For some time the hotel has had a sign out front that they are renting monthly apartments. There is now a Confederate flag next to the American flag. Doesn't appear to be the family-friendly establishment it was for so many years.

No longer a hotel

Fairfield lodge is no longer a motel... It has now been turned into apartments. My family and I found out this weekend and we were so disappointed because we stayed here last year in July to visit Gettysburg and it was quiet with friendly staff but still has very friendly staff if you decide to rent an apartment there.

So my husband went early checked in and was told the elevator is down and there are no rooms on the first floor 

I was unable to join him as I am handicapped and unable to walk up a flight of stairs. 

There are Marriotts everywhere. A phone call to tell me the elevator was out I would have changed hotels but they would not credit me back. So much for being a gold elite Bonvoy member. 

Oh and then I am in the phone with him and Saturday after coming back from our friends 60th birthday he is unable to find a parking spot.  In the morning the email with the charges come and $10 a day to park there WTF???? It’s Deptford NJ but Manhattan paying for parking. Exactly how many walk to the Fairfield Inn in Deptford with luggage. 

Sorry one more item. It was leaking to which he was told yeah it leaks when it rains. Nice add Mold to the list 

The worse hotel stay ever

The first thing that hit me was that when we walked in, there was an overwhelming smell of something resembling a urinal cake or the cleaning substance used in highway rest stops.  We guessed they just cleaned and that was the smell from their choice of cleaning supplies.  The room was dark, partly from the walls being painted a dark color.  There was no phone, so if your cell was dead and you needed to call the office, you were out of luck. 

There was a small refrigerator, but if you were planning to use if for bringing back a doggie bag from a restaurant, it was too small to be used for anything wider than 4", so nothing that wasn't wrapped as a swan out of foil. 

The tv instructions were hand written on a small card and missed a step.  There was no guide and the only thing we could get was CNN.  My son, in the next room couldn't get his tv to work at all. 

When we turned the lights out to sleep, the parking lot light was so bright that it looked like daylight inside, despite the fact that the shade was down and the curtains were pulled together. The beds were mushy and the bedding was very old and weird, like the blanket looked like it was originally a bolt of fabric normally used as a mattress pad and that was just cut for the bed size. The sheets were nubby and were permanently stained with things like spots from a broken pen or something that looked like that. When I looked under the bed before leaving to be sure nothing fell, the box spring was sagging so badly that you could not see under the bed at all.

Tired Old Motel

We needed a clean, comfortable, and inexpensive place for a 1 night stay during our trip from point A to point B. Found the Fairfield Lodge online and checked out the reviews - looked good so we booked it.

Our room had 2 double beds, TV, mini fridge, hair dryer, and plenty of hot water. Nothing fancy, just a nice mom & pop type small motel that was clean, comfortable, and just as importantly, quiet.

Nice stay

My wife and I stayed here because it is less than a mile away from the local ski resort, and it costs less than half the price of a room at said ski resort. We were happy with our stay, but realized the hotel lacked certain amenities to offset such good prices. The walls are paper-thin here, so your night will depend on your neighbors. We got lucky and had neighbors who also went to bed early, presumably to ski the next morning like us. The owners are lovely. We're glad they provide such an affordable place to stay.

Good for short stay

Stayed here before a bike ride in the area. It's definitely an older-style motel (motor hotel), but the room was clean, and everything worked just fine. Room was a bit small, and the bathroom lacked counter space, but the Internet connection was surprisingly fast, the bed was comfortable, and the small fridge microwave, and coffeemaker all did the job they were supposed to. And, for all this, the price was right.

Old School, Clean and Servicable

What a great no frills place to stay! Clean, quiet, comfortable and safe, and run by a sweet family. TV and internet if you want them. Beautiful surroundings where you can relax. If you're looking for a place to stay and visit Gettysburg or Emmitsburg, and not pay a fortune, this is it.
