom walls was bubbling. Wall inside foyer busted where the door has no stop. The curtains were off track. It was one of, if not the worst stay anywhere we have stayed.


Avoid Room 316 Nothing But Problems 

Terrible vacation experience because of the hotel management and how our family was treated. I expected a better service and accommodations/exceptions from Vacasa Property manager agents. We have little kids (who were ages 4-9yrs). We drove all day (more than 12hrs) to the hotel with kids, tired, exhausted for our one time in two year vacation. We arrived at 9pm. We were stopped at the security check-in because we were honest of the amount kids and apparently we had more than the limit at the room. We would not book this room if it did not have enough beds for our family (the room had 2 queen beds and 2 bunkbeds -which can totally fit our family). The email confirmation said nothing about- “children UNDER 18yrs are considered as adults” as some hotels say. Security guard called his boss/manager, and i called Vacasa and spoke to Maurice- he said he will do his best to accommodate for this issue and see if there could be an exception and would not want us to keep us outside. Had me on hold for a while. Then said he is still waiting for an answer from management and will call back in 5min.-But, he never called back. Our family sitting at the parking lot waiting for an answer. I called again, spoke to a lady, she said the same thing and placed me on hold. Later said she will call back in about 5-10min. - she never called back. We were stuck in limbo if we should get a different hotel or if this will be resolved and we’ll be accommodated. We were willing to pay additional so they can accommodate us but nothing was done. The security guard said that he received a text from owners management (i have his screenshot) that they spoke to manager of property management and they WON’T accommodate us with another room (they could of but didnt want to) and that we were refunded. (This was a lie, nothing was refunded to us). After 3 hours stranded on the parking lot calling and waiting in the dark we decided to book a hotel so at least we can get some rest. I called next morning hoping to resolve our issue and go back to the hotel that we initially reserved, however, i found out that it was immediately booked to someone else for the Memorial weekend. They had decided not to deal with our issue but they chose an opportunity to make more money just by placing the room back on the market because it was a memorial weekend $$$$. So, they kept our money (without us even staying there) PLUS they made way more profit making our room available immediately on the memorial weekend without resolving the issue. What a terrible vacation!!! Lost our 2years of savings which was meant for our vacation, which was not easy to get for our family in the first place! They should refund the full amount for the terrible customer service and no accommodation we went through on our vacation! Just how the customer service responded alone, we would deserve a full refund, not to mention that we did not stay at the hotel and our requests were ignored!!

Halted at Check-in, Lost all money, Bad Experience, Screwed up our vacation, 2 agents never called back, Not refunded!

This room is a dump not worth even one dollar per day. I do not recommend it it’s old old old. The beds are old they’re made out of plywood. They have no covering the units on the wall or made out of plywood the TVs the size of a matchbox. The drawers in the cabinets are Lenny outward and not finished. It’s just tired. The appliances are tired the bathrooms tired did I say this unit is tired.

Unit 112

Just stayed there with my wife and kids. I guess some of the rooms there aren’t that nice from what I read on previous reviews but our room was exceptional. Spotless and very cute decor. Comfortable beds. Parking was easy and front desk was friendly. Pool was a little on the cold side as it is not heated. Great location on the beach.

Awesome Vacation

Looking through all these comments on the Top of the Gulf, I'm surprised how many people don't read everything that's written on their booking. The Top of the Gulf is a co-owned apartment building. There are management companies that look for websites on the Internet to advertise on that residence. If you book directly on a site other than the owner's, in case of a problem, you should contact that site. Each owner rents the services of the management company of their choice, and it's responsible for the smooth running of your stay. The housekeepers are employed by the management company. The owners who approve of their rental are responsible for this. In most bookings, there are clauses to book apartments.

Some information about the Top of the Gulf

When I read the reviews on this site, I was surprised at the number of people who don't research their reservations. The TOG is an urbanisation with different owners. There are companies that place ads on websites advertising these apartments. If you book on a website and not with a landlord, you have to contact that website if you have problems. The management company hires the landlord. The company is responsible for your stay. The cleaning service is hired by the management company. The owners who rent themselves are responsible for your unit. In most online reservations there are a number of conditions that you have to accept.

Information on Top of the Gulf

I've been reading the comments about the Top of the Gulf, and I'm surprised how many people don't find out about the hotel where they booked a room. The Top of the Gulf is the owner of apartments. There are management companies that look at websites and then advertise the apartments on those sites. When you book through a website that's not run by the owners, you have to contact that website if you have problems. The management company is hired by the individual owner. This company is also responsible during the stay. The cleaning staff is owned by the management company. If you rent an apartment yourself, you are responsible for it. Most online bookings have general business terms and conditions that you have to agree to.

Information on the Top of the Gulf

I stayed at the Top of the Gulf for a week, and enjoyed my stay. I was worried after reading so many negative reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. The location is absolutely perfect. Everything is a short walk away, and the hotel is right by the beach. The hotel is good. It was clean, and safe. It is not a luxury hotel in any way, but it was a reasonable price, and the location was great. If you want granite surfaces and luxurious furniture, no schools Top of the Gulf. If you want a great location, a reasonable price, a safe environment, the Top of the Gulf is the right place. Definitely I would stay here again. I stayed in room 625 with views of the Gulf, and I would recommend this hotel.

A lovely stay.

We stayed here for a weekend for a softball tournament, and I have to say it's the worst place I've ever stayed. I paid for a room overlooking the bay and I could barely see the ocean from our room, the #409. We called Friday as soon as we arrived to inform them that the remote control of our TV was not working. By Sunday, when we checked out, we were still waiting for someone to take care of the situation. Even we went to buy the batteries ourselves and none of that worked. It was bad to have to arrive late in the tournament and have to change the channels. I have that luxury in my locker and was waiting here. The closet was worn out and to be stacked. It was literally just a place where he needed to recover during the night.
